  1. Even if you do that, your earlier purchases don't get extended. Tick tock, tick tock...
  2. Just another broke bloke...
  3. Here you go. Tested this with the free version of Ample Bass P Lite II: CW: Insert the Ample Bass P Lite as a simple instrument track. (There are other ways to do this, but this is what I did to test) Ample: Open "Settings", and set MIDI out to "On". CW: Insert a new MIDI track and make sure the input is set to the Ample Bass. Ample: Open up the "Tab" module in the Ample bass and select desired tab (note, these are not MIDI clips). Then turn on "HOST" and "SYNC" at the bottom of the Ample UI. CW: Arm the MIDI track to record. Press the "Record" button on the CW transport. Cakewalk will start recording onto the MIDI track as the Ample Bass performs the tab while it is in sync with the host transport. When the tab has finished playback, stop the transport. Your newly recorded MIDI clip of the tab is ready for you to work with. ?
  4. I really didn't intend to take this "FR: Chord Track" thread so off-topic. ? My earlier post with the Notion/S1 score was intended to illustrate how the chord, time signature, and tempo changes appear in their respective Studio One chord, time signature, and tempo tracks. With hopes that something similar can work its way into Cakewalk! OK, now that feature creep was intentional. It's not just a chord track that would be useful, but I do think all of those global tracks could work together nicely for Cakewalk! But I'll leave the score editor for the other FR. ?
  5. That seems to happen mostly with the little guys that email you a link to the download file, that's only good for a set number of tries, or for a very limited time.
  6. Yes, +1 for a MusicXML addition to Cakewalk. That would help a lot of folks workflow for getting notation into Cakewalk! I just upgraded to Studio One Pro 5 last week (on sale), so was curious about the latest state of integration between Notion 6.8 and Studio One Pro 5.1. It's as simple as having both of them open at the same time and either: 1. (Notion) File > Send to Studio One. If you choose to Send Score to S1 it will create instrument tracks and notation in S1, including any VST instruments you were using for the tracks in Notion, as well as any defined rules. Notion instruments will not cross over, but the assigned instrument names will. Notion instruments will only work in Notion. That's shame, and you would think PreSonus would find a way to make them compatible with their Presence sampler or something else in S1. 2. (S1) Song > Send to Notion - you can send note data of the entire song or selected tracks. Say for example that you made some manual changes to the note data in the DAW, and wanted to send it back and merge it with the original score in Notion. Done in a few clicks. This was just a simple example, as there is actually much more that you can do, such as lead sheets, audio mixdowns, etc. And yes, that is the Notion engine that they bolted onto S1.
  7. Like this? Just click on the text labels below the controls, and you will be offered the available parameters that can be reassigned to each control.
  8. I'm supplying actual working use cases that will hopefully make their way into the Cakewalk development pipeline someday... not an intentional flaunt. I've been using Cakewalk since Cakewalk Professional 6 in the late 90's. And this is a feature request thread, one that the devs will hopefully read. I still use Cakewalk CbB (as a former Sonar Platinum for lifer), but when Gibson shut them down I was forced to go looking for a replacement. Got a cheap crossgrade to Studio One 3 Pro, so I'm trying to keep up with that DAW as well. Nobody says you gotta use just one! Bottom line is that I wish all the best for Cakewalk and its users. Especially after using it as my main DAW for over 20 years. Love watching the constant improvements since BandLab took over!
  9. I believe the extra punch is likely due to them sampling real oscillators. Of course, at the added expense of the footprint of a large sample library. So, paired with new modeled filters to shape the sampled sounds, IKM Syntronik has a great analog sound! But they didn't model the actual synth interfaces in detail, so no detailed knob tweaking as on the original instruments. However, you can still choose from 7 filter types, cutoff, resonance and drive, control the ADSR envelopes, and adjust LFO waveforms and rate. Plus it comes with an awesome effects rack!
  10. I'm not aware of any download limits. Just the download expiration after 180 days. $10 will unlock downloads of everything in your account for another 180 days. I had to use that option once, when I forgot to grab something from a huge bundle the first time around. It's not terrible, but it is a business model to be frowned on, as it's clearly anti-customer friendly. Right off-hand I cannot think of another company that does it this way!
  11. I just thought I would add this example of multiple chord, time signature, and tempo changes all within a few bars. Sent a copy of Claire De Lune from Notion's classical score library, and extracted the chords to the chord track. The score view is presented by the new internal score feature in Studio One 5 Pro. You can freely send score and note info between Notion 6.8 and Studio One Pro 5 now. No need to use Rewire unless you want to sync transports.
  12. Yes, Fleer is correct! ? 13. Maybe, but it will likely take years to design and manufacture bug-free hardware based on the new spec. MMA just finalized and adopted the 2.0 standard this year. Most of the gear is just prototype at this stage, like proof-of-concept that MIDI 2.0 messages can be sent and received. With the exception of: https://www.musicradar.com/news/namm-2020-rolands-a-88mkii-midi-keyboard-is-its-first-midi-20-ready-product https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/7/21028136/roland-a-88mkii-keyboard-support-midi-2-0-ces-namm-2020 Well the 88mkii appears to be ready!
  14. I will also add that if you have a license for the full Analog Lab 4, those presets should also have been added to AL V with the latest update. I seem to have all of the factory presets from Analog Lab 4 (7,455) available in AL V now, plus the new AL V presets.
  15. Yes, that's what I mean. Like would you put off buying a new car now (if you needed one) because a better model is coming out next year? MIDI 2.0 devices won't replace MIDI 1.0, it just adds the capability for new features. It may be some time before there is anything useful on the market, so it could be a long wait. And MIDI 1.0 has a proven track record of several decades of use. Is there something particular in the 2.0 spec that you would rather wait for? https://www.musicradar.com/news/what-is-midi-20-and-what-does-it-mean-for-musicians-and-producers
  16. I have a fix for that. Apparently that is all you get now with AL V if you are using the controller setting for "Generic MIDI controller". AL will auto-configure for certain Arturia controllers, but will default to "generic" if not. AL 4 used to show all of the controls regardless, so it looks like they made AL V "smarter", LOL. One step back actually, ha! Just open the AL V settings gear icon in the top right, and select the MIDI tab; click on the pull-down menu for MIDI controller and you will see a list of controllers that you can select from. Keylab 49 or 61 work fine for me, and I see all the controls again, even though I am actually using a generic controller.
  17. I was referring to my archived installer file from 2016. No iLok installer was included in the original PIB file. Had to obtain it separately from the iLok website. I was mentioning this only to provide some insight to the fact it hasn't always been like this. Something has evidently been changed. Like I said previously, I've no idea what Sonivox did to "improve" the current installer, but it doesn't sound good. One of the reasons I archive my installer files on an external USB.
  18. Why would it be? MIDI 2.0 devices will be backwards compatible...
  19. Here is the integration info on Studio One and the P1... https://nektartech.com/studio-one-panorama-p1-p4-p6-daw-integration/
  20. Plus, the color scheme looks rather IKM friendly! ?
  21. Great minds think alike, LOL! That's exactly what I did. Redeemed 5 of them, keeping 1 on standby... ?
  22. Awesome! How do you like it, and what software do you use it with?
  23. I like the idea, but to be useful for my big hands, a touch screen display would need to be huge! And that would probably require too much space for me ... ?
  24. No motorized faders, but this looks interesting! https://nektartech.com/panorama-p1/
