Again, I hope you got a legit deal.... But here's the info about the "Shure Store": Business Name: House of Savoy (501) 551-5465 2745 W Logan Blvd Suite G Chicago, IL 60647, US Nothing there suggests they're a proper rep of the Shure Company. (Oddly, the 501 area code is in Arkansas). Also, I guess we're supposed to ignore the two customer reviews claiming they got fakes from that individual....
-
Hopefully it was spelled Shure, not Sure. ? And who knows? Maybe Shure is selling refurbs through Walmart... but of course, one would hope that they are advertising them that way (as refurbished or Open Box items, and not "Brand New").

I would be VERY wary of any Shure or Sennheiser mics being sold at a "too good to be true" price. A quick search at Amazon and Ebay shows DOZENS of popular mics being sold for a third to half of their normal street price. It seems obvious that there is at least one Chinese factory that has dedicated itself to making Shure and Sennheiser (There may be other makers, but these are the names I see most often) quality knockoffs that are so good cosmetically, it's often difficult to tell from the real thing. Consequently, there are now many resellers in the states (and I would imagine elsewhere) helping to pawn these off to buyers thinking they got the deal of a lifetime. Walmart uses resellers too. So, just because these mics are being sold by Walmart, doesn't mean Shure has made them an authorized dealer (In fact, I'm pretty sure they haven't). Bottom line, the sheer number of "brand new" or "mint condition" mics of popular makes/models being sold by resellers for half the normal street price makes it pretty clear what is going on. More than one customer review left on the ad you listed pretty much make the same claim. I really hope that in this case I'm wrong about this -- but with the marketplace being flooded with these knockoffs, I wouldn't count on this sale being the exception...

I didn't see this posted, so sorry if it has been... This listing is for NI Kontakt 7 (Which I was waiting for), but the sale might be for other NI products as well. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/pricing/kontakt-7/?sscid=b1k7_hnc41

Maybe at one time it was free.... but now the license for one year is $25 (and $69 for a lifetime license).

Sold together and listed as "New Old Stock". Boxes appear to be in sealed plastic. Seller is asking just over $50 (incl shipping) for the pair. BTW, I'm not the seller. I just happened to be browsing the site, and it showed up in my Recommended section. As always, Buyer Beware and Do Your Research beforehand (Translated: Don't blame me for any problems).! ?

When did we get VST versions of Sonitus plugins?
JonD replied to Keni's topic in Instruments & Effects
The Sonitus plugins were offered as VST back when they were owned by a company called Ultrafunk . I know because I paid $300 for the bunch about a year before Cakewalk bundled them free with an early version of Sonar (I still cry about that one). If you google "ultrafunk and VST" there are a bunch of references to the plugins (some of them in the old CW discussion groups)! -
I've got the exact same unit -- still working 11 and a half years after purchase! Saw it on a Circuit City clearance rack (No box) with a price tag of $89... According to the manager it had been hooked up to their home theater system for at least a year. The store was now about 98% empty of stock as it was closing its doors for good the next day. I almost bought the unit right then, but decided to risk waiting until the next day, hoping that the manager would be more desperate to get rid of it being the last day. The gamble paid off. The next morning I walked out of there with the 3500, having paid $70 plus tax. I was just proud of myself for getting such a great deal, and really didn't expect to get much benefit from it -- but was shocked at how it cleaned up the power in my old apartment building! Before that, I was used to constant dropouts and static in the audio, which all went away after I plugged in the 3500! Too bad the company went belly up. Can't say I'm surprised when they marketed $100 HDMI cables, but from my experience with their power conditioner, they certainly were capable of making quality products.

From the MOTU website: "You can even take the UltraLite-mk4 on the go as a mobile mixer, controlling everything wirelessly from innovative web app software running on your iPad™, iPhone™, tablet, smartphone and laptop". I don't know if it can be run in complete standalone mode. The user manual seems to suggest it can't (But I'd double check to be sure, as I only skimmed through it quickly).

Works fine here as well. Maybe you got a corrupt download? Try downloading it again.

Are you saying a factory reset is not possible? Otherwise, here ya go: https://soundprogramming.net/synthesizers/e-mu/e-mu-proteus-fx/

If you were on Win10 before with no problems, then the Fast Track drivers should not be suddenly misbehaving with the same O.S. Something else on your new system (not related to your interface drivers) is conflicting with something else. Try these for starters: Disable power mgmt stuff in the BIOS (If you're comfortable navigating the BIOS). New systems have a lot of crap pre-installed. In startup, disable everything you don't recognize (Nothing here is critical, you can easily undo them). Temporarily disable wi-fi and anti-virus. Run latencymon to identify any background tasks that are taking up lots of resources. Connect your interface to a different USB port. The Fast Track is USB2, so stick with that over USB3. Let us know how it goes!

Nectar does not like being a track plug-in

Su Sure thing! (Insert clever hand-shaking emoticon). BTW, you go me seriously thinking about the PW manager. Well, there goes my weekend! Lol. Cheers! -
Nectar does not like being a track plug-in
JonD replied to Scott C. Stahl's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Huh? I've worked in corporate IT for almost 30 years; I know exactly how password managers work. Nowhere in my post did I say my method was BETTER than a PW manager. I started with a spreadsheet and just never got around to switching to a PW manager. Call it laziness or I just didn't see the point. I did suggest using a PW manager to OP... Why in the world did you take offense? Did you think I was maligning your post? The 20th century bit was a joke (off your 21st century comment). Just tell me what I said wrong, and I'll apologize... ? -

JonD replied to Scott C. Stahl's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yep, I guess I'm just 20th century as I keep all my passwords in a spreadsheet (which is encrypted and regularly backed up). Even writing down your login info in a small paper notebook is preferable to relying on your system to remember passwords. The latter is just waiting for disaster to happen and holds the user hostage to that system. If it were me, I'd spend a few hours recording all my passwords to a document or PW manager -- the sooner the better. -

I'm on Win 10 Pro. Latest CbB version: 2021.01 (Build 085) Once I create the controller device - by default called ACT MIDI Controller 1 - the ACT and WAI check boxes are both there and checked. Clicking the Help button on this page brings up CW documentation and a screenshot that seems to confirm this is what you should be seeing. After the above step, go to the main page of CbB, then by clicking on Utilities (top toolbar), the ACT controller is available at the very bottom. Clicking on that allows you to configure the device further. So if you're not at least seeing the above, something probably isn't set up quite right. Did you try Run as Admin? As far as what you're seeing in Sonar 8.5/VS, I don't know if any programming changes have been made to ACT up to CbB, so I can't help there. Hopefully one of the CW staff can chime in. Wouldn't hurt for you to submit a support ticket. Jon- 28 replies

JonD replied to fhinojosa's topic in Instruments & Effects
Hi Frank, Okay, here's what I did to make the VS-100 appear as ACT controller: Open Preferences page. On the left under MIDI, click on Control Services. On the right page, click the icon for Add New Controller Surface (To the extreme right of Import ACT Data button). In Controller/Surface Settings -- choose ACT MIDI Controller (If that's what you want), and Control VS-100 for your input and output. Click OK to exit settings. WAI and ACT boxes should now be checked next to your new controller device. That's as far as I've tested. If this didn't answer your question, let me know what you need and I'll test further. -Jon- 28 replies

I have a VS-100 I keep as a backup interface sitting in the closet. Short of a quick connection test on my DAW system (Win 8.1) I haven't done much with it on CbB. I can dig it out and install on my Win 10 machine to test, but I won't be able to report back until this evening. In the meanwhile, can you confirm that -- You're running on Win10, fully updated (or no later than one major update behind). You've installed Roland driver 2.02 for Win 10. You are running CbB with RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. (Always worth trying when having problems with an older, discontinued interface). If interface is installed via USB3 port, try a USB2 port instead if possible.- 28 replies

If it's an "off the shelf" computer than it needs to be tweaked for DAW use. Start with disabling all the unnecessary crap in your startup folder, then reboot your system. If that doesn't help, then find a guide to Win 10 DAW Optimization (Lots of them online), follow the instructions, and see what happens.

Problem playing older projects on new interface
JonD replied to Terry Coleman's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Hi Joe, Yes, best to start your own thread. Things could get confusing with two topics, and bottom line, it's not fair to the OP. That said, maybe this setup video on the L12 will help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJhez9kioN8
