  1. It has always remained the same for me. Try it; anything you do can be undone. I would export a track or a mix of tracks to a folder outside CbB. Open a new project and drag that file into it, then do the Process>Length to it. But there are many ways to do it, some simple and some a little more complicated.
  2. Copy the groove clip to where you want it. Right-click the clip and turn off groove looping. That should return it to the original clip length.
  3. In the old days, I would just take a finished stereo track of the song and go to Process>Length at the top and set it at 95% or 90% to speed it up a little. I never noticed any artifacts, but I believe if you go too far, you might. The easy, one-click method.
  4. 'Soft synth' is short for software synthesizer. Your Yamaha has a hardware synth which makes it possible to hear what you play. A soft synth is, as the name implies, software which can take the played/recorded MIDI data and output as audio. Although you may not have an audio interface (yet; highly recommended if you want recording satisfaction), your computer almost certainly has a sound card that can be used to listen to your songs.
  5. Welcome to the forum. The "5-10 bpm slower" problem is possibly a sample rate mismatch. Both the Spark and Cakewalk should be set to the same value. Is the ASIO setting you're using a true ASIO driver for the amp, or an ASIO driver already on your computer? Or ASIO4All?
  6. I resolve to not make any resolutions. Dang! So much for that. Happy New Year!
  7. McCartney III? Is that the replacement for McCartney II after McCartney I was killed by the walrus?
  8. Welcome to the forum. Internet speed won't (shouldn't) be a problem, but a quality audio interface is almost a necessity. It's a professional recoding studio in your computer, so yeah, it's a little complex.
  9. Welcome to the forum. Some stuff from the manual, and a link to the manual: Connect the instrument’s USB terminal to the USB terminal of a computer, and you can transfer performance data and song files between the two (page 86). To use the USB data-transfer features you’ll need to do the following: • First, make sure the POWER switch on the instrument is set to OFF, then use a USB cable to connect the instrument to the computer. After making the connections, turn on the power of the instrument. • Install the USB MIDI driver on your computer. Installation of the USB MIDI driver is described on page 94. ■Installing the USB-MIDI Driver● ● ● ● In order to be able to communicate with and use MIDI devices connected to your computer, the appropriate driver software must be properly installed on your computer. The USB-MIDI driver allows sequence software and similar applications on your computer to transmit and receive MIDI data to and from MIDI devices via a USB cab https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/3/334403/psre403_en_om.pdf I started with a Yamaha keyboard back in 2001, but it didn't have USB. Hopefully you can get this working and enjoy it and Cakewalk as much as I did.
  10. Cakewalk staff, and the boss, working on a Sunday on what for many folks is a holiday weekend. ? Sorry I can't help the OP; just impressed and thankful.
  11. Welcome to the forum. What are you using to make sounds? The computer's sound chip or an external audio interface? If it's the computer chip, change the Driver Mode to MME, WDM or WASAPI and try again.
  12. A mountain of a man and a great guitar player. I have 1 Mountain album, called "Flowers Of Evil". The B side is all live and rocking.
  13. Welcome to the forum. Yeah, most USB mics are used for podcasting, and this $35 mic is probably not the best choice even for that. For best results, an audio interface and a better microphone are about the minimum for decent recordings. This hobby can get expensive quickly.
  14. Expand the track pane to see all of the controls. Drag the volume control to adjust the loudness.
  15. Man in restaurant: Waiter! There's a fly in my soup! Waiter: Impossible. We used them all in the raisin bread. The old ones are not always the best ones. ?
  16. What is your latency at? When mixing, it's sometimes better to increase it.
  17. The Master probably needs to be set to the same output. That's the silent bus. Welcome to the forum.
  18. I don't think you will find complete song drum loops, but there are thousands of popular songs in MIDI format that you could download and remove everything but the drums if you wanted. Some cost money, but there are many that are free. A little slicing and dicing to fit your idea for your song and wala, a complete song drum track. But you could do that with the supplied loops, and it's not that hard. Or, get a cheap MIDI keyboard and play in your own drums. Again, not too difficult. Welcome to the forum.
  19. Welcome to the forum. Are these MIDI tracks playing through software synthesizers? What are the synths? Or are they all audio tracks or a mix? Are you using any effects in any of the tracks? Which effects? Are you using the computer's onboard sound card or an external audio interface? What is the device? Do you know which audio driver you're using (MME, WDM, WASAPI or ASIO)?
  20. Welcome to the forum. You can only use one driver when using ASIO. So you can's record through your interface and hear it through the PC speakers; only the interface's outputs. You can if using the WASAPI Shared driver provided with many newer Windows computers, or the older WDM and MME drivers. Quality will not be the same, and latency may not be good enough to play/record in time to already-recorded tracks.
  21. The past, the present and the future all walk into a bar. It was about time.
  22. Lots of old guys here, including me. In Track View, click the control outlined in red to bring up any busses already available. If there are no busses, right-click in the empty bus pane and Insert 1 or more. Double-click the name of the bus and name it whatever you want, like Master or Guitars, etc. All busses should have their outputs set to the Master, and the Master's output should be set to the sound card's or audio interface's output.
