[SOLVED] Is there a scrub tool in CbB?
brandon replied to Christian Jones's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
hi -I have tried to work in in audio tacks the same way as I do midi tracks. i.e. by holding down the J key while dragging with the mouse. Is this the correct way? -
I tried opening the clip as 'loop construction' but it still only opens one sample rather than the whole audio file as your has above. I tried alt 7 too. To be honest I havent created a loop (at least not to my knowledge). All I have done is insert a number of instances of the same sample (one at a time). Maybe I should have inserted them another way?

[SOLVED] Is there a scrub tool in CbB?

Did the scrub tool ever work on audio tracks? It doesnt now but i have a recollection from the earlier days that it did. It might be a useful addition. -
Thank John. I think you hit the nail on the head. The track is essentially a number of cow bell samples. What I havent done is combine them into one audio track and thats why it is only bringing up one audio sample in audio view. Still odd though and not what I would expect.

Fantastic ?? and so simplistic!

Is there a way of doing the above with the click of a mouse a and dropdown menu? CPA 9 was the biz for being able to do this. My neck, eyes and head get very strained having to keep looking up to the left and down and again and up to the left...etc just to select a note (or similar) then attemp to to edit it. Have I missed something? TIA.

Ok here is the cowbell at track 13. Lots of little samples. Double click on the track and this is all I get

I inserted a number of snare drum samples into a project in a single track and then 'combined' them all to make what i thought would be a single take. It plays fine. But when i go to view it there is only 16 samples showing in the audio view when there are actually 120 samples being played. I need to get int the audio to edit it but am struggling. Any ideas why this might be?

Thank you. I also came across this site which has thousands of free samples of just about most things. https://www.looperman.com/

Yes thanks. Its got a good selection of stuff. I havent come across the exact sound yet but i will know when i hear it.
-
Thank you - I think I checked that I may have visited that site as the samples all seem to be synthesised.

I have been scouring the internet for a single bell (wav) sound -the tolling type that appears on some classic rock tunes. All to no avail. I believe that the nearest i will get to it is a sample of a tubular bell. But the ones i have come across sound synthesised. Does anyone know of any or even has a sample of a single bell preferably in the key of B (but not absolutely necessary) with a 2 to 3 second tail? Thanks in advance

I just realised that the 11 channels that I am outputting to are 11 pairs of mono tracks as opposed to 11 stereo tracks. I cant for the life of me figure how to get the output to stereo if anyone has knowledge of this?
-
Thank you scook. It explains the 'problem' but it seems like a lot of work to obtain something that should be quite fundamental and represent 'progress' in sampling drum kits. I am now routing the microphones to 11 channels in Cake. But there are sounds appearing in 23 channels in the tracks view. Which is very odd. And beyond me I guess.
-
Its either a CbB limitation or a feature of the drum kit but there are only 16 channels available in this VST (what I mean is I want to split the sound onto individual channels in CbB). For some reason the Crash and the Ride Cymbals dont show up in the mixer and I would like to know how I can 'get them in there'. However first I would need to free up a couple of channels and the only option is to remove a couple of the room microphones but I have tried everything and cannot find out how to do either of these things. If anyone has any experience with this VST I would be glad to hear from them - I understand the free version does not have any (real) limitations when compared to the full version. Thanks in advance

Cheers Paul - the Focusrite 2i4 works on USB power hence the reason i cant turn it on or off. Its not the best design in the world and i do wish it did have an on/off switch but it is effective and suits my needs.

Hi - there may be some confusion - I use the Asio drivers for the Focusrite and it works fine. When I use the Realtec it relies on the Wasapi driver but for some reason nothing is being detected since I unplugged the Focusrite, changed the driver (to wasapi) and attempted to listen to audio through the Realtec. I have since changed the driver from wasapi exclusive to wasapi shared and the Realtec now works but it is likely to be higher latency then when in the 'exclusive' mode (which it has been in previously for some time).

Thanks for the tip on the settings-system-sounds I will give it a go. I found the Asio driver doesnt work with the Realtek. The projects just hang and wont open. The main reason I prefer the in-built audio when using the PC casually is that the Scarlett 2i4 does not have an on/off switch and I hate leaving things turned on just for the sake of it and this means my powered speakers would also need to be turned on all the time. I only use these things when recording/mixing so dont see the need for them to be available all the time. And I also like to hear the music I create through PC speakers (which in my case they are Dell and sound pretty damn good) or headphones as this is what 99% of anyone listening to it will be using so I get an idea of what they are hearing. Thanks

The Focusrite works fine I downloaded the drivers before using it.

My Windows 10 (64 bit) PC has the inbuilt Realtek sound card and I have a Focusrite Scarlett audio interface (AI). Its a new PC and I havent really plugged the AI in much at all. Drivers are installed for the Realtek and the AI although I have been doing much of my editing using the Realtek. Tonight I plugged the AI in to do some audio recording and although CbB recognised the AI i still had to manually change the driver type to Asio. After this I could record and playback with ease. Anyhow - for reasons which are personal to me after I finished recording I unhooked the AI so that I could listen through the Realtek as I watched Youtube tutorials and other web stuff. I closed down the PC and when I opened it I went in to CbB to listen to some stuff. I knew I would have to change the driver back to Wasapi (I have done this in the past) but for some reasons my projects opened with the message that I have copied below. I have checked the playback and recording settings and the drivers and they are all as they should be. (see below). And I wondered if anyone can spot anything I may have missed or advise me what i can do to sort this out? My apologies for the pics as they take up so much room but they do paint a 1000 words. Thank you

Thanks Scook so in step 9 is there an option not to delete the contents of the stated directories? Also on an uninstall/reinstall am i right in thinking I wont need to download the programme again - the original download will still be on my PC?
-
If i was to do an uninstall then reinstall would I have to install all of the add ons again i.e. SI Instruments and TTS1 for example or will they be left as they are when I uninstall? Thanks

Durham UK. Been a cake user since Cakewalk Apprentice came free with a Soundblaster card in the early 1990s. Went through the cake audio programmes to Cake Pro 9 which to me was the best ever along with the Sounblaster Live card. What a dynamic duo they were too. I lost touch in the early Sonar days preferring to stick with Pro 9. Had a few years off then got back into the latter products but never fully mastered them (or had enough time). Have had CbB for a few weeks now and just getting the hang of it hence my frequent requests for assistance on this forum which is greatly appreciated guys.

Beautiful part of the world though - as is the west coast.
