  1. Every version of Windows, ranked from worst to best: https://www.pcgamer.com/best-windows-versions/
  2. Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows. Until it wasn't... ?
  3. FYI, this thread is 3 years old, and has been dead for almost 2 years. At least until a few hours ago... ?
  4. I got the email today, but Larry beat me to it, as usual! ? And yes as stated, this is Kontakt Player friendly, so full Kontakt is NOT required!!! This $95 deal is a great discount for 48 hours only! Got this on sale last year, and it is amazing! Try using a MIDI generator such as Wotja to drive it for some interesting evolving textures & patterns! Bioscape even includes a preset folder with ASMR sounds. [EDIT]: One thing not so obvious about this player UI at first look, is that there are actually 4 sample slots, [A:B], and [C:D], so that you can toggle the view of 2 of them back and forth with that button in between [A:B]. Plus you can load your own samples by drag and drop into each slot, so this also makes a handy sample player where you can add modulations and FX processing to your samples! Here is a video overview of some of the new v1.4 sounds:
  5. Video from Venus Theory... including coverage of Decent Sampler and Pianobook:
  6. See what Skippy can do with just a sine wave and Fragments! From yesterday's Unify live stream.
  7. There is a thread that discusses this in the effects forum at KVR. A user posted a video comparison by Databroth of Silo, Fragments, and Portal: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=578680&start=45 For those that wish to avoid KVR, here's a direct link. ?
  8. Thanks for the feedback! I want Fragments, but $49 for a single plugin is not budget friendly enough for me at the moment, and thankfully I can ignore the $119 crossgrade for stuff that I might (not) use.
  9. Actually, this type of effect is right up my alley! $49 seems a bit steep for one effect though these days... However, I only use synths and keys, and do not play guitar. I love anything that morphs a sound musically to create something new. Similar to the way that many guitarists love their stomp boxes!
  10. That's correct, just the Arturia Freebies. But I do have about 100 other reverbs, delays, compressors, etc. Around 1,000 plugins total. Not sure I need to collect another reverb or delay at this point, unless there is something just really spectacular that one of these does that nobody else's can do. But I am a big fan of Aturia! Have their V-Collection, Pigments 3.5 with over 2,100 presets, and a KeyLab 61 MKii.
  11. My loyalty price is $49. It would be an instant buy at $29, so think I'll wait for now... Hmmm... FX Collection 2 + Fragments (free) is only $119 for me. May be a better deal, but I already have Rev PLATE-140, Chorus JUN-6, Filter MINI, and Tape MELLOW-FI. Are there any "must have" plugins in the Arturia FX collection? I believe that I already have the others covered by 3rd party plugins. Got quite a few from Eventide, Exponential, Kilohearts, iZotope, Waves, plus just about all of IK Multimedia, and some others too numerous to list... But I do like Fragments! Haven't seen anything quite like that yet!
  12. Well, Syntronik uses samples of a REAL CS-80... ? But Arturia has a lot more presets and sound shaping controls...
  13. I should start a new thread: "The time I made Madrona laugh".
  14. They need to ship their instruments on hard drives. ?

  16. That's a great idea, but from what IK has said it's that the instrument programming changed for Syn 2 and required a new synth engine. So they included both v1 and v2 synth engines in the Syn 2 software to enable playing both instrument versions. That's similar to the differences between SampleTank 3 and SampleTank 4 instruments. Syntronik 1 is based on the ST3 engine, while Syntronik 2 is based on the ST4 engine. You can open ST3 instruments in ST4, but the editor in there only allows "ST3 Legacy" mode.
  17. There's your easy answer! I have no idea how to tame the on-board audio on a Dell, but it sounds like you quite possibly have an audio driver causing the audio dropouts.
