  1. Welcome back @John Vere! I thought you had left the forum.
  2. I’ve watched a bunch of them and learned a lot. Thanks @Robert McClellan
  3. FWIW, on 02/27/2025 I had a project that would not stop playing no matter what I tried. Task manager, etc. showed things running normally (no high CPU for any processes, etc.). Had to kill Sonar via Task Manager. That was the first time that ever happened - never saw it with a prior build. All is running OK now. I'll report back if it happens again.
  4. Let's hope that bringing back the Theme Editor is on the ToDo list! Some of the Cakewalk themes that users came up with are great...
  5. As has been stated in many other threads, if you have a license for one of the older versions of Cakewalk (that included TTS-1), and install that BEFORE installing the new Sonar, TTS-1 will available. As for the Sonitus plug-ins - they're old, DX, but actually very good. Also, the Staff has said (in a thread I started recently) that an update is in progress for the Sonitus Suite. See https://discuss.cakewalk.com/topic/83803-sonitus-plugins-will-they-remain-in-sonar-and-be-supported/#comments
  6. Thanks @SVSX and @Misha I’ve had good success with both Vocal Rider and Trackspacer so I’ll continue using them. Will have to work more with gain automation as well. So much to learn!
  7. As suggested above by @mettelus and confirmed by @Starship Krupa the Neutron 4 sidechain was not enabled. Haven't used it much so I had to find the (kind of hidden) sidechain menu!
  8. Thanks @mettelus and @Starship Krupa! Great info. I will be testing out your suggestions today.
  9. An Electrician, Mechanic and IT guy get into a car together, and the car won't start. Electrician: "Might be the battery" Mechanic: "Might be the alternator" IT Guy: "Let's just all get out and get back in again"
  10. Thanks all for the comments. It seems to be a settings issue. For the rhythmic "chopped" effect the Sonitus Gate works well (for me). I also had luck and got some cool effects with the Kilohearts Trance Gate. Not so much luck with others (like Neutron 4). Guess it's just a matter of experimenting!
  11. Thanks @Amberwolf I’ll be at my PC later and will test again. It seems to be a setting issue, as the other gates I experimented with showed as side chain inputs.
  12. Thanks @OutrageProductions! Kilohearts Trance Gate produces a similar result! Just wish I understood what's going on under the hood and why I can't get other Gates (like Neutron 4 Gate) to produce similar results.
  13. Those more knowledgeable may find this to be an old trick, but it's new to me and sounds cool. Only problem is that I can't replicate the effect with other Gates - only the built-in Sonitus Gate does it. Anyone know why? Setup: > Insert a drum loop, groove, etc. (but could be anything - bass, etc.) > Insert a pad sound (ie, longer, sustained chords work well). > Insert Sonitus Gate on the Pad track > Insert a Send from the Drums to the Sonitus Gate > Play around with the Gate settings so that the sidechain input from the drum track "chops up" the pad. Creates some interesting rhythmic effects. Also works well if you duplicate the drum Track, use it for the Send source, but set its output to None, so it only acts as a trigger on the Pad Track. Have a listen to this example (Note: The Pad is just 4 sustained chords - I am NOT playing anything rhythmically on the keyboard). Comments welcomed! TestGatedEffect.mp3
  14. I'm still a newbie on mixing but did use Waves Vocal Rider on a project and it seemed to work well. This Youtube short (by @BigZMusic - he has some good content) says that you can use Fabfilter ProC (or similar) to achieve the same result. Opinions? Youtube short - Vocal Rider is a waste of money
  15. Totally agree. Being able to suppress the display of muted take lanes would be a welcome Feature! I'm tagging @Noel Borthwick. I'm sure Noel is a busy guy these days but he is also very responsive and takes improvement ideas seriously. Hats off to Noel!!
  16. I’d recommend you reach out to @Jim Roseberry. He builds custom DAW PCs and really knows his stuff!
  17. @David Baay's suggestion to turn on, in PRV, View\Hide Muted Clips does what I need. Looks like my "Feature Request" already exists - I just didn't know about it! Thanks David!
  18. Thanks @David Baay. Just saw that post. I'll test that, as it would likely be an acceptable workaround. There are so many things that Cakewalk/Sonar can do that allow you to achieve what you're after. It's amazing how much there is to learn about this great DAW!
