Thanks Lynn and appreciate your ears on the rough mixes. I did send this out to a mastering engineer, couldn't quite get it there on my own. We had good inspiration for the track from the great Glen Campbell so that was half the battle, that and a good chord chart:) Thanks for the listen. Regards

Makke, Nice track, guitar tone is fantastic.

Wookiee, Interesting track, see what you mean about the manic part, the tempo changes gives the feeling my equilibrium is off, kind of like when a plane makes a fast ascent into a steep bank/ turn. Super creative ideas in here including the tempo changes. I rather liked the vocals, sounds a bit like Richard Harris. Nice transition back to original idea after the vocals section, that isn't easy to do seamlessly. Regards

They are really good, listened to a few of their songs over the weekend. Would be impressive enough to do the vocals and vocals harmonies that well but they also excel at playing their instruments.

Cover of Jimmy Webb's 1967 MacArthur Park featuring forum member GuitarTrek (Geno) on Lead Vocals and Lead Guitar. Rhythm guitar, bass and programming by markno. Steel Guitar is a BIAB sample. This version is based on Glen Campbell rendition from an appearance on Prime Time Country. The track was originally recorded in 2017, however, never was happy with the mix and it sat for many years before I picked it up again and replaced the string samples with EW Hollywood strings and updated the mix. Geno's vocals and guitar solo are quite outstanding. Comments welcome. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14601321 Regards

Jeff, Both beautiful pieces, glad you dug them out of the archives. Well played, I really like your timing and phrasing. Regards

Great song and video. Will have to have a listen to the other tracks as well. Unbelievable these affordable Amp pedals can produce such a professional sound, really amazing times.

Surprised because demos I have heard haven't sounded this good:) In fairness many of the demos I have seen are comparing the Strymon to the new UAD Amp pedals so maybe not have been presented in the best light. Many demos of players pushing the Axe and Kemper stuff but haven't seen many with the Iridium I thought were in the ballpark (until now) Seriously great sounding song and greatly appreciate your detailed response regarding your setup.. I will have to read your descriptions more carefully, last I recalled you were using your Mesa amp with a Palmer. Now will have to call the Sweetwater hotline to place an order. Have been looking into hardware solution recently as I find the latency of software a pain to deal with, also sometimes you just want to plugin and play and not have to fire up computer, et. al.,, Thx again. Regards

Lynn, Nice job on the remix, the drums pop through better in this version and everything sounds well balanced. Really a fan of this song, terrific work. Regards

Nice one Bat, you definitely captured the excitement of F1 racing. Surprised to hear this was recorded with a Strymon, sounds like the real deal. Are you using a Wah in front of the Strymon? Do you find it reacts like a real amp when adding other external hardware effects in front of or behind it? Seriously impressive sounds. Regards

Jeff, Awesome playing. Enjoyed both of the songs, especially Pop's Dilemma. Mix-wise the left hand is a little overpowering at times so I might roll-off a little low-end there to keep the parts in balance but super fun songs. Good work. Regards

David, The acoustic guitar seems the odd man out in this mix, space-wise. Vocals are all good, LV and BGV fit together nicely. I would try a different reverb or room on the guitars, like a chamber with a shorter decay or something like UA Ocean Way. In other words, I would have the guitars (other than the solo) somewhat dryer than the vocals so they mesh better. Otherwise I think you have a good mix going here.

Thanks Lynn for letting me provide some orchestral samples to your song, really a big fan of this song and enjoyed working on it. For those that were interested in the orchestration, the samples are EW Opus, there is a Cello, Bass, Strings and French Horns with some various EW Spaces II sends, I also gave Lynn a Piano part that he may use in a future unplugged version:) The arrangement was done completely by Lynn and the only contribution I really made was replacing his orchestral parts with the Opus Library and a small French Horn piece. Most of the prolific lead parts that carry the song are played by Lynn on his guitar via MIDI. As Lynn mentioned, I heard this song on his SoundClick as it followed his recent song, Chaos Ravine, and I asked him if I could contribute some parts. Very appreciative to have had the opportunity to collab on this song, I think it is one of the best songs I have heard in recent times. Regards

Nice work, one of my favorite ELO songs.

If you want to keep in the beach style while also building into something new, you could consider a Reggae part in the lifted section, same instrumentation, same vibe, but more energy and a sing-along feel. Drums can work, I would keep them brush kit/sidestick during the mellower part, either brush or full kit during the lifted section. I would keep Brush Kit during the lifted section if you are also adding percussion. You have a lot of options, even the organ would work with a underlying Reggae beat and bass during that section. Regards

Nice, work, good song, really enjoyed the listen. Personally I would keep all the instrumentation acoustic throughout and make the groove swing when the chorus comes in so as to lift and continue the groove you have going up to around 1:35 mark. It kinds of breaks the beach vibe when the organ comes in and backing track goes to that straight 1/8 note drive. A walking bass line, steel guitar, percussion and continuation of the Ukelele would sound terrific with that hook in the chorus. IMHO. Anyway, solid performance and you should be proud of it. Regards

Daryl, no bribery was involved?. I am a fan of 70's tom sounds so like them dry and no ring. It just stood out because the rest of the track is so clean. If you are going for a vibe with the toms holding out longer you could probably pull back the envelope if using SD3 and then use a nice reverb with HPF to have them ring a little longer without the whole drum head ringing. Just a thought. Regards
-
Nice one Bat, that Tele sounds great, as does the playing of it:) Regards
-
Daryl, Good song, very upbeat and enjoyable listen. Performances are all very well done. No crits other than the toms seems a bit boomy/ringy in the mix. If using SD3 try the envelope settings in the kit piece properties for taming. Otherwise good. Regards

Rik, Nice one, sounds great. Your playing style on this really adds to the period piece sound. You are a guitar chameleon. Regards

I think you would get more feedback if the songs were broken up. Realize they segue but difficult looking at a 46 minute montage and deciding what to comment on or even focus on or listen to. For me, it is an attention span deal, when much younger that today would sit down and listen to concept albums 2112, Animals, etc... over and over. Today nearing 60 my attention span is about 5 minutes:) Unfortunate side effect of busy schedules and age. Can't speak for others but I suspect the average age here is above 40 or 50 so maybe others have the same issue? Otherwise it seems there would be more comments just based on quality of the music. Glanced through some tracks, all well done, well produced, sound terrific. Listened to the last song in it's entirety and really enjoyed the song. I like how you mix in the orchestral parts, makes thing super interesting. Mix is terrific. Regards

Nice song, has some elements of 70's soft rock which was a great time for music. Very enjoyable listen. Regards

+1 on DeeringAmps suggestion for Sunset Studio, you can use the Live Rooms or Chambers to put all the players in the same space. Cool video on this topic - Your song is really good, well produced and superb groove. Agree the vocal effect is a little phasey, would definitely back that effect off. Nice listen. Regards

Lynn, Thanks for the opportunity to contribute to your original song. You did a really good job with not only the songwriting but also the overall production and performance. Glad to hear my small contribution was utilized. Great work on this song, really enjoyed it. Regards
