Using Scaler 2 in Cakewalk -- Solved
Glenn Stanton replied to henkejs's topic in Instruments & Effects
in my setup (full version of scaler 2) - after re-scanning the VST, it's automatically added to the "generator" section of synths (or "uncategorized" if not found there) then add it with the usual midi and first audio settings. the plugin uses the MIDI and audio devices you have setup in CW -
@arthur killen the problem with all the audiophile stuff is the room. i've been fortunate to have built some of the finest critical listening rooms as well as experience them. most of those rooms cost literally tens of millions of dollars to create and then a lot of money to operate and keep calibrated as the materials and systems age. so the idea that a few grand of equipment (a studio monitor worthy of 768Khz would be $80K each -- and no audiophile speaker is really going to match that until you hit $200K each). so - does good equipment matter? definitely. does it really matter that your recording process / work of studio, equipment, writers, performers, and distributors boils down to listening to an MP3 file? not really. so if you're making music for audiophiles - awesome. you may have to wait a bit for the plugins etc to catchup though...

and the hyper-twisted platinum coated silver power cord ($15K each), audio wiring ($32K each), optical cable ($14K each), and speaker wires ($2K/ft). power filtration ($47K), faraday cage ($200K depending on room size), and the proper furniture polish to "soften harsh reflections" ($500 per 8oz) @Byron Dickens -- this isn't hogwash for the people who can hear it ? lol -- i should know. i sell a lot of my special blend "acoustic perfection furniture polish -- unscented" ? lol

How to merge two tracks consecutively into one output file
Glenn Stanton replied to Alan Megna's question in Q&A
example: each "track" = "song" - each one is offset from each other (often in a linear fashion like an EP) by dragging the clips. and then you do whatever to set volume eq etc... then output to the master stereo buss. or export each as individual files (like if you were going to upload them) etc. later when you are more experienced - you can assign each track (clip) as an arranger section so you can easily re-order the song sequence (i'd go so far as to suggest "blank" sections as "spacers"). but let's start with the basics... ? also, if you have not read the manual, strongly and highly recommended so you can grasp the basics of this DAW. cheers! -
this is a song my friend wrote back in high school (1970's) with some updates...

How to use melodic MIDI loops to follow MIDI Chord track?
Glenn Stanton replied to Misha's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
yeah BIAB is awesome - i use both the standalone and the plugin versions. -
basically -- using page up/down steps through the list of keys so you're not simply scrolling endlessly. for me, i see a whole bunch spread across a big splash screen which allows me to select pretty quickly.

and you're using the 12-bit crusher effect on the torn cone edge recording made via a 50 year old SM-57 through the 20 bit 48K ADAT... nothing says love like resampling to 768Khz to get that really crisp leading edge transient that fans go crazy for... listening on the 16-bit 44.1Khz lossy file format audio on the subway ride...

too much spare disk space and cpu? ?

How to merge two tracks consecutively into one output file
Glenn Stanton replied to Alan Megna's question in Q&A
or, following up on InstrEd idea - you can "stagger" the content on each track so it effectively forms an "album" -- each song separated by about 2 seconds. then each track can still be tweaked (eq, levels etc -- to "master" them) and then export as a single file... -
brilliant! kudos given how much work this must have taken!

BEST PLUGIN FOR EXTRACTING STEMS?
Glenn Stanton replied to user390096's topic in Instruments & Effects
i just use busses with the components in it (drums, bass, guitars, keys, vox, etc etc) - w/o group reverbs - and simply use the CW export tool. set the output to busses, select the "stem" busses, etc. then save as a task (so it's easy to repeat). export. i do the same when recording - export tracks from my recording template then import into mix template. the reason for not exporting the busses with the group reverbs is to avoid having the reverb share tracks across stems. whoever is working with the stems later can add their own reverb to it. or if it's important, export the reverbs as separate stems. i set up subfolders in the project exported audio folder - "tracks" and "stems". ---- never mind i misread this. you're looking to split a single file into stems... i tried out the deeter software - it is definitely cool, however, you need a fast machine otherwise this can take several hours to run... the end result though are pretty intelligently split instrument tracks... -
most programs are fairly small compared to content like samples etc. so i only create junctions for content subfolders. some programs, as scook has explained, will break - to wit - sampletank --- i cannot find a reliable way to get the content off the "user/public/documents" folder without it breaking. so i left it. most other programs will let you do it - even the Waves stuff i've moved content out and updates seem to work fine and put the content onto the right mapped folder.

yes, however in our brave new world of doxing, social media activism, employer harassment, name calling amplified on multiple platforms, etc. someone can be targeted and destroyed should someone get a bug up their you-know-what and make it their right to do the wrong things... just saying...

set track one as the track source, voice set to side chain, and create a send on track 2 to the OVox. and from there play with various settings ?

thanks! yes it's an original - i wrote it when i was in Amsterdam in 2015 as part of my efforts to keep up with the other singer/songwriters ? at a weekly open mic @ the backstage hotel, which set the requirement for only original songs. i was watching "old yeller'" or something and thought about needing a soundtrack at the end of the movie - i tend to do a lot - writing while watching tv with the sound off... lol. yes, definitely some tweaks will be needed on the next mix...

Notes Browser text bold defeat switch needed
Glenn Stanton replied to David_'s topic in Feedback Loop
creating? == notepad++ -> create & save master text file -> copy & paste into notes. ? update? == notepad++ -> edit & save master text file -> copy & paste into notes. ? templating? -- check spellcheck? -- check precision content edits? -- check no loss if crash during notes edit? -- check highly reusable outside of CW? -- check cons: alt-tab to switch between CW and notepad++... lol -

i have a MASTER - which i run the C4 MB compressor to set of general overall mix level and via pre-fader sends to a PRINT buss (which is the no hardware output buss i use to export a stereo file), and MST-12 buss (which is set to -12 on its fader) to quickly switch between normal volume and low volume without changing faders. for surround i replace those with surround busses and some of the submix and reverb busses also (this is a separate template based on my generic mix template).
