Symphony #4 - Sergei Prokofiev Prokofiev waited until Stalin died before releasing this. He hid it away, and wrote Symphony #5 to please Stalin. Sergei's more modern music was hated by Stalin so much, that he was warned and afraid he was going to be sent to Siberia to be worked to death. In fact he was so sure, he kept a packed suitcase by the door in case they came in the middle of the night for him. After Stalin died, he premiered #4 I think #4 is a grand piece of art. The more times I listen to it, the more nuances and clever theme variations get recognized by me. It keeps getting better and better.

What I don't like about bagpipes is the drone(s) are purposely out of tune with the chanter, so that when the chanter plays the same note as the drone it doesn't sound like one pipe. Saxophones are not in tune with themselves, and every note needs different pressure on the reed to play it in tune--more pressure to raise the pitch, less to lower it. Ever since I was a kid, I've trained myself to play in tune by using my ears and lip, so that when something is consistently not in tune, it just sets off an alarm in my brain. But admittedly there are many who love the sound, and there's nothing wrong with that. There is more than one wan to play music, and more than one way to enjoy it.

I can't say I dislike it, as I've never eaten there, but I don't love it either. I don't eat at fast food places. Life is too short to eat mediocre food. I think the last time I ate fast food it was Burger King, and it was probably over 35 years ago. When I eat out, I want the food cooked fresh, with good ingredients, the way I like it, and served to me at my table. I guess that puts me in the weirdo minority, but I've been strange and not like the others since I was a kid. I guess that's why I'm happy being a career musician. Notes

"Summer Wind" - Frank Sinatra We learned this for a club owner. It was her favorite song and she hired us a lot, so it was important to learn it. I must say I really enjoy singing it and if played at the right time and the right gig, it goes over well with our audience.
