Bajan Blue replied to trager's topic in Deals
Hi Reid - please don't go.......as someone I am sure has said before - if you post something and give your usual opinion as to whether good and bad, and then subsequently get a little something for it, great - its very difficult in the music world these days to get anything!! And you have been here a long time - I'm sure we all trust your views on these things Nigel -

Well, we are still in Lockdown here in Cape Town, and we have also had some awful weather, so the last video we were doing from our 2017 album has been delayed a bit. So I was just looking at some old stuff we had done and thought I would just post this video - one of our first videos from about 12 years ago - have to say I was really surprised at how bad the "technical" quality was - looks very grainy - things on this front have really improved - but anyway the music still sounds OK I think - hope you enjoy it Cheers Nigel PS - you might have to turn the volume on as this is hosted on our website and sometimes the volume is muted https://www.devinelie.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/honey_on_the_beach.mp4

Noob question. Can anyone comment, what would you normally use the different preamps, commpressions and filters on? A individual bus or master bus? I use their pre amps on tracks - depends on what the track is, synth for instance, but say I've recorded a "real" synth and it doesn't quite have enough thickness, but sounds good, i put a pre amp on first, then I always use their compressors now (mainly the FET 76) then whatever else effects wise I do use the FET 76 on buses when needed - perhaps I've doubled tracked a guitar, it helps to gel them together. Well could not resist - just purchased and have been having a little play - they are good, but the Chorus Dimension is worth the money on its own!!! I've used the UAD version for years - i've just done an A/B test with the UAD and the extra control you can get with the Arturia is just fabulous - so, same luscious richness you can achieve with the UAD but then lots and lots more luscious richness - I just love this and will definitely use it a great deal - the other two will get use I expect, but for me the Chorus Dimension is well worth the $49 - in fact to me I'd pay more than that just to have the Chorus Dimension on its own!!!! Rob for what you've described this is to be used for, it sounds very good to me - it has that sort of Historical feel to it Look forward to hearing / seeing the finished piece Nigel -
Jesse Like this - agree with what tom said re the mix, apart from that, cool my friend Nigel

Bit of a Squeeze vibe going on here!! - good track - I would agree with tom, a bit toppy for my personal tastes, otherwise cool Cheers Nigel
