Does Blue Cat's Axiom ever go on sale (not a deal...yet)?
Brian Walton replied to Mesh's topic in Deals
Even at 75% off, I'd pass. It doesn't sound like you are sold on it either. -
PreFET Transistor Pre-Amp Hardware Emulation (FREE)
Brian Walton replied to locrian's topic in Deals
Cool but seems like a resource hog for a saturation plugin in some quick tests. (just word of caution for those with older/lower spec machines) -
Almost agree except a stock computer isn't going to come with enough RAM. Most in that range are going to be 8 gigs and honestly 16 should be about the minimum (maybe 12 if one is not using many effects/vsts or tracks). But 8 really isn't enough. Other than that, as long as the computer has the graphics abilities to run Premiere Pro (OP likely needs to look up the requirements for that - without a dedicated graphics card) if he is going to get an off-the-shelf machine. Stock computers have plenty of CPU these days, and make sure to get an SSD for the operating system and enough to load the programs you have. Separate drive for Audio/Video projects. Note Premiere Pro will default storage to the C drive, and that can take up a lot of space.

Interview with Shane McFee, owner/developer of Kazrog
Brian Walton replied to Christian Jones's topic in Deals
Maybe move it to the Instruments and Effects forum? Doesn't really belong in the deals thread. -
In Larry's absense, the deals section has lost all law and order....as well as actual deals. ?

I believe this is just how Hidden set it up. If he chose to do so, I beleive the option to buy it would have been there. Other reports suggest Splice is the only way to accept payment, and for many of us, that is a limiting factor.
-
Seems strange, I looked them up expecting to see better rates or some advantage over Paypal in that area for the person receiving the payment, but the terms don't look any better. In fact, it looks like anyone opening a dispute about a charge will also hit the seller with a $15 dispute fee. Hope they get paypal added.

Also move Jamstix to the top of the list.

Larry's post was from March. Thread was bumped by someone else.

Along these lines as a supplement to them: ChordPotion

Nimbus upgrade from Phoenixverb or Excalibur
Brian Walton replied to Eusebio Rufian-Zilbermann's topic in Deals
It says "upgrade". Those that did this deal, did you keep ilok seats for both Phoenix and Excalibur in addition to the Nimbus seat addition? -
Also happy (and a little surprised) to report that it installed on 3 machines that I own. Based on other Reason products (with the dongle) I wasn't sure if they were going to allow it. Not really much in the package that you can't get for free that sounds as good or better though with other plugin makers. (IMO) But it is nice to have these within Bandlab, and I just uninstalled my old version of Reason that I installed with the intention of rewiring it, but never felt it was worth it.
-
It has been working well enough for a while now since release. I'm surprised they didn't raise the rate even more, unlike the vast majority of other VSTs on the market, this one actually supplies some real value to music creation.
-
Hit the drop down menu. Not sure why it defaults to the old, but should be there .
-
Yeah, that is what I thought to. I can't imagine there would be an issue based on this fact. But don't know, my version of reason is older than that and I never use it.
-
The Rack is here is a plugin. Does Reason 10 come with a VST plugin option?
-
I'm sure I'll grab this once I figure out something to buy. But not exactly earth shattering stuff in the package. The few VSTis in there are literally about 18 years old.
-
And good music too! Only question is on that page I don't see how it is setup to actually aquire the music other than to search for it on another platform.
-
I'm surprised at what a resource hog Iris 2 is though it has been on the market for a while. Certainly worth $10.

Feature Request: better display of note names in PRV
Brian Walton replied to John Bradley's topic in Feedback Loop
I'd like to see bigger, more legible text options. When you zoom in, to the PRV like this, there should be plenty of Space to make the Db 3 really stand out. -
Honestly there is no justification for it these days. I understood that mentality 20 years ago when all software for music production was expensive. Bandlab is free, and an absurd about of quality free plugins and VSTis on the market. Anyone that can't afford to pay, can use free. No longer any excuse at all. Anyone with any tallent and hardware (which you can' t get for free) can produce high quality recordings these days, with zero software costs.

I believe they have free updates forever according to the website.

Huge fan of Capture One for RAW editing myself too. Don't love the price and the costly upgrade path. But I'm on the latest and greatest and it is indeed the best RAW tool on the market. Anyone that shoots Nikon, Sony or Fuji should certainly at least be using the Free Express program.

I also own CS6, and while the subscription model is lame....the price of CS6 was even worse. However after switching to Affinity - CS6 feels very clunky. It doesn't even have live filter layers (something Affinity had before Adobe) In terms of the echosystem, the studio link of Affinity between photo, designer and publisher is what Adobe wishes they could do. As they continue to update it (free to customers thus far), I do like Premiere Pro CS6. Though Davinci Resolve it easily its equal or superior if you have a really good machine to run it on (and it is free)
