NI Meet Session Guitarist – Acoustic Sunburst Deluxe
dumbquestions replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Seconded, i’ve had to bounce, chop, crossfade, & time-stretch clips of a NI session guitar sequence sometimes, just to make it fit/stop “naturally” when i need it to. Not all the time, but enough to make me just want to replicate it in an orange tree lib to keep moving. That’s my only gripe with those, but they sound great otherwise imo. -
Perfect. Now I just need a few more of these, plus proton 4 elements, & I’ll finally be able to make my own potassium

The plugin scam exposed. Did you fall for it?
dumbquestions replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
From a sound design pov: what about the “analog” saturation produced by overdriving an emulated digital version of a real life EQ. Is that all the same too? Or is he just saying that boosts & cuts in db at any frequency point can be achieved through any eq plugin (which… that part is true). But what if I am level matching & using eq as more of a drive style effect? Idk if I can replicate driving neve circuitry with logic’s stock eq for example, but what do i know -
Same price for me ($224) whether logged in or not. Perhaps a loyalty discount you have there based on previous purchases, maybe
-
How are you getting that price? Shows $224 for me

I agree with the wisdom shared here. And FWIW i’ve been looking at one of the channel strip mixers by rocksolid audio. One that is meant to replicate the SSL look at $325 USD. For what i need at least looks like it can adjust parameters of any third party plugin via the RSA host plugin (which acts as the host to load another plugin into), and with the track selected it lets you adjust custom parameters without opening the host. Idk if any of you all have it or experienced using it but was also curious lately about physical console mixer controllers for plugins & that one might looks like the best deal to me so far (I think it can control anything but I’d primarily just be using it for a 4000 or 9000 PA strip, YMMV though)

Good prices for these rn. Still holding out for nolly x though -
Anyone already buy/reading these, via this website?

Wow got em. Thanks for this ?

Too lazy to demo or watch the vids but I’m curious if any people here are actively using (or have previously used) this dev’s plugins in their workflow? The strip sounds a little snake oily to me. Not that I need it, but I mean, I never imagined chat gpt would be a thing either, and now here we are. I’ve noticed a barrage of advertisements on that plugin specifically on social media (so it seems phil has targeted me for whatever reason). Any honest opinions out there on functionality? Cheat code time saver? Load of %#*@? Can tell the guy has a decent marketing budget

Arturia announces _AstroLab - Avant-garde Stage Keyboard 1599€
dumbquestions replied to Solidos's topic in Deals
I’m personally too reliant on 3rd party plugins at this point, that without some kind of onboard dsp processor that can store/load other 3rd party effect plugins (at the least bit including their native FX3 or 4 suite), or without adding the functionality of fully weighted keys even… this doesn’t add much more to the arsenal for me than the lower tier keylab essential. Don’t mind keeping my laptop on stage even having this as an option. That said, it’s indeed pretty cool looking physically with the wood & rhodes style legs, and I honestly would have loved something like this starting out when i didn’t know what sounds i wanted, but when i already use V collection 8 for example, I’m rarely just using a stock sound or preset and calling it a day. Maybe good for some people but as described the thermostat sized screen doesn’t seem appropriate for the nitty gritty sound design scenarios I’d be diving into on the fly. That said I’m maybe too biased 1: based on that price point and 2: the fact that I wouldn’t be adding any sounds or effects to the arsenal with this as someone who already uses arturia software. posh i know. Maybe they’ll at least do something like an MKII version eventually with a bigger screen & using more surface area for more controls. I mean I could find a used Nord stage 3 at this price point so I’d personally go that route myself and gain some new soundbanks, given the above -
I’m usually not one who jumps to update software when it’s already doing what I need, but I’ve been asking for a download-all button since they came out with musio. Glad to see this one and plan on updating

Have it & like it. Really depends on your genre taste/what you make, but it can turn any sound into inspiration for a track. Personally got it bc I was interested in the mobile app compatibility, and how easy it is to access recordings. Mostly enjoy low effort needed to do the recording from a phone that’s already in my pocket all day

Absolutely! Really into the song you posted; like gibberish with little snippets of english between phrases. Attention grabbing and all of the fx on the vocal make all the jabber blend in seamlessly. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for all the inspiration, everyone. Please keep the conversation going! In diving further into the topic , I might even try going the route of making up my own language like Sigur Ros guy? We’ll see. It sounds silly but Jónsi from SR talked about his writing process in various interviews. He mentioned that he often begins by creating melodies and vocal lines without any specific words or meaning. He focuses on the emotional qualities of the music and tries to convey those feelings through singing. Described his approach as more intuitive and instinctive rather than following a specific method or structure. He has also mentioned that the use of his made up Hopelandic/Volenska language allows him to experiment with different sounds and textures without being bound by the constraints of a specific existing language. He stated once that he wants listeners to have their own interpretations of the music and lyrics, and by using a made-up language, he allows the songs to be open to individual meanings and emotions. I mean hey, whatever it takes to overcome writer’s block. At least in my case as someone who primarily does instrumental tracks, i’m used to writing melodies first, so shoehorning a made up language into my compositions to enhance the emotional impact might be the path of least resistance for me here. As much as I want to establish a single standard process/order of operations that applies to every project, it does seem way more nuanced than that I think. Hence why i started the topic, can’t consider all of the different perspectives out there without asking first
-
Which order keeps you going more in your writing process? Feel like when I write the melodies first, the lyrical content sometimes takes a hit. On the other hand, starting with lyrics first might limit create freedom through the rest of the process? what do you do?

positive review: Been a user since the intro. While multi-mic positions has been something they’ve been putting off now for a long time (really wish it would come sooner), they did promise keyswitching, then introduced it which i appreciate, and the entire system is super low latency and low storage space compared to kontakt. On an 8gb ram machine i’ve been able to run multiple 16 output/instrument instances of the plugin without overload. Lots more on the agenda/stuff to be excited about per their youtube podcasts. I don’t have spitfire libraries to compare it to, but to my ears quality is good enough, the potential is big, they are kind of just doing their own thing. Honestly, when each instrument is routed to its own track, there’s enough tweaking I can do with that type of workflow to get the exact sound i want. I have used at least one musio instrument in every project since getting it. The customer service is also one of the better ones for a music software company

Is the studio box redundant if you have no issues running arc through an app that can run plugins on systemwide audio, like soundsource on mac? lets say if latency wasn’t an issue either, outside of having an extra correction profile, & externally processing correction to the full system’s audio, are there other benefits (to getting the box) i may be missing?
