  1. hey antler! thanks for listening
  2. Thanks man the bass is definitely the driver Maybe I'll bring up the level of the guitar and a bit
  3. my uncle had that same amp/case combo and danelectro style guitar... i used to turn it all the way, and just let it feedback. thought that was the coolest thing in the world... got me started down the wrong path. LOL
  4. hey tom! you know, i had this song for a long time... like 15 years or more! so, i had a lot of time to refine the melodies, so they should feel 'broken in'. i've got some new vocal stuff i'm working on now, plus i'm doing some remixes and remaster of my previous "Wild Animals" album, so hopefully i'll have out soon!
  5. HI LARRY T! thanks, whammy bar, yes, that'd technically be my first effect! LOL, on a sears and roebuck electric, had something akin to a bigsby on it... stanley clarke! i used to listen to his early stuff a lot,, return to forever, the tony williams stuff, school days, good stuff!
  6. HA! BASS VST! no such thing in this studio. ? that's a carvin LB70, played into a combination of a sansamp bass di, and a strymon Iridium with an ampeg 4x10 cab. a little compression, and thats it. thanks jack!
  7. this one's fun! getup! getup! https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/track/poppin-tight
  8. thanks so much for that, paul. i work hard on these things, so i'm glad they work on some level!
  9. thank you craig! yep, tooele, i get out that way every once in a while, used to like to hike deseret peak just past grantsville on that side of the mountain range... try to get up to the mountains on a regular basis, i live about 20 minutes from Solitude ski resort.
  10. hey Ed! thanks man, i'm thinking about calming down the 'fuzz' middle section a bit. at first mix, i thought it should get more intense... like, you are at the kitchen window, looking out at the frost, the sun comes out, starts warming your face, and the fuzz is the face getting hot. LOL or you step outside, thinking it's actually warm, and the bitter cold air hits your face and freezes it!! LOL again
  11. hey thanks craig! appreciate the comments...
  12. from the bats brew album "Elemental". https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/track/spring-morning
  13. hi andy! appreciate the comments... yea, bang on message. bang on head. LOL glad you dig this one, more are coming (not message songs this will be the only one of those)
  14. i have found that mixing on earbuds will absolutely NOT translate to a full range loudspeaker system. they're great for checking mixes on, though
  15. you can ruin a mix, by putting a compressor behind a track that needed eq first. drives the compressor nuts. bottom line, like mark said, you need to have the mix right to start with. that's why i like to mix into sub busses, so i can treat the different parts of the band on their own sonic merits. if i eq'd individual tracks right, there shouldn't be a build up of eq at the sub bus level, but sometimes it happens.
  16. hey paul! yea, i'm diggin' the Strymon Iridium for these current tones... as a base crunch tone, the superlead is hard to beat. i can make it modern sounding, thru eq and using some of the pedals on my board, but i kinda like it unadorned like this. the choice of IR is key.
