  1. or add a volume automation on your master buss (output) and fade it there.
  2. if i have the "ask each time" checked = ok, works as expected. if i uncheck it, then add same synth, the options for the automation track are not showing up: with it checked when adding synth:
  3. coolio ?i figured this out a while back -- very annoying... yeah, the images are all under open http vs the site with TLS... so i set my browser shortcuts to only use the http...
  4. one free option (perhaps already mentioned) might be something like Chordz (or Ripchord)? you can record the inputs via the "preview" (and other means) on the keyboard, and create custom chords etc. plus its free ? (as is Ripchord).
  5. no worries. it took me about a year to keep relearning this for the EQ and so i have a ton of PC presets just for EQ and more for EQ + other modules... 2023 -- i promise to clean this up ? LOL
  6. did you share the dmp file with the folks at Mixed in Key?
  7. -- you want to enable "give all keystrokes to plugin" as the default setting across all plugins? meaning when i give focus to a plugin, the default is set to ensure all keystrokes are applied to the selected plugin. i might go one step further - remember the enable or disable mode for each plugin - as well as global default - this way i can decide which plugins will use the keyboard to set values (assuming i can either have a default control to alter, or tab / shift-tab to a control), and others will not respond to the keyboard input (e.g. i want to use a mouse or control surface knob).
  8. you used the overall PC preset (which if you have more modules than EQ, they would be included) for EQ -- it's the waveform symbol ? to the left of the < > arrows --- click on the waveform symbol (help tip labeled in the image as "no preset") and then you will see the popup of the presets + option to save a new one ?
  9. on the plugin window, click on the keyboard icon in the upper right:
  10. click on the "waveform" symbol next to the < > presets.
  11. i've been doing something similar for vocals and solos - a new arrangement for the vocal or soloing tracking, export as audio the arrangement. new recording project (so i'm not weighted down by the source project), record, comp, etc etc. export the vocals / solos. re-import into the master project and reset the arrangement to the primary one. the extra step of another project dedicated to vocals and solos is simply due to machine limits at the moment...
  12. i use "I" + ## + "short track type name" + # and "Z" + ## + "short track type name" + # for MIDI. then i can use the sorting function on tracks and all audio are upfront and all MIDI in the back... i leave a gap on the ## of 5 so i can insert additional tracks of the type: e.g. I20 BASS1, I21 BASS2, I25 AGUITAR1, I26 AGUITAR2 etc. if i need another bass, i insert a track (likely a corresponding MIDI if using VI) like I22 BASS3, etc and if the ordering gets skewed during the mapping of imported tracks etc, a quick sort puts them all in order (and they get colourised when i assign them to a buss). since most of my projects are less than 30 tracks this works + room for more. if i went to say 500 tracks regularly (e.g. each string on each instrument on a separate track like in the 90's LOL), then i'd have to improve the numbers to ### ?
  13. thanks! it is possible that the breaks with the piano chops are somewhat ragged but i think when i was doing the MIDI bits i thought - hey why not leave it a bit rough on the turnarounds -- but i'll check it out ?
  14. hmmmm. best guess - a bunch of synths etc and spending lots of time to remix and create... best bet - write them and ask them what they're using? About - Alan Walker https://alanwalker.com/about/ Bio & photos - Kygo | Official Site (kygomusic.com) https://www.kygomusic.com/biography/ not sure you'll find the tools they use for free, but likely you can find tools for free with which you could emulate the sounds to some degree.
  15. yeah, except when you're halfway through that bottle of red wine you packed with peyote... LOL ?
  16. i don't know about that. i've seen people get professional results from Logic, Ableton, and FL ? so it's definitely the craftsman, not the tools ?
  17. ah, i run my login as admin all the time to avoid weird installation and access issues (although a couple of apps (i won't mention sampletank) are problematic even when i'm admin...) glad it's working! i find it to be a very useful tool when composing and getting some esoteric chords / patterns going.
  18. it will be curious to see if the scaler forum group has any ideas. i never used the demo version - i just waited until it was on sale ($30?) and bought it because the features seemed to be just what i was looking for in my composition workflow.
  19. two settings to check - MIDI base note offset and the Key+ transpose in the MIDI track https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR X2&language=3&help=Playback.30.html some devices want to start with a MIDI number that is different than the CW default.
  20. mmm and you looked under the uncategorized folder in the browser? and you're using the defaults not a custom library?
  21. in my setup (full version of scaler 2) - after re-scanning the VST, it's automatically added to the "generator" section of synths (or "uncategorized" if not found there) then add it with the usual midi and first audio settings. the plugin uses the MIDI and audio devices you have setup in CW
  22. @arthur killen the problem with all the audiophile stuff is the room. i've been fortunate to have built some of the finest critical listening rooms as well as experience them. most of those rooms cost literally tens of millions of dollars to create and then a lot of money to operate and keep calibrated as the materials and systems age. so the idea that a few grand of equipment (a studio monitor worthy of 768Khz would be $80K each -- and no audiophile speaker is really going to match that until you hit $200K each). so - does good equipment matter? definitely. does it really matter that your recording process / work of studio, equipment, writers, performers, and distributors boils down to listening to an MP3 file? not really. so if you're making music for audiophiles - awesome. you may have to wait a bit for the plugins etc to catchup though...
  23. and the hyper-twisted platinum coated silver power cord ($15K each), audio wiring ($32K each), optical cable ($14K each), and speaker wires ($2K/ft). power filtration ($47K), faraday cage ($200K depending on room size), and the proper furniture polish to "soften harsh reflections" ($500 per 8oz) @Byron Dickens -- this isn't hogwash for the people who can hear it ? lol -- i should know. i sell a lot of my special blend "acoustic perfection furniture polish -- unscented" ? lol
  24. example: each "track" = "song" - each one is offset from each other (often in a linear fashion like an EP) by dragging the clips. and then you do whatever to set volume eq etc... then output to the master stereo buss. or export each as individual files (like if you were going to upload them) etc. later when you are more experienced - you can assign each track (clip) as an arranger section so you can easily re-order the song sequence (i'd go so far as to suggest "blank" sections as "spacers"). but let's start with the basics... ? also, if you have not read the manual, strongly and highly recommended so you can grasp the basics of this DAW. cheers!
  25. this is a song my friend wrote back in high school (1970's) with some updates...
