Recording Level is extremely low when playing tracks
JonD replied to Mark Purdy's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
True, but why get a decent mic-pre, only to plug it into a cheap laptop sound chip? For about the same price, the better option is a single channel USB audio interface (with a decent mic pre built in). For example, the Behringer UM2 is $48. It uses the ASIO4all driver, but it's designed as an audio interface, so performance is way better than any onboard sound chip. -
AFAIK, there were no widespread issues reported here with Nomad Factory Blue plugins in Sonar. That would suggest the 2015 maintenance update didn't resolve any known issues with Sonar (since most users likely didn't know about the update and Sonar Plat didn't go belly up until late 2017). Make sure your friend has the latest version of Studio Mixing Suite - v1.0.0.8. Otherwise, I'd proceed with the idea that the issue is system-specific.

An expensive video card usually installs a bunch of extra "utilities" with the software. Make sure there's nothing unnecessary running in the background. Go into Task manager-Startup and delete everything not absolutely necessary.

Was it all working fine before? If so, have you made any recent changes to your system? Try disconnecting your wi-fi temporarily, see if that helps.

Dropouts in Amplitube 3 plugin since audio interface upgrade
JonD replied to nacrainter18's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
The Amplitube 4 installer is free. I believe A4 acts as a shell for all of IKM's guitar software, even older versions (At least, that's how the IKM T-Racks effects system works. All effects you don't own are simply grayed out). Assuming A4 works the same way, your A3 "should" operate fine in the newer GUI. Worth downloading the installer and giving it a try. Also, if you haven't already, do a reset/rescan of your VSTs. -
Dropouts in Amplitube 3 plugin since audio interface upgrade
JonD replied to nacrainter18's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This would suggest a background process interrupting/polling at regular intervals... Go into Task manager - Startup, and disable any tasks that are not necessary. (You'll need to reboot the system after this). Also, try running latencymon to identify any processes causing large latencies. -
Superior Drummer and EZdrummer not loading

Try a reset and rescan of your VSTs. -
(SOLVED) CW doesn't recognize Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB
JonD replied to G Randy Brown's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
What he said... In short, did you do the following? 1) Download the latest 2i2 driver package from Focusrite. 2) With the 2i2 NOT connected to your PC -- install the software. 3) Reboot your system. 4) Connect the 2i2 via USB. Allow a moment for 2i2 to load driver. 5) Start up CbBL. -
Agreed. If you're on Windows 8, you need to take it all the way to 8.1, which is a free update, then install all available updates (You'll probably find that Visual C +, and other necessary libs/utilities have been installed for you).

XPand2 is a decent rompler for the money (Currently about $15): https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/64-Virtual-Instrument/1560-Xpand-2

There could be a background process hogging resources, and console view pushes it over the edge... Run the free utility Latency Monitor to identify what might be causing the problem. Get it from here: https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon Also, go to Task Manager - Startup (This shows apps that auto-start and run in the background), and disable any you don't recognize. You'll need to reboot afterwards.

Midi in Problems with Hardware Synthies
JonD replied to schnibbelkram's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Double check your connections (Probably best to disconnect everything and start over). Follow this video guide on connecting a MIDI keyboard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwEVtBbNdak -
I'm using TC Electronic FW interfaces (Impact Twin and Konnekt 6 - both DICE II)... No problems here under Win 10 build 1903. I've seen it generically advised for Win 10 that you HAVE to use the legacy FW driver -- but I've just stuck with the latest TCE driver package (last updated Nov 2016) and have had zero problems.

IMO, the key to that sound is the band/orchestra needs to sound like it's in one space. Overdubbing was rare/nonexistent, one or two mics was common (allow lots of mic bleed), and no crazy panning (Try putting everything in the middle third or so). And, of course, it needs to sound like analog.

If you're mostly an audio guy then it doesn't make much difference - stick with 8.5.... But if you're heavily into virtual instruments and FX, then you owe it to yourself to make the move to CbB. The main reason should be obvious: plugin expansion. Any plugin you have trouble with in 8.5 will be stuck that way since development has stopped, and no plugin dev will be anxious to track down a bug with an obsolete, 10 year old host.

If you purchased the full version, then you should be registered at the Truepianos website. It appears to still be operational... so for lost registration codes go here: https://truepianos.com/support.php

UGH: The pops, crackles, buzz gremlins are back again...
JonD replied to Sean Michael Robinson's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
All evidence does seem to point to the nVidia card/drivers as the culprit... Do you have another video card or onboard graphics you can switch to and test? Have you gone through all of the settings in the nVidia Control panel - disabling everything non-essential? How about disabling the nVidia control panel itself? Have you run dpc latency monitor lately? Try switching to a different USB port (pref on a different internal hub). -
Senheiser's Ambeo Orbit VST Crashes Cakewalk
JonD replied to Strange's topic in Instruments & Effects
Hi, I just tested the plug-in (both VST2 and VST3) on my system, and didn't experience any problems. My system is 7 years old (specs are in my sig). I didn't have the plugin, so started from scratch, downloading and installing it - but only the 64 bit versions. Try downloading it again - in case you got a corrupt download - then after the install do the required reboot. Also, try the VST2 version if you haven't already (Though, as I mentioned, both worked fine for me). -
UVI Workstation won't work in Cakewalk
JonD replied to Ellsworth Hall's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Those are the UVI soundbanks, not the VST instrument, which is a DLL file. (The DLL file should be in the same folder and scanned with your other VSTs). Download the latest UVI workstation installer from here: https://www.uvi.net/en/instruments/uvi-workstation.html#download -
For a cheap interface bundled with a mic, I'd look at starter bundles for podcasting. Here's one for under $100 (USD): https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PodcastStuUSB--behringer-podcastudio-bundle-usb-recording-bundle

Have you connected with a different DAW/audio app? How about just in Windows (Does the Quad-Capture work as a general sound card)?
-
Did you try with more than one project? That project could have gotten corrupt.
-
Also, if you haven't done so, do a rescan of your VSTs.
