The stillness of the late-night hospital room is broken only by the gentle pulse of monitors. The air is thick with the overpowering perfume of flowers—an offering of comfort that feels almost intrusive. It’s quiet, but not peaceful. https://baselines.com/?p=7413

This is a song by the Global Remotes, a Bandlab band. @cocobark on piano and vocals, @gbaily on guitar, and @steve2k2 on bass, drums, synth and guitar. https://baselines.com/?p=5104

Thanks for listening!

Thanks Nigel - This was first written when I was transitioning from EZ Drummer to Superior Drummer 3. I have both of those on this track, but the main part is with Superior Drummer 3.

Thanks for the idea Rik - maybe when I pick this one up again, I'll put something in there. I'll keep that in mind.

I hear ya. I have only a few hardware pieces. I got the Babyface Pro, and I use the Behringer 8 Channel ADAT - Other than that, it's all plugins. I got the subscription to the Spark program which has a lot of Channel Strips, but I haven't tried them very much. The ones I have tried have too many knobs in one place, for me a recipe for disaster! When I first got the subscription, I used the 1176 compressors a lot, but I have moved to the LA-3A which currently I like. Perhaps in a few months I'll do the same thing and remove all the LA-3As and move to something else.

Thanks Kevin - well that made me feel like all the effort was worth it! I'm glad you liked it. Steve

Well done particularly the vocal.

A really good listen Barry - I always like your lyrics. I think you should go with your instincts about the strings. To me, the song is already good without them, but maybe they just need to be pulled back a little. Steve

Nice work on this. It flows very smoothly.

Nice work! Was that image a fractal inspired graphic? The bass is really nice on this one.

Great choice of backing. Love those chords with the second (I believe) added. The guitar lead sounds great!

Thank you for the great comment! About the drums, I agree I struggled with them. I kept taking little pieces out throughout the process. I want to try to make drums interesting where I can, I probably still overdid it! The original lyric was 'the sky' but it was too tempting to turn it into 'this guy'. 🙂 Steve

An original tune, updated for 2025. I used a bunch of my UAD goodies. I'm seriously considering getting FabFilter Pro Q 4, looks incredible. Any one have any feedback on that? https://baselines.com/?p=7393

Hi Kevin - thanks for listening! They use that octave vocal on a few of their songs - I really like that effect. Steve

Hi Jim - thanks for the kind words. Those guys had a bunch of hits. Maybe the biggest I remember is Tempted by the Fruit of Another - with Elvis Costello. Steve

Nice funky groove Mark, good work. Did you sign up for Sonar or are you using the free one? I just upgraded to a win 11 computer, and installed the latest free version on it. Pretty impressive. I was able to go to the old Cakewalk site and get the extras, like Dimension Pro, Z3ta, Rapture, etc. So far so good. The delayed startup at the beginning is a bit of a dick move, but overall, a good quality release.

Hi Kevin! you feel the car as it bounces over your tomb CLASSIC!!! I love this song, really good. You caught me in the middle of having a few, so now I will be adding a few more! Steve
