  1. If you look into the UMC202, you are getting into the price territory of the Focusrite Scarlett. https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UMC202HD-BEHRINGER-U-PHORIA-2-Channel/dp/B00QHURUBE The Scarlett Solo is good for one instrument or mic at a time. Stereo out. Full ASIO support from Focusrite. https://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Audio-Interface-Tools/dp/B07QR6Z1JB?th=1 But you will still need a good mic with XLR cable to record an acoustic instrument, if you cannot direct input via line. Disclaimer, I am a happy Scarlett 2i2 user. The 2i2 can record two mics or lines at once, perfect for recording from a stereo source via L/R line in, or L/R stereo with two room mics. Or a mono instrument line and a mic.
  2. I hear you, and wish good luck! The hurdle to get past with IK support is getting to someone who is not convinced that you are doing something wrong. I've gone in circles with every contact there, wasting my time. For example, I open a ticket with details, and they usually respond and close the ticket. I respond to reopen the ticket with more details, and they respond again and close the ticket again... I've worked in IT for over 40 years, so do know a thing or two about problem determination and root cause analysis, and could probably run circles around most in tech support.
  3. I agree! But I took the gamble with the internal electronics. It is what is is! I have one woofer in stock shipping this week, and the other is back ordered. I watched a YouTube video on swapping woofers, and I'm sure that I can handle that. Hopefully, it's not in the amp. If it is, I'm S.O.L. G4's up next!
  4. Peter, thanks for responding. But I am sure that the issue is not "global", but actually only affecting older hardware. I experienced the same issue when SampleTank 4 was first released. I am convinced that generally most new software with state of the art features, not necessarily just from IK, is being developed and tested on the latest hardware. When I upgraded from an Intel Core, gen 3 CPU to an Intel Core gen 9, my problem with performance issues was solved!
  5. Anyone considering paying for The Resonator should take a look at the Indiginus version for Kontakt.
  6. The Rokit 8 or 10's would be quite nice! But the 5's were the only thing that would fit on my existing speaker stands! I was originally replacing a pair of M-Audio monitors that had reached end of life. And the Rokits are great at low volume, as you say... The corner of the room I am using now is not set up acoustically, so the 3 foot space is good. I had to downsize 10 years ago from a dedicated spare bedroom/studio.
  7. Well that one should be good for a couple more years!!!
  8. You could raffle off one controller to a lucky soul. Just use every eligible group buy purchase as a raffle entry! Consider it good PR and customer relations, and just bill it to the marketing budget!!!
  9. I bought into SampleTank 4 MAX as a pre-release deal. I was still running my gen 3 at that time. The jump in CPU load in the initial v4 release compared to SampleTank 3, made it almost unusable for me. Last year I upgraded to my current i5-9600K, 6 cores locked at 4.3GHz, with turbo to 4.6GHz. Got a little more breathing room now, and it handles most things I throw at it now without the cooling fans revving up. I get the impression that the devs at IK are building cool new features using the latest hardware, with little regard for optimizing code, so that previous gen hardware can take advantage of them. ?
  10. Just out of curiosity I tried your Amplitube 5 tests with my i5, 9th gen PC. Here are some numbers that may help establish a benchmark with newer hardware. I do see an increased (doubled) load with the latest version. Amplitube 5 - (tested with VST3) v5.0.3 Audio processing 0.8%; Engine load 5-8% v5.1.1 Audio processing 1.8; Engine load 10-15%
  11. Be careful of straying too far off topic [Indiginus], or the mods may lock this thread for going down a political correctness rabbit hole... ?
  12. After watching the The Resonator walk-through videos, I concluded that the Kontakt versions of these highly expressive instruments appeared to be more usable than SampleTank. I like SampleTank 4 for it's quality of samples, but it appears to be a kludge in the ST4 interface to incorporate a workflow that seems natural in Kontakt. So I bought the Indiginus (Kontakt) versions of both The Fiddle and The Resonator. Very cool! ? I discussed this GUI comparison in the Indiginus vs IK Resonator thread:
  13. The word "indigenous" is an adjective in English, and is not capitalized, therefore it is not a noun describing a specific people. So nobody specific to offend. Even plants can be described as "indigenous"... https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/indigenous
  14. If you are an original Fathom Pro owner, you are eligible to get the AVX2 version of Fathom Pro 3, without having to buy the Fathom Vector version. He grandfathered in the original owners, as a sort of "loyalty" deal. Just email support, and explain that you need to upgrade from 2.3, and want the souped up version (assuming that your CPU supports the AVX2 vector extension). Even if you cant run AVX2, there appears to have been a number of general optimizations for v3 that are well worth trying.
  15. The developer seems intent on following his own path for licensing and authentication, rather than following any industry standards. His way is better (or so he believes). For this last upgrade merry-go-round, I had to: 1. Use the unzip password to decompress the downloaded installer folder. 2. Then I had to run the "install.exe", which asked me what paths to install everything to. Since I always use a "Fathom" folder in "My Documents" for everything except the plugin .dll, it did all the work correctly for me. I assume that the installer adds to, or overwrites Fathom content files as needed in that target "Fathom" folder. 3. Then I had to "activate" the plugin itself with my email address, and my original Fathom Pro order number. Then all was well. Until next time, LOL!
  16. I have an Arturia Keylab MK II plugged into Windows 10 Pro (20H2), and it's working fine here! Plug and play! But your issue may be due to another application on your PC grabbing the class compliant MIDI driver before your DAW does. If that's the case, your DAW (any DAW) will never see the MIDI driver if it's already in use. The MIDI device should connect to your DAW if that is the first MIDI aware application that you run. To check this you can startup Windows in selective startup with all of the autorun programs temporarily disabled. Then just plugin in your keyboard and start your DAW.
  17. Thanks for the input! I swapped them, and the issue stayed with the speaker. Nothing appears loose. Ironically, the 3 year factory warranty on these just expired in February. So now I assume that it's a blown woofer. I found a pair of new KRK Rokit 5 G3 replacement woofers online, and ordered them for $39 each. Much cheaper than replacing one monitor, and if it buys me another 3 years, so be it. The newer G4 drivers are made of kevlar, while these G3's are made from glass-aramid composite. Must be a reason that KRK changed up that product spec in the new version! I stayed with replacement G3 woofers since that is what these speakers were designed for. I like the sound of these Rokits, and they are perfect for me at this price point, even though they are apparently not perfectly flat. I don't do professional audio production, it's just a hobby and the music reproduction on these is very nice.
  18. Yep, the dev finally took the links down on the site. I guess he still needs to clean up the page and point users to this tidbit of useful info. You can check for upgrades from within Fathom now, and it will provide you with a link. This feature has been available in the Fathom GUI for a while now. Just start Fathom, and go to settings. Check for upgrades, and it will compare your current version with the latest available. If there's a new one, click copy link to clipboard, and paste into your browser. Works great!

  21. Oops! The website could be optimized for more clarity. But it's sure purty!
  22. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused! I'm a senior citizen, so I have a tendency to say what's on my mind, even if it occasionally offends someone. I think those "filters" wore off years ago, LOL!
