I really enjoy the chord changes you're using here and the rhythm. As Mark said, it's reminiscent of "Low Spark" by Traffic, especially the Chris Wood sax solo in the middle. ? John B

Wow, Nigel. I think you and Devine Lie have outdone yourselves on this. Your stuff is always top notch in every way but this has a superb-ness all on its own. And the message is so strong. Something we should all think about. ? John B

Great use of freebees. The rhythm is catchy and you provide some great ear candy with the rest. I have some freebies from years ago that I kept and backed up. My favorite has always been the Mini DIZI flute by Chinesewinds. I use it quite a bit in my tunes. I got it from KVR Audio some years back but I don't if I'd trust it now. Too many viruses and malware for me. ?

Thank so much, Treesha. ? John B

I like this a lot. The rather freestyle "swing" to the drums especially stands out as different. Many would opt for a more "stable" sound, but this works good. ? John B

Mesmerizingly different. Delightful. ? John B

Kurt, Jack & Noynekker-Thanks so much for listening, guys. You're right, John. That's how I figure most people listen nowadays too, which is why I always give it a listen on my phone after I upload. I'm especially glad it sounds excellent on your phone because not all phones are alike in that respect. ? ? John B

On faith, learning and natural beauty. Hope you like it. https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14275038 ? John B

Yeah, the accents in the bass were intentional. Thanks Freddy. ?John B

Ahhhhh! So relaxing after spending a steamy hot morning sweating my butt off mowing my lawn in 90+ degree weather. Not only is the music a great soundtrack, but the pictures are fascinating as well. Thank you so much for bringing my blood pressure down. ? John B

Treesha, this is so good. Quite different. Not only are your lyrics uplifting, but the instrumentation is pleasantly unusual. I have to ask you, what is that horn thing you got going on there? Sounds almost like a saxophone, but not quite. I love it! And the beat is infectious! I'm awestruck. ? John B

Thanks so much, Esther! ?JB

Welcome Esther! ? This is a great piece of work. Everything about it shines and you give us so much "ear candy" including your wonderful voice. I love your accent. Is that a French Canadian accent I'm hearing? Just guessing, but I love it. You are gifted. Looking forward to hearing more of your work. ? John B

I thought the solo cello towards the beginning was too loud anyway, so I brought it down. I checked and the verb was "baked in" from the instrument (UVI player). I took it completely down at those spots and did a Send Return reverb (Breverb) in the mix. I like it better that way anyway. Thanx! Yeah, a pro would probably mix the whole thing different anyway (or more than likely, just shoot it down). ?JB

I have a dedicated music computer. It's a Lenovo Core i5 (full description in my signature below) running Windows 8. Lately, I've been getting blue screen errors that say IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL and it has to restart. When it does restart it sometimes takes an awful long time to. It will get up to the Welcome Screen and take several minutes there or it will go from Welcome to a dark blank screen for sometimes are song as 10 minutes or more before Windows finally starts. I'm seeing this happen in a pattern now where when the Performance meter memory in Cakewalk (bottom line) gets above 15% it will go into a blue screen and do what I described above. Then, when it reboots and I restart Cakewalk the Performance meter will go down to about 8%, but creep it's way back up gradually and eventually does BS error again. I thought it was driver problems with my Scarlett but it happened when I swapped that out for my old Toneport UX2. My PC tech says it could mean different things. Back in 2019 I upgraded from 8 gb RAM to 16. I don't think it did any of this before then. Any ideas? ?John B

This is different than your usual style, Fred. Sounds more Pop than Blues but you pull it off nicely. Lyrics are so true. We never got hurricanes up where I am until 2012 with Sandy. Now I dread it as much as anybody else does. You never know where they're gonna go. ?John B

Hey Tom. Thanks so much for your observations. Fact is, you and Jessie are correct. It is "experimental". It just kind of rolled off my back. I had more fun creating it but take it less seriously than some of my other tunes. You are also right regarding the bass velocities in Trilian but the kind of bass you choose also plays into that funkyness factor. String verb? I think it is "baked in" but I'm not sure. I'll have to check the settings in the project. I could adjust it. Would you suggest more or less? ? John B

Dave, this is so great. I LOVE everything about it. So much energy in the music, singing and imagery. The eagle fits perfectly. ? John B

Amazon brand guitar strings? Whats next, AMZ DAW?
Johnbee58 replied to Clovis Ramsay's topic in The Coffee House
I wonder who really makes their strings. Could be D'Addario? Could be Martin? Could be Earnie Ball? You know Amazon doesn't make strings. They buy from somebody else, put their name on them and resell. ?John B -
Sounds like a great start but could use a bit more development. But you're probably already working on that. Unlike some of the others above, I think the bass is OK as is. ? John B

Nigel, your productions, both musical and video, are always top notch and a pleasure to partake of. Your singer has such a lovely and unique contralto. Beautiful! ? John B

I think this would've worked GREAT with a fireworks display, but unfortunately so many organizations want to stick with only "professional" productions because they know the audience will relate because they've heard it before. It would be nice if they approached it with an open mind and tried something new for a change. ? John B

@Kevin Walsh-Thank you for listening, Kev @Jesse Screed-Thanks Jess @noynekkerThank you-As far as explanation of lyrics, Sorry, no can do. I'm not quite clear myself what I'm saying. I can tell you that "my love's all right now" is not referring to a person. I think it's my music. @Bajan BlueThank you, Nigel @Lynn Wilson-Thanks so much, Lynn @bjornpdxThanks Bjorn! ?JB Oh, forgot to add. Thanks for pointing out the bass volume issue. I wanted to work on that today but didn't get around to it. When I do I will post an updated mix.
