  1. Might be time to look into Win10 With th elicenser you could install on a Win10 machine and just copy the folder over to the Win7 machine and then copy registry over too but with the new licensing I don't know how to do it if it won't install in 8.1, sorry! Bill
  2. Hey Zo, if you're on 8.1 you can install 12, if you're on 8.0 you can probably install 12 through other means I ran Cubase 11 in Win7 with no issues Bill
  3. To be fair I built a robust system last year and can run half a dozen instances of Diva in god mode Bill
  4. I worked with the latest Kontakt 7 yesterday with no issues. Probably 6 instances with 8Dio, Lunaris, NI stuff, etc. Never had a problem with NI Access either...what am I doing wrong? Bill
  5. I'm still using my original Adam Audio A7's. $1,000 for the pair and they do a great job With that said if you can't listen to music where you are you need to either move or use a good set of studio headphones Bill
  6. It would be nice if subs were setup like Autodesk and Eon. I have a sub at both but my Eon sub for Vue is relatively cheap because it is a non-commercial sub...same software, just can't make money on it's use which is fine for the hobbyist. My sub at Autodesk for Maya allows income from software use up to $100,00 a year with the stipulation that it can't be used on a project that make more than that $100,00. I never understood why I have to pay the same as a multimillion dollar studio for the same software? Even worse if you work for a living and are just getting by you pay a lot more than someone who goes to school and doesn't pay taxes or do anything to benefit anyone but themselves! Crazy world! Bill
  7. Cubase depending on what you're looking for. As far as I kow Studio One has no sysex capability so if it's hardware synths and the like Cubase is for you, you can even create Studio Panels for your hardware to control it in Cubase. If you're looking at live performance Live is where it's at. If you're just using a lot of VSTi almost any DAW will get you there Bill
  8. I download when I purchase and then back up to bluray. If I don't have the room now I can always install later from back up when I do! It's not rocket science My current rig has 18tb of storage and has room for 4 more hdd and 1 more ssd or no more hdd and 2 more ssd. I never understood why people like to do things the hard way and then blame everyone else... Guess I'm old Bill
  9. The key is a string of numbers...look in your account or at the bottom of your invoice Bill

    Cubase 13

I use a lot of software...Cubase, Nuendo, Samplitude, Sound Forge, Wavelab, etc. and I've only encountered a single bug yet I see some people encounter bugs with absolutely every piece of software under the sun! The bug I ran across was in the last few releases of Sonar and every release of Cakewalk...the software would refuse to see my soundcard and I would have to delete a file and then setup my card like brand new...every time I opened the app! This was with a PCI card(Echo Layla 3G) in Windows 7 Pro so not a USB thing. I'm using a TB3 interface now(Presonus Quantum 2626) in Win 11 Pro and mostly using Nuendo with no problems. My DAW is TB4 but I couldn't find a good affordable interface so I went TB3 Bill
  11. I own Horizon v14 and some loose plugins and my upgrade price is 800! No thanks Bill
  12. Nice setup! Enjoy the new place Bill
  13. I figured it was worth the shot, thanks for letting me know! Bill
  14. Can you stack vouchers? I have a 50.00 monthly and everyone gets the 25.00 so....I'd like to grab Tape Face on the cheap side Bill
  15. I had a Sound City 120 head with a Sunn 610 reflex cabinet. Also at some point I had a nice Roland JC-120 Now guitar goes into a Line6 PodXT in bypass mode through a Mackie analog mixer into a Presonus Quantum 2626! Bill
  16. Sorry to hear Dave, friends are hard to come by and old friends even more so! Bill
  17. I got a 25.00 and a 50.00....how's that work? Bill
  18. Happy Birthday...installed? Bill
  19. My first build many moons ago wouldn't power up....forgot to put the standoffs in so the MB was contacting the case Put the standoffs in and voila! Bill
  20. I think when I upgraded my Win 10 to Pro it just enabled the extra features? Bill
  21. The laptop came with Win 11, the desktop I built so I bought Win 11 for that. I haven't had any troubles and it's been about 6 months or so on the desktop and even longer on the laptop. Bill
  22. My DAW went from Win7 Ultimate to a new system running Win 11 and my laptop went from Win 10 Pro to a new one running Win 11...overall I like Win 11 more than 10 but miss the control of Win 7! Bill
  23. I didn't like the context menu on right click...got tired of hitting more all the time so I used this to restore the old contextul menu- Restore old Context Menu in Windows 11 Right-click the Start button and choose Windows Terminal. Copy the command from below, paste it in Windows Terminal Window, and press enter. reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve Restart File Explorer or your computer for the changes to take effect. You would see the Legacy Right Click Context menu by default. The Registry change masks the new COM object that executes the compact menus with the "Show more options" entry. Once you get this performed, Explorer reverts to the Legacy context menu. Restore Modern Context menus in Windows 11 To undo this change, in an elevated Terminal Window, execute this command: reg.exe delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}" /f Restart the File Explorer or Computer for the changes to take effect. These steps can help you to enable the old context menu in Windows 11. I also edited the location of the toolbar items...I have them on the left where they belong....you can look that up if you're interested. I bought a new laptop and built a new desktop so they've only seen Win 11...I actually like it better than 10...though it's not a lot different. Using Google Play on my desktop is cool Good luck! Bill
  24. Wavelab integrates with Cubase and you can send audio files back and forth the same way you can with Cakewalk and Sound Forge. For mastering you would setup a montage which allows full control over each track or parts of the tracks for fades, fx, etc. You can generate a DDP file, export as mp3, etc. Personally I like that if I don't use every feature it's still there if I need it in the future...beats buying new software every time you want to do something not in your current program. With Nuendo there's a few things I'll use now but I'm thinking about making vids in the future and Nuendo will be handy! Bill
