  1. Right click on your Master Bus and set it as the default bus:

    crash or mistake?

If you've got scroll lock on, it'll stop the now time from moving and the clips pane from scrolling.
  3. CAL scripts are typically created in Notepad - the best way to learn is probably to take one of the existing CAL scripts and modify it. A more comprehensive guide is available here: http://members.ziggo.nl/t.valkenburgh/Cakewalk Application Language Programming Guide.pdf The supplied CAL scripts can be found here: C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\CAL Scripts You probably want to look at DOUBLE.CAL ( which has examples of creating new notes) and LEGATO.CAL (which covers editing notes).
  4. I've seen this happen when a virus checker or cloud sync program is trying to access Cakewalk files during the save. Make sure your Cakewalk program & project directories are excluded from any virus checker/cloud sync to rule this out.
  5. What mic / audio interface are you using? We did receive some reports a while back that some USB mic's were recording at twice the speed, but we couldn't reproduce the issue. Have you tried changing the interleave of the track from mono to stereo?
  6. For this case, it might be better to enter the NRPN values directly in the Event List or perhaps use the controller view in the PRV.
  7. I was going to reply with something similar - i.e. using Split Clips with the new "Split Notes" option, however multiple splits are limited to 1 measure as the smallest value for multiple splits. The only other alternative would be to write a CAL script.
  8. If you're using a workspace (and the workspace includes module settings), then you need to save the workspace as well after making module changes.
  9. Perhaps I wasn't clear - don't put your computer to sleep with Cakewalk open. The background buzz is most likely the hardware being in one state, and the operating system thinking its in another. The bug fix for the instrument assign has literally only gone live in the past few minutes.
  10. I haven't actually - I'll give it a try this weekend. Thanks !
  11. We fixed a bug a few days ago that would explain at least part of what you're describing, that is when hardware MIDI ports are removed or added, and you have multiple instances of the same synth, the VSTi synth assignment gets messed up. But although this should fix the synth reassignment issue, I'm not sure all hardware MIDI devices will recover from sleep - it largely depends on their drivers. This is because the internal hardware state of the MIDI devices might not match what Windows thinks their state is when woken up.
  12. Try one of these out before you buy one of these. I've got one, and although the key action feels great and is packed with features, the key velocity is VERY hit and miss. Maybe I just got a bad one... but best to check.
  13. Are you using the onboard sound-card? It may be set to be recording a "mix" of the mic input and stereo output rather than just the mic input. If you think this might be the issue, check your sound-card mixer settings.
  14. Setting it to 2 might well help - it certainly did for me after the last big Windows update. Just don't set it to 3 - that mode is still experimental and is causing problems for many users.
  15. I used one of these for years: It had a crazy amount of sysex profiles on the back for controlling the parameters of various MIDI hardware synths... just dial in the profile on the 2 digit display and you've got control of 16 of the parameters. But most of the time I used it for channel/bus fader control. Unfortunately one of the sliders gave up on me (failed carbon track), so it rarely gets used nowadays.
  16. To be honest, I keep things as MIDI as long as I can. I'll only bounce to audio if I'm running low on CPU, or it's time to mix.... and the main reason I bounce at mix time is to stop me making further tweaks!
  17. I guess "Easy" is subjective... and it depends on what you're trying to do. Te nanoKey just sends standard CC / Note messages, so everything else is done by via ACT and/or ACT/Learn.
  18. I considered getting the Korg nanokey Studio: https://www.musicstore.com/en_US/USD/Korg-nanoKEY-Studio/art-SYN0005232-000?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIv_nv6_376AIVxu7tCh1fjQAxEAYYASABEgKxKfD_BwE&ProgramUUID=HADAqJarPzAAAAFlea9yjI.G&campaign=GShopping%2FUK No sliders, but 8 x rotaries and 8 x pads. The keyboard is useful for for key switches in Kontakt instruments.
  19. As the Integra7 is an external device, you need to: 1. Connect the audio out of the Integra7 to an audio in on your audio interface, 2. Create an audio track and arm it, setting up the relevant input device 3. Record your project Depending on how many tracks you have routed to the Integra7, you may want to do this a track at a time - i.e. solo each track one by one and record to a separate audio track. The upside of using this approach is that once recorded, you no longer need your Integra7 plugged in as you have the audio. The downside is you need to repeat this every time you edit one of your MIDI tracks. An alternative approach would be to leave the processing of your Integra7 outside of your DAW by using an external mixer. This is more convenient during writing/tracking, but forces you to mix out of the box. My advice would be to only record your Integra7 as audio when you're 100% sure you've no more changes to do. There is however a third approach.... if you have multiple audio inputs on audio interface, you could: 1. Connect the separate outputs from your Integra7 to the audio inputs on your audio interface. 2. Create 8 audio tracks, for each of the outputs of your Integra 7 (setting them to the relevant audio input device) 3. Make sure they have echo enabled on each track. You can then continue to use the audio from the Integra7, but add effects/automation to the audio tracks in Cakewalk.
  20. We've just fixed an issue for VSTi's getting re-assigned when hardware MIDI devices are changed during a session and you had multiple instances of the same VSTi within a project. Theoretically this issue could also occur if you deleted a VSTi synth that you added before you added other synths, and you still had multiple instances of another VSTi in your project. I'm pretty sure this will cure the issues described in this thread.
  21. Are you using a workspace? Try setting it to none.
  22. This.... ^^ However, consider copying them as linked clips. This way, any changes you make to your MIDI data in one track will automatically be reflected in the copy.
  23. A lot of portamento implementations only work if you're playing "legato" - have you tried extending the first note so it slightly overlaps the second?
