  1. Sorry, I would, but don't have the TH-U/TH3 plugin. And just to be clear, you did try starting Sonar with "Run as Administrator"? (It's not the same thing as "Administrator privileges" or belonging to the Administrators group, which actually has restricted access).
  2. Are you running on Windows 10? Try starting CbB with "Run as Administrator" and see what happens.
  3. I have ESET on my main PC, but not on my DAW. I don't recommend having a real-time antivirus on your DAW. Pause the real-time protection and see if you're still getting the dropouts. If so, try running the free utility DPC Latency Checker to identify the culprit: https://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml
  4. That utility is likely in your startup folder. Unless you need constant access to your display settings, best to just disable it in startup, then it won't conflict with Cakewalk. If you need occasional access to the utility, then just find the application and create a shortcut on your taskbar or desktop.
  5. Bottom line, if you need to record 4 channels simultaneously and be able to mix them as discrete channels, you'll need an interface with 4+ ins/outs. Alternatively, you can buy a small mixer (with at least 4 inputs) and feed the stereo outs into your interface, but of course you won't be able to mix the separate channels.
  6. We're in the same club. I've been very happy with my two FW interfaces (TC Electronic and Steinberg)... In fact I've never even owned a USB interface, having moved from PCI (my last was an Echo Gina 3G) to Firewire. Once I got the right PCIe FW add-on card, it truly has been plug and play -- no jumping through hoops or any tweaks necessary for rock solid performance. My next upgrade will be to Thunderbolt, probably in 2-3 years... Until then, I'll be chugging along worry-free with my "outdated" Firewire units!
  7. Trying to embrace the new on an "old Win 7" PC is perhaps pushing your luck a bit too far.... I think it's fair to say that most users are seeing better performance and stability with CWbB over Sonar Plat when running on Win 10 (or even Win 8.1).
  8. Could be one of any number of things... The reboot suggests overheating or maybe malware. I see you have a Studio Cat-built system. I suggest you give Jim Roseberry a call... Maybe he can remote in and figure out what the problem is.
  9. I owned one for about five minutes some years ago, so I can't offer any specific help other than ask if you checked the user manual? I just glanced through it and it seems like you need to connect Roland devices using their V-Link protocol that's explained on p.57. There might be additional info in the other "related" guides... All available here: https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/v-studio_100/owners_manuals/

    I can't download Cakewalk

Are you logging in with a dedicated login and password? Or, authenticating using your Facebook or Google credentials? I had issues trying to use my Google login (Not at this site, another one) but it worked fine once I registered properly for the site.
  11. Couple of things to try: Amplitube installer file may be corrupt. Re-download or retrieve from a backup. While Running as Administrator, activate Amplitube as standalone (Instead of inside Bandlab). Then retry the VST scan.
  12. The Ravenscroft is a UVI instrument (played with the UVI workstation). Make sure you have the latest version: https://www.uvi.net/en/instruments/uvi-workstation.html#download
  13. If you are dead set against trying a newer version, you can do a complete (clean) uninstall of Sonar 8.5, outlined here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1031378&high=clean+uninstall Then reinstall it. Let us know how it goes.
  14. Well, that would be an odd exclusion considering the rest of the software is constantly being updated/developed! I would think that any REPORTED problems with specific 32 bit VSTs are looked at
  15. If you haven't already, do a RESET and RESCAN of your VSTs (Make sure to do both, many people often skip the reset which can make a difference). What specific 32-bit VSTs are giving you problems? Someone else could test these out and at least determine if this is a system-specific issue.
  16. For the same money I'd check out the Steinberg UR242. I've owned three Steinberg interfaces used on three versions of Windows and they've all been rock solid. IMO Steinberg are the most under-rated interface makers around. I suspect people who aren't using Cubase are turned off by the Steinberg stamp - which is a shame (Yamaha actually makes the hardware) - since I can attest that all of my Steinberg units worked flawlessly for years with Sonar/Studio One/Mixcraft.
  17. Not soundfont, but sfz format: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=349745
  18. Could be picking up noise inside your PC through the USB port. Try a different port. Also, do you have 64-bit double precision (under driver settings) enabled? If so, try disabling it.
  19. True, but by knowing the Native Access prefs exist, the user is free to change the paths to his liking, rather than simply accept where NI thinks they should be. Bottom line, the plugin manager is only helpful this way after the fact -- but if you're like me, it's preferable to utilize user-defined VST install paths whenever possible.
  20. RBH, I just remembered - and verified - that Native Access has its own preferences window, where you designate VST and download paths. I set those paths up some time ago (when I first installed Native Access) to match my existing paths. So my guess is you just need to go into the NA prefs, find the designated VST path, then add that location to your CbB prefs.
  21. Hmm, I just updated my Kontakt 5 to the latest (v5.8.1 , R43) a couple days ago using Native Access, then did a manual VST scan. The updated DLL files were just there in my designated VST folder (No further action required). After reading your post, I loaded Kontakt 5 into a project and the latest VST2 version shows up fine. Check the dates of the kontakt DLL files in your VST folder, and confirm they were recently updated. Also, after the manual scan, make sure there were no errors.
  22. Could be a corrupt download. Close all tasks, and try downloading CbB again.
  23. Sorry John, I should probably read the whole thread before posting! ? Maybe my second suggestion (Look for ANY program that isn't recognizable) will point to a clue.
  24. Before you go further with any troubleshooting, you should look to see if any AVS programs are installed on your system. It's not difficult these days for software to get installed without your knowledge while installing other software. I'd also look for any other installed programs that you don't recognize, and remove them.
