  1. I can always find something useful in U-He Zebra so it's become one of my go-to synths. Diva is very good too. You can download the demo and check it out. I agree U-He is maybe more expensive than some others but worth it IMO.

Wookie Very nice on the sweeping synths that bring to mind crashing waves. You posted something kinda similar a while ago that sounded like breathing. Someone else mentioned twinkling stars which is what I'd thought of too. I think this is one of your best songs that I've heard so far.

Joad, freddy, Paul, Tom, Gary and Douglas Thank you! Douglas, I haven't heard of Elliott Smitt. Will check him out. Thanks. Gary, I tend to keep the volume down on my voc because maybe it will sound better.

    Belladonna

I like this one a lot! Definitely has that Santana sound. Great job.
  5. Excellent! Right up there with Scott Joplin. I don't think you need a drum track or anything else for this genre, but if you're getting back into DAWs and you have all these VSTs to play around with then can't blame you for adding something in. ?
  6. Entertaining for sure. So is that your voice with some weird vocoder thingy?
  7. Michael The vocal is outstanding and the guitars are too. I listened to the song three times via headphones and speakers and I'm still having trouble making out some of the words. Maybe the guitars are too loud in places? But also likely that it's just me and I'm failing a hearing test. Probably didn't help you with this critique but there's my 2 cents.

Thanks John. The song is original. As to my voice, what you hear is the result of hours of piecing together many takes, Melodyne corrections (as much as possible), Izotope mouth de-clicking and then toning down all the hard consonants (which software can't do.) The guitar is NI Strumming Gtr and I think it was 12 string. Not near my computer at the moment.
  9. I already have 16 Orange Tree instruments so gonna pass on this one. I highly recommend MesaWinds if you need an ethereal Grand Canyon kind of sound.
  10. Yeah, beautiful song. I liked them both. Really nice to relax to.

    City Girls

Gary Professional caliber performance again. I've listened to some "today's" country music on a local radio station and it all seems bland to me. What you're singing seems to be country music from maybe 60's-80's (?) which has melody and a lot of character to it.

Bob Thanks. You're always that shot in the arm with your nice comments. Yeah, late 60's early 70's music is where I still am I guess. You know, back when music was good. ? martins and amiller thanks for listening and commenting.
  13. Cool song. Love the lyrics and guitar. Freddy is an amazingly good gtr player and also the nicest guy around here. I thought I had Jesse all figured out but things are shifting. Sounds a bit like that guy in the B-52s here and then there's all those coherent posts in the forum lately. Don't know what to think any more. ?

Opposites Sung in the vocal styling of Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and other bad singers. I've come to terms with my singing - it pretty much sucks. But I like to write lyrics that are meaningful to me so I want to tell the story myself. Thanks for listening.
  15. Jesse You posted a song a while ago about trying to get someone out of your mind by drinking etc. I remember because it motivated me to write something similar. And speaking of hearing anomalies, lately anything in the 4.7K Hz freq sounds distorted to me so certain songs sound like a radio that's not tuned in correctly. Anyway, I really like this song esp the guitar playing.
  16. Wookie Thanks for listening and commenting. You weren't supposed to withdraw funds with my bank info, you were supposed to deposit money. So give it back and then chip in a few extra bucks. Thank you. Douglas Sadly Alchemy is no longer available in the PC world. I think it's a Mac program now with a different name.
  17. JohnB, amiller, kakku Thanks for listening and commenting. Steve and JohnB, once I've put you to sleep the subliminal messages I've inserted will go to work. Do you feel it, that irresistible urge to send me money....
  18. I like the Devo-esque sound of this. Whatever treatment you did with the vocal works well to make it stand out and it's appropriate for the quirkiness.
  19. Thanks Grem. The sound designers for Dream Voices did a great job manipulating the voices of the three ladies on the library.
  20. Playing around with Alchemy Dream Voices again. I like the quirkiness of this library. Thanks for listening Alchemy Omnisphere Zebra Diva Repro-5

    Your Man

I'm not familiar with Josh Turner but you've nailed that country sound for sure. Excellent vocal - I'm impressed and jealous. Can I ask how you got the pedal steel guitar?
  22. John The piano and flute work together well to bring out the melody (great melody!). The strings came in at the right time. I did notice a volume change around 3:30 when Session Strings (?) came in but not really distracting. Not sure if you even need those pizzicato sounds there or that synth around 3:50. Nice job on arranging the piano, flute and bg strings. I like this one a lot!
  23. Groove3 already has tutorials on Massive X https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/MASSIVE-X-Tips-and-Tricks There probably are tutorials on YouTube as well. Haven't checked. Not that I need a tutorial. ..?

    Tangle

Nice one Andy. Listening to this I found myself trying to follow the evolving layers, looking for repeating patterns and such. Which to me was as enjoyable as listening to the music, nerd that I am. Great video too. I thought the drum track was very good too. Maybe you owe your kid a favor now like coming up with a head banging drone creation.
