  1. @Esteban Villanova - Thanks for the report. The issue seems to be related to trying to copy a section with events in a project with no clips. We can reproduce the issue and are looking into a fix.
  2. Have you ruled out USB sleep settings? 20 mins sounds like the sort of time sleep might kick in... Check your power settings within Windows and ensure USB sleep is disabled.

Normally this is indicative of an ASIO buffer size that is too high, but it could also be down to a MIDI feedback loop within your virtual instruments. Make sure that the MIDI output of any VSTi's is disabled if you're not using it:
  4. Not sure about Win 7 home x64, but FWIW CbB 2022.02 is running fine on my Win 7 Pro x64 boot. I can't imagine it would be any different for Win 7 home. The only thing that might be an issue is the available RAM. Microsoft limited the amount of available RAM in the Home editions. Home Premium is limited to 16GB, which is fine, but the Home Basic edition was limited to 8GB which might be a bit too low for some projects.
  5. It's likely instrument dependent. Fast export will attempt to export at as fast a speed as possible, but not all plugins support this.
  6. Click on the Patch Browser button at the bottom right of the Inspector:
  7. Also try setting the "Bounce Buffer Size(MS)" to "Playback Size". Some plugins can get upset when this is set to high values.
  8. MIDI clips can be locked to absolute time as well as audio clips. To do this: 1. Select all the clips you want to stay at a specific time 2. Set their time base to "Absolute" : So in the above example, the MIDI clip starts at exactly 2 seconds in. When set to absolute Time Base, regardless of tempo changes, it will always start at 2 seconds in. You can also lock the Position and/or Event Data of the clip so that you can't accidentally alter it during edit operations:
  9. I have machines I leave on 24/7, but leave my audio interfaces off when not in use. As a general rule, I pretty much always switch my DAW PC off. You can still leave your machine on 24/7, as long as you remember to switch your 18i20 on just before you open CbB - I mean, you don't need CbB running all the time.
  10. For Neve clone's I'd recommend Warm Audio if you're in the US, and maybe Golden Age if you're in Europe/UK. Other things to look at are a 2nd hand JoeMeek MQ3 or ThreeQ ( the TFPro P3 is basically an MQ3 in a red box). VC3Q is a slightly older model, but basically the same. You get a preamp, optical compressor & EQ in a half rack unit. The VC6Q is the stereo 1U version. Don't discount older mixing desks that have individual outs too... I absolutely love my Allen & Heath MixWizard / GL2400 and my Alice 828. You can pick up Allen & Heath's at around a 10th of the cost they were, as so many live hire companies are selling them due to them going bust cos of Covid.
  11. Can you PM me a copy of a project you can't open? We'll look into it.
  12. @linkbekka - if you want to export a selection of buses as a mix of only those buses, the easiest way to do it is to do an "Entire Mix" export, but solo only the buses you want to export, e.g.:
  13. Could you post a screen shot of the message?
  14. FWIW I built another DAW PC last week from scratch, and found the following... After installing Dimension Pro from CCC, I found I had to open it in SONAR running it in admin mode before Dimension Pro picked up its licence properly (same for CA2A). After doing this once, it worked fine in CbB. Uninstall Rapture Pro, then install Dimension Pro, then re-install Rapture Pro. The reason for this is that the Rapture Pro installer does a one-time import of all your Dimension Pro sounds into Rapture.
  15. @John Bradley - there's gotta be something else at play here. Below is me freezing SD3 with both tempo changes and without tempo changes - both on a single SD3 instance, and with 4 instances ( Bass Drum, Snare, HiHats, Cymbals). The freeze time for tempo changes / no tempo changes is identical:
  16. This sounds like a plugin that needs re-authorizing since moving to your new disk. Some plugins periodically go silent for a few seconds when they're not authorized... and they may use the disk's serial number as part of their authorization. First click the FX button on the transport module to disable all effects. If all your audio is sounding, then that's your problem. Then turn FX back on, and manually disable all of your effects, and introduce them one by one until you find the culprit.
  17. The nicest interface I've seen for "singing" vsti's is Plogue Alter-Ego (the same guys that do Sforzando), and like Sforzando, it's free. You type the lyrics in, then it sings a syllable for each separate note you play. If you play legato, it sings the current syllable over the whole legato phrase. Occasionally you have to tweak the spelling to get the right word you want, but for the most part it works really well. The voices themselves sound nothing like a real person, but it's fine for mocking songs up, checking if melodies work, or passing on as a demo to a real singer etc.
  18. The export code behind the scenes is basically the same between SONAR and CbB. The only changes that have been made in CbB are fixes to the way buses / aux tracks are handled when dealing with a selection.
  19. This a somewhat cryptic message from Windows that Cakewalk is simply passing on - it means the MIDI device is in use by another program.
  20. Ok, tested the following on my X5D - this should also work on the X5, X5DR and 05/RW: Combi Mode: F0 42 30 36 4E 00 00 F7 Program Mode: F0 42 30 36 4E 00 02 F7 Multi Mode: F0 42 30 36 4E 00 04 F7 As far as I can tell, changing the fourth byte (36) to 35 should work on the X2, X3 and X3R, e.g: Combi Mode: F0 42 30 35 4E 00 00 F7 Program Mode: F0 42 30 35 4E 00 02 F7 ( no Multi mode on the X2/X3/X3R ... not that you really need it... IMO combi mode is far easier to work with on all X series devices )
  21. Without seeing what is going on, there's not much I can do to help. I use https://www.screentogif.com/ to capture short screen captures - it's free, and pretty easy to use. For re-ordering folders (especially if they're collapsed), there should be absolutely no difference to how it's been for years. In the latest EA version, the left/right behaviour is disabled for collapsed folders. If all you're doing is moving folders around, then it should be obvious where the folder is going: if you're seeing an indicator "box" around a folder, it's going to end up in that folder; if you're seeing a line between two folders, it'll get moved between them. One thing that can confuse things is the default naming of folders - if you've not given a folder a name, it names it based on it's ordering, so moving those folders around may look like they've not moved, but in actual fact it's just their name has changed to match their new position. I've coloured the folders in this example, so you can see what I mean: There's currently no limit to the depth of sub-folders, but sooner or later it'll get to the point where you'll have to expand your track pane to the point where you can't see anything useful in the clips pane, and ceases to be of any benefit.
  22. Setting the driver mode to either WASAPI Exclusive or WDM should allow you to select all devices. A couple of possible downsides: 1. Not all devices support WASAPI Exclusive 2. Depending on what devices you have, you may need to reduce the project bit depth to 16 bit - not all devices support 24 bit. 3. You may have to manually set each device to the same bit depth/sample rate within Windows itself, and make sure it matches Cakewalk's settings. WDM should work as a fall-back to WASAPI, but you'll probably not get good a low latency on that mode. In reality, I've found WDM to be fine for recording with FX off, but I usually have to switch back to WASAPI or ASIO afterwards to work with any reasonable latency. I'd normally recommend against USB mics in general, especially in Windows as: 1. You're stuck with the pre-amp & audio interface built into the mic, so you can't use a better pre-amp even if you wanted to, and if the USB drivers go out of date, you can't use it any more. An XLR mic will work with any pre-amp / audio interface you want, and you never need to worry about drivers (well, not for the mic at least). 2. ASIO on Windows generally only supports one device at a time, so you're stuck with using WASAPI or WDM as most USB mics don't have an audio output to stick your headphones into.
  23. @King Burton - can you post a video of what you're seeing?
  24. It's been in the backlog for a while now, however although it would seem sensible at first, personally I don't really see how useful it would be in practice. So say I'm using a particular EQ or compressor plugin, and I want to replace it with another. If I did just use a replace FX command, I've now lost all my original settings and I'm stuck with the default settings in the replacement effect. I'd at least want the settings of the replacement effect to be in the ballpark of the one I was replacing. Currently, whenever I want to replace an effect, what I do is: 1. Insert the new effect, then pin the UI 2. Open the old effect I want to replace - so I now see both of them on screen. 3. Compare the two and adjust the new effect's settings to more or less match the old one 4. Disable the old effect and listen to the new one, and tweak as necessary. If I don't like the new one, I just delete it and re-enable the old one (or choose a new effect and do the same compare/adjust again). Once I'm happy, I delete the old effect. I'm not saying we'll never do it ( that's not my call in any case)... just my my opinion on it....
  25. To manually add a tool to the "Utilities Menu" 1. Open RegEdit 2. Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\ 3. Right click on "Tools Menu" and select New->Key 4. Name the key with the name of your program (e.g. Sound Forge 12 ) 5. Click on the new key you've created, and add the following string values:
