  1. What John said above is the right answer. Send your Midi data to the PC thru USB. Run L/R audio outs from the keyboard to a stereo pair on the interface, and use direct/zero latency monitoring from your interface to hear the midi that you're working on. Edit in CW until you're happy, then record the audio thru your audio interface. I do this all the time with a number of external synths, including a Korg Kronos.

  2. Really cool soundscape  Dave, and I'm sure great exercise for your hand as well! Keep on pushing, I'm sure you can get your plane back where you want it to be. Great work! Followed you on SC as well.

Not heard the original and if you hadn't said anything, I would never have guessed the original was by The Grateful dead!!

Excellent stuff and really enjoyed the listen

I'm a big Grateful Dead fan, you did an awesome job with this song?

Thanks for the kind comment. Glad it represented well, I was a bit nervous that it wouldn't! I didn't want to try to reproduce the original, since that we clearly be impossible. Instead, tried to preserve it's original character and dignity, while putting my own vibe to it. Glad it came across well, really means a lot coming from a true Deadhead!

Never got into the Dead for some reason....listened to the original for first time before listening to your version....original blew me away, then, listened to your version which also blew me away....your work on the song is excellent. Playing, vox, mix all hit the right notes????

    Thanks Larry!

  6. I've wanted to cover this Grateful Dead tune for some time. Composed in 1970, the wonderful, timeless lyrics were penned by Robert Hunter, with music by Jerry Garcia. A bit of a departure from the band's early psychedelic music, it really hearkens back to Garcia's early roots in folk music. I tried to preserve the intimate character of the original song, while putting a bit of a different rhythmic vibe to it.

  7. Hi Treesha, very cool and creative composition, well conceived and performed! Nice production work overall, great sound selection, good balance and use of panning effects. Happy vibe, cool chord changes, and like the synth leads and flourishes thru out. Great work!

  8. Wow Peter, this is really fabulous! If you hadn't said anything, I would've thought the instrumentation was originally done together with the rap! Your arrangement and instrument choices are all very tasty and fit well. Honestly, nothing jumped out that needs dramatic adjustment. Seemed very spontaneous with the improvisational feel, and having some imperfections seems to fit well also. Looks like you have a future as a hip hop producer, my friend!

  9. Really like this track, strong composition and performance. Mix wise, I agree with Treesha, biggest thing I hear is the guitar is kind of hogging the center of the mix. Seems like it should be moved back and spread out, and the vocals should be more forward and present. You could even set a side chain compressor to duck the guitars when the vocals come in and then they could go back up again when vocs stop. Overall great job though, keep at it!

  10. Hey, great job on this Keith! Really well composed, produced and performed. Excellent guitar work, overall sound is good, but seems like the lead section could perhaps be a little more upfront. Maybe cut the reverb a bit or make it less roomy sounding. Really loved the backwards piano at the beginning!

    Welcome to the Machine ?

Genre isn't my cup of tea but I'm well aware of how much effort went into this and why people would enjoy it. Well done ?

Hey Keith, thanks so much for the listen and the feedback! And haha, you win the booby prize!! You're the first one to catch the synth programming nod to Welcome to the Machine, or at least to mention it ?

Ross, I love the layered development of the music over time. The vocal tracks really add to the wonderful sound as well. Good stuff!
Big Omnisphere fan here as well.

Hey Bjorn, thanks so much for the listen and for the feedback! Appreciate your ears! Yeah, Omnisphere is so cool, kind of like an endless ocean of sound options

Overall really, really nice. The intro is pretty much state of the art sound wise. I think the entrance of the drums at 1:33 could use a wider/stereo drum mix to really open it up and get the listeners attention. The vox is good, the lyrics from Ecclesiastes 3 are universal truths????

Hey Larry, thanks man, I appreciate the listen and the feedback! Yeah, I actually have thought about that very thing, I actually remixed it recently and tried to pump that section up a little bit.  It's a bit of a dilemma, because when I turn it up too much, it the thumping seems to distort.  I added some compression, and it seemed to help, maybe I'll revisit it again and try spreading it out a bit like you said...
