That would be a great display option. I would similarly like to be able to accurately display a ghosted tempo map overlay in relation to the timeline . I think the capability to syncing horizontal zoom scaling between various windows would be a huge workflow improvement

That Rabbit is dynamite. Best movie ever.

Thanks Scook - what I notice is when clicking on a help tab within the program- such as a tab in a preferences set-up page for example, it's directed to open the old chm. Is this a hold over from my Sonar Pro migration ?

Currently my offline help file is referenced at build # 23.10.0 ( which is from the last paid version - I think. )Is there a way to get the current build # 26.5.0 to update for the ( in program ) or offline help file? I have the latest reference guide , and both of Craigs excellent tips.

Arrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! [TM]
RBH replied to SteveStrummerUK's topic in The Coffee House
When I realized that I actually used about 10% of the 790 plugs I have installed - life becomes much simpler. My soon to be new DAW will be much much leaner. - and of course this will let comfortably repeat the same path of aquiring a whole new batch of 711 useless plugs in the future. -
How to True Stereo Pan NOT just balancing
RBH replied to Roland-Music's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I think the idea being posited is that the controls in a stereo pan do not need to be equal ratios as they change left to right. But you can define power levels independently between left and right. It gives a more realistic representation of a stereo field. -
I would add a different color scheme for MIDI meters. At a glance - it would be an improvement to discern midi from audio meters immediately , like making the MIDI display a selectable color.

Thanks very much for these.

It wouldn't be an actual stereo track - but you can bounce to track and change the interleave in a couple of different ways. Your track inputs should allow you to choose left - right or stereo. You are likely selecting stereo input on the track input - and it's trying to record a stereo track. If you select either input 1 or input 2 related to which input you're actually using - it should record a mono track.

Thanks for that info. I wasn't sure if the cross grade was based on IK products or a competitors.

Does anyone know where to find details on the cross grade version of Hammond B-3x ? I couldn't find any info on the JJR site.

Nice Tutorial - thanks.

[Bug] First use of Melodyne - nothing in Melodyne Window
RBH replied to ZincT's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I opened a Melodyne clip by both selecting a discreet clip as well as doing a selection within a fully bounced track. Both required that I re-select the blobs icon in Melodyne. I only needed to do that once per session. I didn't have a need to re-fresh the melodyne window by closing and reopening. -
[Bug] First use of Melodyne - nothing in Melodyne Window
RBH replied to ZincT's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I use Melodyne Studio - So I'm not sure if the interface is the same for essentials - that being said - it looks as though the track itself in Melodyne is not selected, this might be why it isn't showing up initially, but does show after refreshing. I know in studio even with multiple tracks -they sometimes are not selected initially. I'm not sure what state of selection needs to be when first instantiating Melodyne. Maybe the track needs to be selected and not only the clip. I will test this later today to see if I can toggle different states. -
Don't show that one to Pete Townsend - the dude would sport a stump.

I can't tell by the photo - have you turned snap off?

I was thinking of Keybind for the timeline selection - but ALT selection then auto splitting is great. Thanks for that ! I hadn't stumbled on that before, but I bet it's in the fine print somewhere : ) I was thinking more from a macro view of the track to reduce key strokes. This definitely does that. and as John Bradley says making the selection at higher zoom would benefit from the key bind. The difference I see is that ALT select does not allow you to fine tune the selection a bit - you need to hold the ALT key and do the select as a single sweep - I also like to set punch points when zoomed in and there the Keybind would be useful too.

Thanks for the info on Win 7 incompatibility. I was just debating upgrading my Studio v4 to V5 - I haven't migrated to Win 10 yet.

I believe this would speed up workflow in any number of editing scenarios.

Looking for some guidance on gain staging with amp sims
RBH replied to Robert Bone's topic in Instruments & Effects
Amps and PRE-amp distortion signals are additive by nature. I think rsinger has it correct to hit the input to the sim pre-amp at an appropriate level defined by its input indicator. That's how I approach it using S-Gear, but - it's about the only amp sim I get along with. S-gear also has different gain structure dependent on the input signal - I would bet this is the same with all well designed sims. I typically treat S-gears output level as what to use when setting a channel input to unity. Any level increase caused by a sub-processor with-in the amp would hopefully be there by design to drive the signal correctly. Most have mix controls if not separate input and output levels.- 4 replies

I'm tempted to upgrade - but yes the Studio upgrade is a little pricey. I use it for just short segment editing and don't really utilize many of the features - that being said loading multiple vocal tracks for subtle tuning is pretty amazing. The new features are pretty significant though, looks like some major work went into separating sibilant chunks.

Rico - Fantastic work with Kaiko Matsui. It's been many years since I've seen her band Live, hope to again soon, hope to see you then as well. That is my forte style of music, and I am really glad such talented folks are keeping it alive and well and carrying it forward. SWEET !

That would likely need to be a third party or Kurzweil utility. Their format of file / program identity and how it's registered to it's file management system would be unique to each synth maker. As far as midi at 0:0:0 is concerned - Midi is a serial protocol. If you have controller data, channel data, , patch recall and note data all trying to rush out the gate at the same time, there will be a train wreck. It's best practice to have note data start at least few ticks after 0:0:0 so higher priority data can be sent before you expect to hear a note. It's pretty typical to start note data at measure 2.

Would it be possible to switch the " hidden " effects on / off switch with the ever present lighted Pre / Post switch on the console views channel strips sends ? . It just seems more logical to see if effects are bypassed at a glance instead of having to mouse over the hidden switch. And - It seems to me that the pre-post switch is typically a purposeful set -up and doesn't need it's switch to be monitored. Would be cool if this could be reversed in preferences so as not to throw a monkey wrench in anybodies workflow if they like the way it is.
