  1. Did you overlook the other IK library "Fractured Piano", another of their Cinekinetik series? https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/stfracturedpiano/ "Fractured Piano offers a wild variety of altered keyboard sounds. Designed to stir emotion and build tension, the library features sci-fi, cosmic and eerie sounds, action-driven percussive sounds and acid keys, along with dystopian harpsichords and other imaginary or futuristic sounds. It includes 5.4 GB of sample content and 37 SampleTank 4 instrument presets perfect for anything from film scoring to modern pop music production or general funky vibes." "Most of the “Piano Howling” family of presets were created by actually screaming into the piano frame, and some were produced using other tricks. Cymbal Felts were used in different positions pushing and damping the short strings section before the hammers, to produce 4 different sounds (“oscillators” in the sound element) for the “Piano Felt Bass” and other presets using the piano sustain pedal."
  2. Uh-oh. Now I have another dilemma... ? Just realized that the Biotek 2 expansions that normally sell for $50 can be had at JRR for $25.20 with code "GROUP".
  3. That's really weird, sorry to hear that! Did you try the live chat widget on their home page? Maybe some unfortunate person is actually working this weekend...
  4. Well I already spent $12 of that on a silly product at Plugin Boutique so that I could get a free silly product for free! ?
  5. I'm sure that you may already be aware of this, but tossing this out there just in case... If you are copying and pasting an access key make sure that you are not copying any empty spaces at either the beginning or end of the key. These spaces are ascii characters that can make the entered key appear incorrect to the program. I usually click my cursor in line within the entry box and backspace or delete any blanks after pasting to be sure. I have had this happen a number of times with various programs...
  6. Don't have F'em yet, so cannot speak to any randomize features in that one. But just guessing based on the Biotek 2 synth by the same dev, I doubt it. There's just too many possible combinations of variables in a synth other than a pure subtractive synth to achieve anything useful at random. I suppose if you could freeze most of the preset and just randomize one section at a time that might be workable, but that's probably a huge ask to implement.
  7. LABS is just a free basic multi-sample player with a few controls, for indie samplists to provide content for. It works as intended, with generally very diverse and unusual sounds to expand your sonic palette with. As far as I know, only dedicated drum samplers offer multi-channel outputs per kit piece.
  8. That's why the discussions here on the "Deals" forum can help us decide what to proceed with or to avoid. Obvious axe grinding rants are to be ignored of course! ?
  9. Good news! MNTRA has finally gotten rid of that stupid Pulse authorization and downloader app with MNDALA 2! All of the authorization and downloading now takes place native inside the MNDALA 2 plugin! Great job!
  10. $400 is still nosebleed territory for me, but if I hadn't already had some unexpected expenses this year I would probably have jumped on that price!
  11. Right now at Musician's friend Omnisphere 2 is listed at $479, but with coupon code "LABOR" it's another -$71.85 off (15%), so that makes it $407.15 total in the cart. Free delivery. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/spectrasonics-omnisphere-2
  12. Just be aware that if you own any existing MNTRA libraries, they won't load in MNDALA 2, which is required to run Huracan. So far that's the only v2 library. I downloaded MNDALA 2 today to check it out. The good news is that you can run MNDALA 1 and 2 side by side, which you will still need to do to load your existing v1 libraries. MNDALA 1 is still running well here. The MNTRA website indicates that upgrades are coming for the v1 libraries, and that you will be able to add them to MNDALA 2 as they are released.
  13. Just wait till @Christian Jonessees the Death Whistle. He's been looking for some creepy stuff! ?
  14. I already have that feature set to "Off" here in Windows 10. I wonder if that also could be an issue on this version of Windows?
  15. Well if you are really wanting to buy something to score this freebie, MNTRA also has another library on sale for $12.00. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/64-Virtual-Instrument/8109-Ultrasonic-Death-Whistle So you can score a MNTRA twofer by buying Ultrasonic Death Whistle, then Huracan is all yours!
  16. I'm waffling on the 11-operator F'em synth, even at $24. It's from the same demented mind that designed Biotek, Wolfram Franke. But somehow I think FOMO may get the best of me, even though I had tried the F'em demo when it was first released and decided that one extremely complex synth was already enough (Biotek). Might as well make it two! ?
  17. It's much deeper than vintage Roland or Korg synths. It's a rather complex soft synth on a new level, with up to 12 layers, that each have up to 4 oscillators. So it's almost like 12 synths in one. The 4 oscillators on each layer can independently be any of these types: sample, sine, triangle, pulse, saw, white noise, pink noise, granular, spinal saw. Each layer has 2 filters, 4 effects, 8 LFO's, 4 envelopes, plus its own arpeggiator and modulation matrix. The samples can come from the stock Biotek library, or you can import your own. Many of the factory presets use samples of nature sounds, blended with the synth oscillators to create cinematic soundscapes. But as you can see from the Arachnid expansion demo, it can do EDM as well, or just about anything you can think of. It's enough to make your brain (or your PC) explode, especially if you dive into the countless modulations possible with 48 oscillators, 24 filters, 48 effects, 96 LFO's, 48 envelopes, 2 arpeggiators, & 12 mod matrices. Not to mention that you can automate nearly everything, including the x-y morphing between layers. Realistically though, the majority of the factory presets only use 1 to 4 layers, sometimes a few more, and don't use all the resources available at the same time. But the possibilities are there...
  18. Until September 5th. https://www.gog.com/en/game/immortal_redneck
  19. In fact, all Biotek 2 expansions are on sale at JRR for $30 https://www.jrrshop.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=biotek&order=relevance&dir=desc
  20. Biotek 2 Arachnid expansion $30 now at JRR https://www.jrrshop.com/tracktion-arachnid-edm-expansion-pack-for-biotek
  21. By the same developer as F'em. Biotek is a blend of sampling and synthesis, with an X-Y morphing between layers. V2 adds some features. Original release trailer:
  22. I have a few old MNDALA instruments, that work fine in the 1.7.12 version. This new library looks interesting, and may be fine as far as getting a free license for, but I will wait before upgrading MNDALA until it's fully baked.
  23. https://www.vintagesynth.com/articles/cherry-audio-releases-stardust-201-tape-echo "With Stardust 201 Tape Echo Cherry Audio has included features from both the original RE-201 and RE-301 Space Echo Units. However, they have also added some of their own, resulting in a great-sounding and extremely flexible tape echo effect."
