  1. Yang , In the above post you had 6 DINGs in different keys. You can always copy the 1'st Ding and paste the rest of them where you want them be. Do a "bounce to clips" that places all of them on the same clip. Then select that clip (with the 6 Dings) and then use melodyne to change the keys of the different dings. When you "render" that section it will have all the key changes you wan't. You can then paste it wherever you want in your song. Depending on how complicated you song is you wouldn't have to do it many times. Verse , chorus , etc .. mark
  2. Are you going into an interface from your mixer , or going directly into the pc with a usb cable? I don't see any pan knobs on the mixer for the different channels , so I'm assuming the "blend" knob on you mixer is mixing the 2 inputs. An interface is normally a "must Have" for any serious recording . mark
  3. Fantastic , I really liked the contrast between the lyrics and the satire(ish) way they were sung. Emeraldsoul expressed the exact same feeling I got from this. Top Notch .. mark
  4. Great job! I like the way you captured the way Paul Simon can half talk and half sing a phrase. You sure know how to choose what songs to cover. Enjoyed it .. mark
  5. I made quite few changes using all the suggestions. I hope this version is better. I think it's a lot smoother during the electric guitar parts. Let me know if I missed it. Thanks to everyone. mark
  6. If you right click the Freeze button there are a couple of options for the freezing process. Make sure the fx is selected . Mine always sounds the same after freezing. Fx and pro channel get embedded. You may wan't to tick the Slow Bounce button if any of your plugins or soft synth instruments don't like the fast bounce.
  7. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I'm sure going to look up the different musicians everyone has mentioned. To @emeraldsoulI'll look closer at the lows , there's a lot of 808 drums and samples in it. To @batsbrew the lead guitar was added Last after I thought it was sounding repetitive. I just put it in on top of everything instead of taking time to mix it in properly. It was conflicting with a couple of tracks, I corrected it and it sounds so much better now. I also boosted the bass . Great call! The comment "collectively it doesn't work" was Perfect. I'll re post after everyone has had a chance to weigh in . Thanks ... mark

    Platinum 72

Here's an instrumental I finished up recently. I tagged it as ambient because of the midi backing and feel but it's mostly guitar. I welcome any crits and suggestions Thanks .. markhttps://soundcloud.com/user-810058643/platinum-72 The link is now a remix with changes made from the comments and suggestions made below. Any further suggestions are welcomed . Thanks guys .. mark
  9. Bjorn , Great melody and mix. The guitars sounded very relaxed and convincing. I Loved the fiddle. You did a very good job with the grace notes almost got a bagpipe attack out of it. I believe SoundCloud did its' normal chop off the ending though . Enjoyed it .. mark
  10. J , I can't believe the Balance you achieved in this. I just listened again thru my boze cans. The clarity , tone and depth was incredible... mark
  11. That was "chilling" indeed. I can't wait to hear a further mix. Awesome story and writing. Highly impressed .. mark
  12. Thanks great suggestions and help. Been looking at externals for a few hours. Two weeks ago I put jeans in the washer with 32 gig flash in a pocket. I really need to get better at backing up. I've looked for projects that are now gone .. but I guess it's not as bad as doing it right @bitflipper and having it stolen ... mark
  13. Is the "save as" a better way to go than using bundle files ? Right now I'm I'm just saving on flash drive and had a problem with one of them. When you choose save as what do you define for the "as" option. Thanks mark
  14. Hello to all , I'm backing up some older projects and moving them off of my pc to gain some space on my small ssd. I found one project that's about 5 min long , but only has 6 audio and 2 midi tracks. "Lots" of comping on this one. The audio folder is over 7 gigs. My track count usually stays below 16 and project size normally stays below 500 mb. The folder is too large to go thru and Leary of doing a Clean audio folder for this one. I bundled it exported it out and deleted it. Anyone have any ideas how this could happen. I don't auto save and don't check create new file for each clip .. Thanks .. mark
  15. I revisited and remixed . Did some minor stuff and did some more vocal automation. If there are no big problems I'm calling this one done. May try to shop it. This place lies just outside of Nashville and now the home of a lot of people in the industry. Thanks to all of you .. mark
  16. Thanks to everyone for listening and for the Fantastic comments . You always keep me motivated. To @emeraldsoul These are the types of suggestions I am looking for. Thanks , I'll look real close at the vocal drops. No cigars .. I actually used a mahogany Starrett caliper box for this , but if anyone is interested you can buy some Really nice and cheap boxes from Atlantic Cigar co. To Tom @DeeringAmpsI'll post a jpeg of the build if I ever figure out how. I built one of those Cajon drum boxes at the same time. Now it's a nice amp stand. Thanks .. mark
  17. Hello , just finished this collaboration with my ex bandmate Rick Kimbrough who grew up on Hickory lake in Hendersonville Tenn. All crits an suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Weapons - Godin LaPatrie,Takamine Ltd,Fender jazz(Rick) and a homemade cigar box lap steel,Fender mandolin,SI drums. Thanks ..mark https://soundcloud.com/user-810058643/old-hickory-lake
  18. That was Very well written and performed. I really liked the chorus with all the harmony. Sounded a little Beatles like to me. I thought the wah guitar could have used a little reverb depth but other than that I thought it was Fantastic . mark
  19. Bjorn , I actually saw the movie recently on Svengoolie. Good but kinda dry without mood music. That was a great idea and creative on your part , and you now can say you did the music for a Dracula movie .. I'll bet there are a bunch of downloadable silent films to use.. Great job .. mark

    Gloss eq

Does anyone know what freq(s) the Gloss button enhances in the gloss eq module. mark
  21. Tom , as usual , Great guitar work and vocals. I also liked the keys , the TTS sounded good and I liked the way you played it hitting , the full chords instead of walking the notes. Great job on a great song , Love the blues .. mark
  22. Mark , Incredible Job! and Fantastic vocals. All the midi sounded like well played instruments. Fantastic mix except for the drums (totally agree with Tom) Just grab that drum buss and jack it up till' your head starts bobbing. mark
  23. I got to play with one of those Tonewood acoustic fx amps mounted on a Yari I used to own this weekend. Very cool device. The effect preset that sounded the best to me was Tremolo together with delay. The natural sound of this guitar with the effect coming out of the sound hole was awesome. Never even thought about using this fx combination on an acoustic. Something new to try .. mark
  24. Paul , that was Massive difference in the mix! It's a lot clearer sounding and the energy doubled. One thing to be aware of is adding a little extra silence after a fade out if you're reducing the bpm The streaming services are pretty bad about clipping the end off of one. Great job .. mark
  25. Enjoyed hearing that again . Great song and good job covering it. I always played in acoustic harmony bands and did a tremendous amount of CSN(Y), America, Poco etc .. That took me back mark
