Sweetwater has the Kurzweil KM-88 for $350. I'm not a keyboardist, but the action feels nice to me - it has hammer action. It's minimalist, lacking any display, but has both midi and usb out. At this price I couldn't say no. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/KM88--kurzweil-km88-88-key-controller

New user. Can't record virtual instruments
rsinger replied to Neville John Pearson's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Most virtual instruments are played with MIDI. Are you recording the MIDI track? -
Why does everything have to be so complicated?
rsinger replied to Friv's topic in Instruments & Effects
I think you should use the right tool for the job. If all you want is a simple recorder this is the wrong app. You may be better served by voice/sound recorder or something similar. I'm sure there are very simple recording apps out there. CbB is not only a recording console it has some fx units and instruments as well. Kind of like having a recording studio. -
Please point me to list of win10 daw optimization
rsinger replied to Keni's topic in Computer Systems
That will depend on how your drives are organized. I don't know windows internals, but I would think files get indexed when they're created or modified. If you only have system files on the C drive then it probably doesn't matter. -

NP. I turn off indexing on all drives. I don't mind if searches take a bit longer if my audio is snappy. -

How to use Step Sequencer on multiple Take Lanes
rsinger replied to norfolkmastering's topic in Instruments & Effects
Another option is HW. Instruments like tr 808 or playing a moog with a sequencer isn't the same using a mouse or keyboard, although with quantization a person can probably get close with a keyboard. I picked up an SQ 64 last year while they were on sale. When I have some sequences I like I record them into CbB. -
I don't remember off the top of my head. Are you using the right input? There are two midi inputs IIRC.

Is There a Way to Run Multiple Instances of Cakewalk?
rsinger replied to david40's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
That's good to hear. It's not a big deal, but I have an audio I/F on a couple machines, and I have a Boss SY-1000 connected to them. When I'm just practicing/noodling around on guitar I often use the SY-1000 as an I/F and find myself switching between the two. -
That should be OK. I used a 10 year old laptop, but replaced it last year. I could easily get 20 or more tracks recorded. I didn't watch the video you posted. It should be fine. You can look through this as well. https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/pc-optimization-guide-for-windows-10/ Did you install the ASIO driver for your IF? Are you using it? Did you try different USB ports? I got an MSI gaming laptop last year. https://www.msi.com/Laptop/Crosshair-15-A11UX/ That screams. Now I'm about ready to upgrade my DAW. Also, make sure you don't have any browsers open and try turning on airplane mode.

If you're going into an amp sim turn down the output volume of the sim.
-
If the headphones are too loud turn down the headphone volume on the 2i2.

The update worked OK for me. I've just started playing with the CS version. Tone Junkie has some captures of an AC 30 and Trainwreck on toneNet if anyone is interested. Search TJ.

I think so. I've been using it for years. And I do tend to use it where I would use PS, although since IKM released Sunset Sound Studio, I use that as well at times. So many reverbs, so little time.

Guess I won't update ...

Compatible chord progression maker
rsinger replied to colandee@yahoo.co.uk's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I like BIAB, and if you just want to create chord progressions look into Scaler 2 as well. I use both. -
Testing Midi Latency Thanks for your help.

Just an FYI. USB C is a connector type. At this time, it could be USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 3.2 Gen 1x2, USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 or USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 aren't necessarily USB C, they can have USB A connectors. https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/what-is-usb-c-an-explainer -
Yes, the DAW is windows 10.

I have the M4 on my DAW and haven't had any problems.

Good to know. What disk partition tool did you use?

Adding drum loops to a song with just a click track
rsinger replied to GibsonL6s's topic in Instruments & Effects
Depends. If they are acid or similar, they will follow the projects bpm. If not, you may be able to stretch/shrink to fit or you convert to groove loops. I would first move a clip and get it set to the beat and do that for each and then arrange them. -
Eventide's Blackhole is a nice atmospheric reverb. There are a lot of nice delay plugins for guitar. Soundtoys Echoboy covers a lot of ground. Nomad Factory Echoes AudioThing Outer Space And many more ...

All drivers are there, but Sonar won't record...
rsinger replied to berdnyk's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
It doesn't help much, but I use a MOTU M4 with win10 and CbB. The ASIO drivers work fine. Based on the message it looks like another app has the drivers and isn't letting them go. If you start your system and don't do anything except power on the M4 and open CbB you still get that message?
