  1. The one commitment made by Meng as he acquired the rights to the Cakewalk software was that the Cakewalk DAW would be free for as long as it exists. That would preclude it from ever reverting to a payware model.
  2. Actually, BandLab Technologies formed Caldecott as a new company brand. Similar to the way Facebook formed Meta, or Google formed Alphabet. It was not "acquired". "With a history of growing a broad range of music-focused businesses, BandLab Technologies announces an organisational transformation with the introduction of new company brand, Caldecott Music Group (CMG). CMG will oversee the long-term planning, investment, and development of three newly-formed divisions: BandLab Technologies, Vista Musical Instruments, and NME Networks." The topic title "BandLab Technologies Reorganized" is correct. Just clarifying the details with the company released statement. Plus there is also this related statement: "Digital division BandLab Technologies will double down on designing and developing innovative tools and services for the next generation of music creators, with a vision for a future where there are no boundaries to making and sharing music. The group unites digital audio workstation Cakewalk, and flagship social music creation platform BandLab, which hosts a user base of 40 million creators globally and the recently announced acquisition of artist services platform ReverbNation."
  3. Waves has not issued any new updates for this since yesterday. Seems to be a hit or miss issue, everyone is apparently not affected. Probably why it passed QA checks at Waves. Windows 10.
  4. Thanks! Just wondered if having paths beyond only the boot drive might be an issue here. But apparently not...
  5. I don't recall specifically for the CR8 installer, but in Cosmos you can reconnect folders that you have moved from their original scanned location. Until the cosmos.sqlite db decides to take a dump.
  6. Were your sample folder paths only on your "C:" drive, or elsewhere?
  7. All of my local folder references are now missing from Cosmos, except for the one provided by Waves. They were all there before the update. My original sample folders are still there on my "D:" drive. I can add them and re-scan into Cosmos, but that shouldn't be necessary. Very time consuming! ADSR Sample Manager still has all of them listed here, so I'm thinking it is just a Waves issue...
  8. So sorry! But thanks for confirming... Waves is likely to get a lot of hate mail for this one.
  9. Just a heads up here, and it may only be me, but this library update clobbered all of my listed sample folders in the Cosmos browser, except for the built-in one. Going to try to restore the "cosmos.sqlite" db that I backed up yesterday from the " \AppData\Local\Waves Audio\Waves Plugin Server" path. Edit: No luck with restore, even after restoring the full "Waves Plugin Server" folder. Way to go Waves! ?
  10. I've got a spare 64GB. Spare $500? Nope.
  11. Most of mine are older v12. No WUP, no joy... ?
  12. I was up to 5, but cut back a bit. Now it's 4. ?
  13. Thanks! It appears that AIR has abandoned development of their legacy plugins, other than some installer compatibility tweaks. I acquired their full collection about 5 years ago. Not much has changed since. The last upgrade for a legacy AIR plugin I can recall was for Loom II in 2017, an upgrade that I later grabbed on sale at a deep discount. The new releases are probably based on the new synth engine used in Drum Synth 500 ("Drum Synth 500 is built on powerful all-new engine for live performance or studio use"). I also grabbed that on sale at a deep discount. Not bad!
  14. Aha, thanks! That explains why I missed it. I refuse to follow devs on Facebook. They should make an effort to update their support forum threads, or else have their resellers email customers about upcoming updates... But some companies are now so all over the place with social media, it makes the head spin as where to look for the latest info. It shouldn't be that hard. Facebook, Twitter, Discord, etc. Ugh...
  15. Where did you hear "at the moment"? I recall that Simon Bangs, the AIR marketing guy, tried to recruit some beta testers over at KVR a few years ago. However, nothing but crickets ever since...
  16. I'm a bit confused by this statement. The latest product versions are the same old versions that one already has installed, correct? All I can see is that this is an upgraded content collection, but without any actual instrument upgrades involved. AFAIK all 2021 PC updates from AIR were for the Windows 10 installer bug fix.
  17. Wonder when they plan to add VST3?
  18. What if you already have AIEP Complete, Loom II, VIP 3, and Drum Synth 500? Looks like I get to add Boom and a few more Hybrid expansions to an end-of-life collection of instruments for $239. ?
  19. MIDI channel assignments! Each instrument slot in a multi-timbral plugin such as Kontakt and SampleTank can be assigned to a channel 1-16. They must match up with the MIDI track/clip for the intended instrument.
  20. Agreed. It runs the majority of the world's cloud servers, and likely all of the world's supercomputers.
  21. It's 29% off unless you own Striiiiings.
  22. Right-click over your banks in the SM One preset browser and select "Restore my expansions". You will get any missing or new banks downloaded and installed. Bluffmunkey Cinematic is a nice set! I was working on a stack in Unify earlier with a lead from Syntronik 2 V-80, and several BPM pads and drums from PluginGuru's new "UniLoFi" bank. So just dropped in one of the new Bluffmunkey Cinematic sequences, #49 "Search Pattern". Exactly what it needed!
