Yes, the Session Percussion Beats MIDIpak is an excellent match with the Session Percussion ADpack kit.
-
Just grabbed a couple more MIDIpaks, direct from XLN for $10.97 each, on sale.

That's the best workaround. Otherwise, Waves seem to lock your licenses to one of your network adapters hardware ID. I found out the hard way once when I removed one of my adapters, then had to recover all of my licenses.

https://www.airmusictech.com/product/loom-ii New for LOOM II: Loom II has been expanded to 8 voices by popular request! Spectral Noise section allowing a secondary oscillator to replace or enrich the additive spectrum (created with the Sine Oscillator) with a noise spectrum. This is truly revolutionary in the additive world. Your creativity is the only limit to what is possible! 4 new modules (See module section) 2 additional Subharmonic Optional Partials bellow the normal spectrum. Enhanced Morph Pad options. 500 all-new patches covering a wide range of sounds designed by acclaimed sound designers Richard Devine and Mark Ovenden. All original 350 patches re-mastered taking advantage of the new features. New Wave Parameter options 20+ other performance enhancements. In Loom II we have added four new powerful modules: 5-Sines – An easy-to-use module enabling you to produce a range of organ or sine style sounds. Discrete Adder – Similar to Loom 1’s popular adder, but adding a discrete spectrum ideal for creating percussion-based synth instruments. Hype – adding Hi and Low Hype with dedicated easy-to-use controls for instant results. Double Wave – for our more advanced users: Use dual waves to create complex synth patterns. We have also added a dedicated control for this in the Morph pad.

I remember seeing that, and as a result have their VST3 "hidden".

I just tried it earlier by splitting the instrument track, and them arming the resulting MIDI track. That does work! And yes, do agree that you first need to make sure the VST is capable of sending MIDI and it is enabled, which in this case is Kontakt Player. And that is a go!
-
@sadicusKontakt Player has an option in "Options > Engine > Send MIDI to outside world" for "script generated notes" (otherwise only incoming notes get recorded). For example if I enable that feature, and load an instrument with internal arpeggiator in Kontakt, the MIDI output contains all of the output notes from the arpeggiator which can be recorded in the MIDI track and viewed in the Cakewalk piano roll. I would also recommend splitting the instrument track into separate MIDI and audio tracks, then arming only the MIDI track for record.

Or at least a download link to older versions... That would make it much easier to determine if any issues that one is having are update related. Anyone?

I think he meant that since he is using Cakewalk as a MIDI sequencer only, with outboard synths to generate his audio, he wanted to disable Cakewalk audio output so that Windows could use it exclusively.

I once burned my finger on one of those when I was swapping CPUs in a mobo. Ouch! Very hot!

You should probably research this list. It will take a budget around $100 to get a reliable audio interface. https://www.musicradar.com/news/best-budget-audio-interfaces On-board Realtek audio devices are not designed for audio recording. Gaming and multimedia playback are their target market.

Audio dropouts making Cakewalk unusable.
abacab replied to kevmsmith81's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
If I was going to judge the hardware being used, I believe that it is fair to say that starting with a mobile processor at 2Ghz core frequency definitely limits the possibilities. Could be that something in Cakewalk "slightly" tilted the performance margin in such a way that someone running a DAW at 3-4 Ghz wouldn't notice. -
Cakewalk Platinum and Bandlab version
abacab replied to molly townsend's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Dimension LE was bundled with Sonar 7 only, then replaced with Dimension Pro for Sonar 8 thru Platinum. FYI, it is a 32-bit VST2. I can only see it being useful if you have old projects that include it. Dim Pro is better! Not sure why it won't install, unless maybe the installer needs Sonar 7 installed first? -
Haha! I've found that you can rarely beat Larry to a deal! He has skillz!!!

Audio dropouts making Cakewalk unusable.
abacab replied to kevmsmith81's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I totally understand the advice about system tuning being given, as that is fundamental to good audio performance, and essential to any DAW. But I am a bit cautious to rush to blame the hardware in this case, because the OP stated in the first post that it was only happening with Cakewalk, and not the other DAW he tested with. Could something actually have changed in Cakewalk recently to affect performance? Just asking for a friend, so please don't flame me ... -

Did you give LatencyMon a try yet? -

Try checking that your Windows power scheme is set to "Performance". That is a mobile processor and the default is probably balanced or something like that. If so that would be trying to conserve power at the expense of performance. -
What type of track is the source audio track? If it is multiple instruments already mixed into a stereo 2-track, that would be impossible to unmix and convert to midi. If you have audio stems for each instrument track isolated, then the rules of monophonic (bassline or melody) and polyphonic (chords) would apply to either the basic version or the upgraded version of Melodyne.

If you have a full install of Sonar Platinum with plugins BEFORE you install Cakewalk by BandLab, your plugins will be detected by the Cakewalk plugin scanner. It sounds like your issue is with getting Sonar Platinum and the related plugins installed. Maybe try contacting Steam, or sending an email to support@cakewalk.com.

Cakewalk may use multiple cores, but a virtual instrument typically only uses one core assigned, as the processing is serial, rather than parallel. To allow others to help you better, you may want to provide a bit more info about your hardware specs and settings. Clicks and pops can be due to a lot of things.
