If you shoot Nikon, Sony or Fuji then seriously look at Capture One Express (which is free for those camera systems) Capture One Pro (the full featured version is certainly better than Lightroom and the free version just doesn't have some of the advanced tools, but has the same best in the world RAW processing engine for the basic adjustments).

Not me....it is going to be a long wait before this drops enough in price to be affordable I'm sure....the temptation is going to be real. ?

I'd run the demo. It could be used as a single pane multieffects unit, but can't speak to the alternatives you have in your collection.

EQ Matching The EQ Matching component automatically transfers sonic features of the guitar sound you like to your own sound. To use it, first get a short piece of the solo guitar sound you like. Other instruments must not be playing, no drums, no bass, no vocals, just the guitar. Loop it and click Analyse target sound button and let it play for about 7 seconds. Then press the button again to stop the analysis. Next, record your own guitar, playing the same or similar riff. Loop it and do the same analysis using the Analyse your sound button. When you stop the analysis, the plugin starts matching the sonic properties. Enable - Enables the EQ Matching component. Depth - Controls how close your sound gets to the target guitar sound. Note that the sound will never be identical, unless you'd use the same guitar, amp settings and, well, hands. Output - Use to compensate volume changes caused by the EQ Matching section.

Yeah, they are primarily looking for last minute bug things from users to test across various platforms, etc.

I did the same with the 595s But the 598s once they come out of the box and taken in and out of the black bag, start getting ugly. I baby my equipment and I was shocked when it started to happen after virtually no use.

I've got the 598s and while they are unique (and sound amazing) I don't like the looks as the cream color easily starts to get black spots/wear on them when putting them in the standard senn black headphone bag even with basically no use.

I did a quick test of EQ matching yesterday using not perfect conditions. I certainly didn't match the tone but it did result in a tone that I really like and could easily use. At this price point, it is worth giving a test to see if it might work for you. It isn't going to replace my other amp sims from PA (and a couple of the amplitube models) but I do expect it to get some use as another option to those platforms.....and unlike amplitube the interface pops up instantly as you expect a plugin to.

usually many of the stems that are out there for a famous track have processing applied to them (eq, comp, etc). Not a terrible thing, but usually created for the context of a song. A bit more difficult to get that thinned out version to have the same tweakability of a real raw recording that is basically guitar -> Amp -> preamp -> Microphone.

United Plugins all use the Melda authorization method and it is believed many are build on some of the underlying archatecture. It is unclear to the degree the "code" for the sound is based on Melda or MXXX like development. Melda is part of the UP "alliance" however, it is interesting they no longer sell any of the Melda plugins in the UP store.

Curious about that too, hopefully sometime by this weekend I can test it out with some raw recordings I have of a friend playing through a priceless guitar amp he has.

Thanks for the tip. I had some of those coins and paid $6 USD. I demoed it for 15 mintues and figured it was worth that. (I also like supporting developers that don't limit your authorizations/comptuer use) As a "total" guitar solution, I think it falls short based on current market expectations. But it covers some of the classic basic tones in the 5 amps. I tried that auto input level system. Either I did it wrong or you have to really back down the input levels to get a clean sound on anything but the blue amp.

That is annoying as fresh air is great. But it only needs an internet connection if you don't own an ilok or you are using a second authorization even if you do have one. If it is free I don't understand the limitations at all. I'd like to authorize to at least two computers. And since it uses ILOK I can't just use two accounts as I'd have to give up all the other plugins on the 2nd computer as it isn't going to allow two accounts in the same machine.It is annoying.

Only at the time of activation for the first time. That is fairly standard, though I agree not the best method . This isn't like captain chords that require an internet connection at all times to run. That is insane.

The basic idea is "no" They would only be accessable from the Free Player is if a 3rd party makes an insturment that uses them in some way (which I have yet to see). I have the Paid LE version and even that I haven't found any reason to actually download all that content as it really isn't exactly available to use...same situation as the free player for the most part. They clealy drive at needing MDrummer for the actual drum sounds to be available and usable.

That was the first thing I looked at. I only did a 10 min test but the layout/controls and sound of CM Pluck did not match up wiht any of the "Pluck" labeled instruments in MSF_LE according to what I saw/heared. Yes and no. My thoughts 1) This isn't just a synth and it certainly doesn't come with so many samples that one could treat it like a massive instrument library out of the box. 2) Yes, if you have the FULL version (not the LE) you can get into lots of controls and as a synth have to imagine it is insanely deep.....but a synth isn't say a Saxaphone. Most end users can't be expected to sample a few hundred instruments then create a custom interface for them, etc. MSF is a hybrid of sorts in that it can act as a sample player with extra controls or a full blown synth. The Synth part has a ton to offer out of the box. As a sample based instrument the offering right now is tiny compared to the "market leader" 3) LE version gives a surprising amount of tweakability to existing sounds, patches....but honeslty still feels very "synth" like over all, when the sampling possibility like we get with the Grand Piano means there is a whole world that is untapped with this product - if those samples were included and in an instrument format (for the LE users, Full Users obviously could create using the samples. I got LE when it was the typical half off. We can expect that price to continue to increase if they really do put the development and build out into it. Since they offer free updates for life - my thinking was - get it while I can afford it. It is unlikley I'd ever jump to the full version due to the cost. But since the LE version should come with all the instruments it is less limited than many would expect. Those extra tabs of controls pack a big punch.

Agree on CM Pluck, but the free piano is a legit premium freebie. it is also a bit odd it isn't included in MSF since the premise of buying that is "you get everything we will release" but they put a foot note that there might be exceptions...though I expected the exceptions to be some sort of monster instrument(s). I'll take it as a good sign they are still developing more, I don't think it is anywhere near the potential yet.

Answering my own question, it seems to be different than anything else I have in the MSF_LE

I haven't loaded it yet. It is just a stripped down version of something MSF owners already have, or something we would actually need to download to get from CM?

Never used this, but paid more than $20 for a bottom of the line phantom power supply alone back in the day.

1. I understand the idea, but for those of us that want to build a rig and then record with it. Recreating those "patches/presets" is a major burden that even some free alternatives can get around (https://kushview.net/element/) 2. I oversee a fleet of computers and have been a guitar player using technology for over 25 years. Yes the modern systems run on software and it is possible to fail (just like hardware is also prone to fail). But there are far more things that can go wrong between an OS, External Hardware for the sound card, hardware controler, Software such as GP and the plethora of VSTs running on it than there is with a purpose built machine that was designed with the specific harware and software in mind. I do agree with the notion that I can get excellent sound quality with the computer setup - but it certainly isn't necessarily a cost effective route and it is balanced with the risk of computer systems.

Well I purchased v3 on sale and think it is worth that. What I'm saying is I don't get the hate directed towards PA here, they offered both v3 AND v4 for less than you can buy it direct from the maker no matter which way you purchased it. I havne't heard a single person say they acdtually paid full price from PA and then didnt' get teh v4 upgrade that fit in the same timeframe as would have qualified for the same treatment direct. The fact is, PA provided the best pricing for both V3 and V4 for anyone that bought v3 as far as I can tell.

Even though they offered a better deal (for total cost...sale plus upgrade price) than direct for those that bought it on sale? I don't get it.

I only picked it up becuase of the sale. I knew v4 was on the way but until it sees a lower price point I won't buy it. It just isn't a product that has the value of the MSRP to me. It doesn't run as a VST in a DAW and needs a computer, other software and a hardware controler to be of much value. Once you have all that, you are in the Kemper or other high end unit range (for a guitar player) which frankly should be less prone to bugs/failure/etc. At the sale price, I might get some use out of it. I also didn't expect a free upgrade to v4.
