I rather like this http://www.soniccouture.com/en/products/27-electronica/g47-the-attic-2/ If you have any of the earlier Attic products you may be entitled to a discount, I got it for €59 and also got two of their exclusive freebees. There is a massive amount of content here, many of the synths have a lot of tweak-ability. As a Komplet Kontrol user the NKS compatibility is a big bonus. The encoder assignments and labeling on my S61 keyboard are very well thought out too!

Companies would often prefer to lease equipment so it probably true of software. There are tax and cash flow advantages in paying monthly rather than shelling out a lump sum in one go. If Avid consider their market to be "pro" they may take this into consideration.

I bought it in a moment of weakness but I don't have any regrets for twenty quid. Downside is the long sample load time, I may install the smaller sample set too and use this for initial work. It sound pretty good to me clean, some of the heavily effected presets are not to my taste and I think this is where some of the artificial sounding stuff comes from. It will not push Orange Tree's Flat Wound, Round Wound and Rick off my favorite spots but it expands the pallet a bit.

My Roland Quad-Capture is sick and keeps switching itself off at awkward times. It seems unrelated to any software including Cakewalk, so i am looking to replace it. I like the look of the new NI Komplete Audio 6 the specification seems to meet my requirements. https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Native-Instruments-Komplete-Audio-6-MK2/2YRH Has anyone had any experience with NI audio interfaces.

Downloaded and installed, version 2 & 3 happily co-existing. I am looking forward to seeing how they have improved Riffer and if its any better for writing your own patterns. I felt that it was not quite there once you got past the factory content, but maybe that's because I can't quite think like a bass player when it comes to string selection etc.

UK Venue Closures - UPDATE with petition link
Vernon Barnes replied to Vernon Barnes's topic in The Coffee House
Now The Stables at Milton Keynes is under threat. Here is a petition you can sign if you have a UK postcode. 10,000 signatures as I write. It may not do any good but at least people are trying. -
The best one I have come across lately I the World Music one. The Japanese stuff in particular is beautiful and far more versatile than you would think.

I posted this "in another place" a while ago, but it looks like this forum is taking off so I should start posting here more. "Beyond Reason's Edge" a journey into the madness of the modern world. https://soundcloud.com/goldrybluszco/beyond-reasons-edge

Are the 600 patches separate NKIs? Is there a decent way of browsing them?

I got the drive cheaper than I could find a download option for the Komplete 12 upgrade, so Its a good backup to have and will certainly speedup any future reinstallation. Time and Space have been in contact to say there has been a delay in receiving stock from NI and they are expecting delivery tomorrow. I have waited months for the sale, a few more days wont matter.

I went for it. On first impressions its a very nice sounding synth with a decent selection of presets. I have not tried programing it yet. But its worth $15

Bandcamp seems to make so much sense. HQ downloads (WAV, FLAC and higher bit-rate MP3) plus providing a outlet for smaller artists to sell physical products. I normally buy CD's but I also buy from Bandcamp. I understand the return to the artist is one of the best.

UK Venue Closures - UPDATE with petition link
Vernon Barnes replied to Vernon Barnes's topic in The Coffee House
In this case commercial considerations. Business Rates (property taxes) and maintenance costs. Borderline's closure seem to be a result of development and the "gentrification" of Soho. A number of venues have been forced to close when residential properties have been built nearby and the new residents complain about the noise. For example a venue in Guildford that has been active since the 50's is being threatened because nearby offices have been converted to apartments. Its a big threat to grassroots music in the UK. -
I ordered the K12 upgrade, I had to pay postage even without using my loyalty points, even then the only cheaper place it could find was the download version direct from NI, which was actually 50p dearer but no P&P. Getting the freebee from Time and Space makes it the best deal by far (assuming Hertz-OG is decent of course, I am downloading that now.) Update - I have had a very quick look at Hertz-OG, there are some nice sounds and it looks like there is a reasonable amount of tweak-ability. It certainly looks useful. The main downside is presets are presented as individual NKI files, 630 of them rather than snapshots making browsing a chore and mapping parameters to Komplet Kontrol in-practical. I think in time I will split the sounds into different folders to make it easier to find sounds.

More bad news. It has just been announce that Leamington Assembly is closing with immediate effect. A Paul Young gig scheduled for this Wednesday has been cancelled, it was that sudden. https://www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk/news...-1-8951581 This comes close on the new that Borderline in London and The Citadel in St. Helens are closing. That three significant venues taken off the UK circuit for small to medium touring bands and other venues around the country have either closed or are under threat. Sad times.

Looks like the Softube Buchla 296e Spectral Processor is discounted to match the intro price that ended on 31st May. If yo have Modular don't overlook this module, yes it's expensive at $99 but its very versatile, from an equalizer where every band is voltage controlled to a vocoder and a lot more.

Note that M-Tron pro has been updated to version 3. The main thing seems to be a scalable GUI. Its a free upgrade and worth doing.

This is very nice, mute, fingered, pick, popped and slapped articulations are all available and you can easily setup your own velocity switch points. This is the only bass library I have that really seems to nail a "high up the neck" tone I am particularly fond of, this is controlled by the fretting position control. There are plenty of presets and Greg has done a good job of getting some really nice tones form the Kontakt effects, of course you can also output clean to your favourite amp sim. Edit - The above refers to the recently release flatwound precision bass for OTS, not this new J-Bass. DOH!

Problem Cakewalk and Roland OctaCapture
Vernon Barnes replied to Alcar28's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I have similar issues occasionally with my Quad Capture. It not frequent but It's annoying when it happens. It has also happened with stand alone Guitar Rig and some synths outside of Cakewalk. I would say it started happening a few months ago so it may be related to an update. I will certainly try some of the suggestions in this thread to see if I can get back to stability. -
83% off: AcousticSamples 4-in-1 Guitar Bundle!

Great value. I have all but the Strat. If you are worried about UVI Workstation it costs nothing to try it out. It works well on my WIN 10 system. -
Not available in the UK.
