Nimbus upgrade from Phoenixverb or Excalibur
Brian Walton replied to Eusebio Rufian-Zilbermann's topic in Deals
It says "upgrade". Those that did this deal, did you keep ilok seats for both Phoenix and Excalibur in addition to the Nimbus seat addition? -
Also happy (and a little surprised) to report that it installed on 3 machines that I own. Based on other Reason products (with the dongle) I wasn't sure if they were going to allow it. Not really much in the package that you can't get for free that sounds as good or better though with other plugin makers. (IMO) But it is nice to have these within Bandlab, and I just uninstalled my old version of Reason that I installed with the intention of rewiring it, but never felt it was worth it.

It has been working well enough for a while now since release. I'm surprised they didn't raise the rate even more, unlike the vast majority of other VSTs on the market, this one actually supplies some real value to music creation.
-
Hit the drop down menu. Not sure why it defaults to the old, but should be there .
-
Yeah, that is what I thought to. I can't imagine there would be an issue based on this fact. But don't know, my version of reason is older than that and I never use it.

The Rack is here is a plugin. Does Reason 10 come with a VST plugin option?
-
I'm sure I'll grab this once I figure out something to buy. But not exactly earth shattering stuff in the package. The few VSTis in there are literally about 18 years old.
-
And good music too! Only question is on that page I don't see how it is setup to actually aquire the music other than to search for it on another platform.

I'm surprised at what a resource hog Iris 2 is though it has been on the market for a while. Certainly worth $10.

Feature Request: better display of note names in PRV
Brian Walton replied to John Bradley's topic in Feedback Loop
I'd like to see bigger, more legible text options. When you zoom in, to the PRV like this, there should be plenty of Space to make the Db 3 really stand out. -
Honestly there is no justification for it these days. I understood that mentality 20 years ago when all software for music production was expensive. Bandlab is free, and an absurd about of quality free plugins and VSTis on the market. Anyone that can't afford to pay, can use free. No longer any excuse at all. Anyone with any tallent and hardware (which you can' t get for free) can produce high quality recordings these days, with zero software costs.

I believe they have free updates forever according to the website.

Huge fan of Capture One for RAW editing myself too. Don't love the price and the costly upgrade path. But I'm on the latest and greatest and it is indeed the best RAW tool on the market. Anyone that shoots Nikon, Sony or Fuji should certainly at least be using the Free Express program.

I also own CS6, and while the subscription model is lame....the price of CS6 was even worse. However after switching to Affinity - CS6 feels very clunky. It doesn't even have live filter layers (something Affinity had before Adobe) In terms of the echosystem, the studio link of Affinity between photo, designer and publisher is what Adobe wishes they could do. As they continue to update it (free to customers thus far), I do like Premiere Pro CS6. Though Davinci Resolve it easily its equal or superior if you have a really good machine to run it on (and it is free)

Too bad you are late to the table, they have 50% off all of them for months as a response to COVID, etc. They run 30% off with some regularity, but 50% was unheard of. Honestly worth full retail and more. But I also do a lot of visual work.
-
I tired it but once you swtich to something like Affinty, I can't image even re-opening the program. It can do very good things, but needs refinement . Adobe is obviously capable software, but shouldn't even be mentioend in the deals thread. Affinity Photo is a far better deal for the vast majority of people. (including some full time professionals). No ads and can be installed on multiple machines .

I tried out the release before this one and thought it was very nice for transparent compression. My notes for updates I'd like to see where different models (what it came with was super clean), to add some analog flavors, etc. So this likley addressed that . I'd like to also see the option for more "bands" in the zone section. Being able to compress one frequency zone is certianly a step up from most compressors, but seems like why not give the opiton to make it a multi-band as well if and when needed. I could see this being a real workhorse and go-to. Look forward to checking out the two new modes, if they are any good I can't possibly see any reason not to use this thing as a primary.

It talks about getting it free after lettiing the trial expire....I assume this means downloading all the content and then having to keep all of it on the HD to access the small portion that is actually free?
-
I think it feels and looks clunky and archaic. Own but never ever use it. Strongly prefer Affinity Photo for pixel based editing. The 50% off sale ended yesterday though that put it at the same ~$25 price. However, Affinity does still have a 90 day trial as far as I know right now...I'm guessing that would tide one over until $35 -40 sale at the very least. As for the spam, Corel is terrible about it, maybe not magix level, but then again who is?

Yes, that is the only comp in the v4 (with the limiter) I was refering too, as it has both a comp section and the limiter section, but the real focus is on the limiter. Barricade CM was my go to for years. v4 was even better.
-
I was literally looking at the Tonebosters lineup last night and trying to figure out why the only comp in the "v4" series was the one with the limiter. Can't wait to test this one out.

Yeah, I had to unsubscribe to a previous freebie they gave away.

That is what they charge you the $300 for the plugin version for. From what I messed around with, seems like you would need to make some approximations then use this as an overlay in a NLE. Has its uses as a standalone but think the real play here is to get you hooked enough to fork out the cash. ?
