  1. It's on Best Service now, but oddly not anywhere on the AAS site yet!
  2. Sounds similar to the Soundpaint grand piano with some added cinematic layers...
  3. Don't overlook the Chord Track feature that was added to Studio One Pro 4.0. Chord recognition is a given with MIDI data, because the notes are already known. But for audio material with an unknown chord structure, you can drag the audio track onto the chord track for auto chord recognition. This video is 2 years old, but covers the basic concepts of their chord track. This software has been updated to S1 version 5.4.1 since then.

  5. Whew! Just checked, and still running 1.2.0 here.
  6. I got their Diffuse as a freebie a few years back. Nice Reverb-Delay with a lot of control and presets. Edit: Went ahead today and added Modnetic for $28 to complete my Dub Machines bundle (Diffuse + Modnetic). And their Crack is free now... https://www.surrealmachines.com/transient-machines-vstau/
  7. 3D software has a much steeper learning curve than photo editing software. There is a huge market for 3D assets, such as finished 3D models and materials, so that they can be imported. This can reduce some details of assembling a scene and rendering it rather than designing all assets from scratch. Making your own models is analogous to making your own samples and loops for your DAW use. Very time consuming, but some folks with the patience and knack for it love it! Do give Blender a spin though, it's totally free! All professional 3D software used to cost hundreds of dollars, similar to the old Cakewalk Sonar! Pro studios are now the main users of high end paid programs like 3ds Max for CGI animation and video games. But Blender has made some inroads to professional TV, Film, and video game studios.
  8. It is, as Larry said a 3D program. As the artist, you are working inside a virtual box, or room, similar to a photo studio with x, y, and z coordinates. There are two main phases, modeling and rendering/animating. While modeling the scene in there, you can place objects, control lighting and camera angles, and pan and zoom to get a camera angle from any point. You can render a scene as either a still frame, or as a motion sequence along a timeline. To render a motion sequence requires multiple frames per second to be rendered, at your required movie specs. That motion sequence can then be exported and used as a movie clip within a movie editing application. I tried some 3D programs 15-20 years ago, when I first became a Photoshop user and was fascinated with the new digital darkroom capabilities. But unfortunately, my Pentium 3 and 4 class computers at the time were barely up to the task of showing real-time 3D previews, much less animated renderings. Still renderings was as far as I ever got, and even those took several minutes each. This latest generation of 3D software, combined with a strong multicore CPU and GPU, looks like it should kick *****!
  9. Arturia finally sent me an offer to buy the full V Collection 8 for $249. At the time all I owned was Pigments, Piano V, and Analog Lab 4/5.
  10. Ah, thanks! I picked up an MPK mini a few years ago when I was looking for a portable controller, but had to return it as it wasn't compatible with my extra large hands. I have a full size Arturia controller that I love, and it maps very well to Analog Lab. You mentioned that you like AL, so I'm sure you would love the full V Collection 8. I sure do! The Analog Lab is still very useful with the full V Collection, and serves as a portal to that ginormous instrument and preset collection, so that you can preview them all in one interface. ?
  11. I thought that there was a way to let a virtual instrument continue to play a reverb tail after the final midi note in a clip, without cutting that off abruptly? Or maybe I'm losing it...
  12. Great deal! How are those "slim keys" on the minilab? Any different from the mini keys used on an Akai MPK mini, for example?
  13. Plus Neutron 3 Advanced... and Ozone9 is the Advanced edition. And Trash 2 and VocalSynth2.
  14. I grabbed a couple that I had not saved yet that way, without paying for a download reactivation.
  15. Any reactions in the past aside, as a Linux and open source fan of many years, and also a long time Cakewalk user, I will point out that the core of open source lies mainly in cross platform development. Cakewalk, as a Windows only application, is most definitely not a good candidate for cross platform porting. At least not without a nearly total re-write. Cakewalk is built upon and highly leverages the Microsoft programming libraries and Windows audio engine. So even if it was re-licensed as open source, the Windows only subset of open source might not develop into a well funded, well supported community. Cross platform is a major key to open source community involvement and support.

    UJAM Iron 2

Don't overlook Orange Tree Samples guitars. I picked up two of them during their annual group buy this summer for 60% off!!! Kontakt Player and NKS ready! Plays notes, chords, and strums. https://www.orangetreesamples.com/products/evolution-rock-standard

    UJAM Iron 2

https://www.ujam.com/company/ "The story behind our company originates from the hugely successful Steinberg Virtual Guitarist released at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt in 2002. The team behind that landmark release reunited and created UJAM with a vision to develop great sounding and easy to use audio plug-ins."

    UJAM Iron 2

The UJAM guitars are "virtual guitarists", not just guitar sample libraries. VG-IRON 2 is specialized to play heavy power chords ("Hard & heavy chords and riffs"). The midi phrases provide the riffs. They are accessed via key switches. This is not a solo guitar or strumming guitar. The demo is free to try so buyers should not be surprised. the VG v2 has added "Instrument" mode, and midi phrase drag and drop to your DAW track. The following VG titles, except for VG-CARBON, are still version 1 and lack the midi drag and drop, as well as lack the instrument mode. VG-Carbon is an 8 string electric with extreme processing. The instrument mode has single note playing ability with articulations. The player mode has interesting riffs and phrases. VG-SPARKLE is a Fender style electric for chords, octaves and riffs. VG-AMBER is a steel string acoustic strummer. VG-SILK is a nylon guitar with finger picked arpeggios, patterns, and chord riffs. Hope that helps put them in context.

    UJAM Iron 2

Don't know about Riffendium, but if you are making a comparison with UJAM, the virtual guitarist uses samples as well. The phrases are midi patterns that control the style, but can also be dragged onto the DAW timeline in v2. But in "Player" "Instrument" mode, you can play the guitar samples, which in the case of IRON 2 are power chords, with key switches for articulations. Edit: to correct from Player mode to Instrument mode.
  21. I already got R4 and Nimbus, and the Groove 3 Pass with MPS 4.0. But it might be worth it, if 4.1 comes with another year of Groove 3 tacked on to my original freebie. Not sure that I need RX 9 (or even RX 8). And already have more Melodyne Essential serials than I can count on one hand. Kind of like those IK GB freebies that couldn't be used up, LOL! Got them from Cakewalk Sonar Platinum, Studio One Pro, Tracktion Waveform Pro, iZotope, and maybe a few more that I can't remember...
