Sorry I should have put my comments in the feedback thread. The additions are nothing short of amazing in this last build.

Over and out. No, really, I mean it. Seriously, I have plugins to learn, and music to make, and fellow musicians to help. And I still have a day job (thankfully). So that's it. I'm gone. For good... 'til tomorrow, at least.
Same here. lol. See ya tomorrow then.

I'm having some odd behavior using this build I wanted to report. This has happened now in two different projects.
I have multiple instances of Kontakt running and freeze the tracks. At this point all is well. I then decide to unfreeze one track to make changes to the midi.
When I do this the tracks somehow are changing places when I try to refreeze again. Also, in unfreezing only one track three tracks unfreeze. Maybe this has something to do with the audio setup in Kontakt? I have not had this issue in using the last build.
Secondly I had music playing but no cursor movement on my screen. That issue seemed to improve when I exited my Nvidia apps. When I relaunched the program using the same project I then had two cursors showing on the screen. One of them worked .The other one was locked. Today the cursor issue went away, but I still have the tracks moving around when I unfreeze synths in Kontakt. One track will play the midi from another track.
With this project I think I will need to export the tracks I can save and start a new project to add more synths.

Thank You Fretman.
I have had the mic since version 2.0 and there was an older one before the one I have. It came in a decent foam storage box in plastic with a moisture removal packet. I only use it when I take measurements which is only if my setup changes. Any other time it sits in a closet in that box in a temperature controlled room. The mic is maybe 4 to 5 years old.
The first time I used it in probably two years was a few days ago because I moved my monitors to a higher elevation and a little further forward. The correction looked very similar to the old correction. Not sure it changed much. My gut feeling is the new mic would give me better corrections. How much better I don't know. the 2.5 software let me choose that specific mic. What this tells me is it made a correction based on the average behavior of that mic. There is no guarantee my mic hasn't changed slightly over time. Shouldn't have changed much though since I haven't used it. It hasn't been knocked around or dropped ever. My other condenser mics get a lot of use and they haven't changed to any large degree.
IK haven't come right out and said this, but I think introducing the new mic has more to do with probable inconsistency in the manufacturing process of the older mics. I doubt age has a lot to do with it IMO unless the mic was stored and used in bad conditions. IK can better be assured of the consistent accuracy of the MEMS mic .vs the older mic. If they admitted that there might have been inconsistencies in the older mics at time of manufacture this would place doubt on the correction results, so they can't say that. Instead they say the older mics change with age which is neither true or false all depending. Apparently the MEMS mics are not inconsistent.
When it comes right down to how this affects those of us who have the older mics, it might be a few db difference here or there all depending on the response of the mics. Since they aren't consistent we can't judge one mic against another. Mine might be great while the next one isn't or the other way around. This isn't to say we couldn't still get a correction that is so close it might not matter in the long run but this all depends on the correction, the mic and the space.
In hindsight I think IK should give a break on the mic prices to upgrade for those who have the older mics since we have a product we thought would be good for a long time and now is said to be less accurate.
Secondly we should not have the option to choose the older mic in software if it can't be guaranteed to do a good job. The mic should be off the table and not recommended at all.

Mine is defaulting the other way.
To answer your question, If the vocals are aggressive and almost clip in places I would use light compression, but only after I've determined the gain staging couldn't be better set. If the vocals were not aggressive and well under 0db, I might not use anything if they already sit well in the mix. If they need some space in the mix I would mostly use subtractive EQ unless their voice needed a slight boost in the mids. Most vocalists sing in the mid or high mid ranges. To remove things like mic bumps and rumbles I high pass probably below at least 60bd and maybe even below 100 db. I always do this first with all compression off. Nothing saying you can't add multiple EQ if necessary.
You could , for instance, High pass before any more efx. Add a compressor after that EQ set to tame a few peaks. This is because a typical EQ doesn't see when the issue is occurring. It just cuts and boosts frequencies. A compressor will only work when it sees a peak. You could then add yet another EQ to better balance the compressed vocal.

HERE is a comparison chart.
The chart doesn't specify if any of the sounds are ST3 sounds. I would guess that some are.
To be clear ST 4 MAX is included in TS MAX. Two different animals.

I don't personally think the high brass goes with the guitar in those Brass Against vids. The tuba would be ok. Musically their stuff isn't as complex as the older vids posted. Playing in unison with a guitar on the chorus. Sorry to be a stick in the mud here. Just doesn't work for me. Either play the brass and back off the guitar or leave the brass out when playing the guitar. These guys work hard to get their tone right only to have brass playing over it.
I do like the vox drums and percussion though. Maynard Ferguson was one of my heroes back in the day when I played trumpet. I could hit the "triple C" as we called it but not for long and it was tough. Maynard makes it look easy. Maybe it was easy for him. I didn't have a top notch horn like him. Those expensive horns were likely tuned to play those high notes easier using the right mouth piece. Always liked the piccolo trumpet or E trumpets never played one.

SampleTank 4 MAX only includes Miroslav CE, not the full version, so those are the only sounds that would be there.
You would have to buy TS2 MAX, or Miroslav FULL to get the rest. Is that what you're asking?cclarry I think I need more coffee. Yes I was asking that and you answered it. My next question was sort of related. I wanted to know if I have all of the Sampletank 3 sounds in 4 MAX. I think I know but wasn't sure. Sorry for the long post there. I was attempting to give some history of the sounds I already have. Hopefully this is a bit more condensed.

There is. This conversation finally made me check it. I disengaged it. I had planned to look into it but so many other things going on. When I first loaded the program that was the default setting it gave me. In addition Sonarworks has a selection that will not let both the OS and plugin versions run at the same time. This was not selected by default which was causing issues if I used it in my DAW while also in the OS. I have had SW for awhile so maybe there is an update to that program. I only use the head phones version right now. Would be interested to hear how the monitors version compares to ARC.
ARC can be tricky on the setup. Some people set it up and run out of the room for each take. I always sit in my mix position when I set it up because I think your body being in there makes a difference, even if only a small one. Also if taking measurements I was taking one for door open and one for door closed. It's a little tricky to do this way. I use noise reduction ear plugs so the noises don't bother me and have a small boom mic stand with the mic at ear level pointing straight up . The stand is tight against my chair. I take a measurement and then can adjust the mic at any position with that stand.
For me right now the main consideration is the mic. My mic wasn't the 1st generation it was the second with an orange ring around the base of it. Resembling an expensive Earthworks mic. Since the new MEMs mic is about 100.00 I need to know if there was a significant improvement in the MEMs mike. If it is better by a wide margin maybe I will looking into buying one. Would be nice to hear from someone who has used both. One of the new features of 3.0 as I understand it is that is accepts different mics. Not sure what that means specifically.

Well it's only available as an insert in your DAW. In contrast to SonarWorks, that also adds a virtual out on OS level, so you can listen Spotify etc. with room correction.
TBH having Sonarworks for headphones always launch in my OS audio is a pain for me since I often use my monitors. I personally would rather have the option not to have it running through my OS audio. Another thing I have been having issue with Sonarworks is it doesn't always play well with youtube audio.
Some people were using ARC the same way by adding it to an OS audio player than accepts vst plugins like Winamp. That way they could take advantage of the correction system wide.
I'm still not sure if the new mic is better than the old mic. TBH the older mic looks better made. The new mic looks like it's made of plastic. It would be useless to buy ARC 3 with better capture capability if the old mic is holding me back. The fact that you can crossgrade without the mic seems to suggest that it works like this, however is it less effective, better with new mic or the same?

I wasn't a full ST 3 MAX owner. Didn't own ST3 full either. Only The CE version prior to recently buying ST4MAX. I noticed there were ST3 sounds in that package. I had also downloaded the CE version of ST4.
Pardon me, this has probably already been answered but I'm a little thick sometimes. This is how I interpreted what has been said so far. ST 4 CE had extra sounds in it added later. ST 3 had extra sounds added later. ST3 is merged into ST4 MAX. If I don't download Sampletank programs on my customer products list will I have all of the Sampletank sounds already? The reason I find this confusing is because there was only a partial list of Miroslav sounds in ST 4 MAX. I know I need to download that to get the full set. Is the same thing true with ST3? Am I only getting a partial list in ST4MAX?
Another thing that was slightly confusing were the file designations for Amplitube 4 MAX. I downloaded and unzipped the file under my products page but don't have anything listed as "Amplitube MAX" in my computer. Only Amplitube 4. I don't think the zip is even named "Max". I already had Amplitube 4.
Is this tripping anyone else up or am I the only one?

I always come to these deals late. The server is overloaded here. At least the Miroslav files are so slow. I'm not sure the 180 days expiration is going to be enough time. Might want to wait a bit if you bought this.
Now someone is going to say their files are downloading with no issues. Is that supposed to make me feel better?
I got a great deal on this. 99.00 with my jam points.

So you're they guy who has the IK server overloaded.?
I'm getting like 1 hour to download one small folder from there. I'll be in the retirement home by the time I get all of my files.

This is very tempting. I have an "assortment" of IK software. Recently went with Sampletank 4 Max, already have Amplitube and several of their packs. T-Racks basic version. Lurssen is something I wanted to try. I don't need it because I have plenty of mastering things already. Miroslav Philharmonic 2 is something I might use and only have what's included in ST MAX which isn't the full library.
I like that this puts everything in one place and as cclarry said upgrades from then on will only be under that grand title. The only comparison I can think of is Komplete.
Competes favorably with Komplete. You could call it the poor man's Komplete. The only poor man might be the person buying Komplete. A penny saved is a penny earned. I have Komplete and haven't used everything in it. They are both good HUGE libraries. Total Studio Max is a bargain in comparison. It could be argued between the two which libraries sound better. I am happy with ST MAX.

Usb 3.0 will be better than usb 2.0. A lot depends on how many samples you intend to pull from the drive and computer spec.
8gb will be ok for small mixes. Unfortunately most laptops ship with only 8gb for basic work. Can't hurt to give it a try. If the software you use lets you load on two machines I would give it a try. If planning large projects using lots of plugins and tracks you are a little under spec. If I could add another 8gb I would.
Sampletank doesn't care if you copy their files somewhere else
I would maybe attempt to copy over to the external SSD but still leave the samples on the other computer too. In fact this isn't a bad idea because there is an expiration date for downloading those files from Sampletank if something happens to your computer and you need them again. If you went past the date there is an additional charge...something like 10 bucks.

Noticed they have a few free paks too.

Downloaded it last evening. Covers some bases for me in mixes. I had epic drums and believe this is a great addition to that. The "keys" sound sound like the best wind chimes ever to me. Would fit well in one of my elven mixes.

Thanks!
I copied everything over to another portable drive, deleted the contents of the folder.
Can you tell me where that folder is in CbB? I looked in Preferences>Folders and didn't see that folder listed.
Thanks!

Exponential Audio products are not connected with the Izotope portal. ilok is probably a safer place for it than the portal IMHO.
If the software somehow gets corrupted or your computer goes down simply reload the software on a new computer and insert the ilok.
I started out with ilok cloud and have been with them for probably 8-10 years. If anything I feel it's a good place to store plugin and library info.
Nothing is ever a sure thing. It's about as close as it gets IMO. You can bet they have redundant servers in different locations.

Upgrade prices seem very reasonable. It's the price of entry that seems expensive to me. I recently looked at Pro Tools It's expensive to buy as well. About the same price. It almost looks to me like they have a similar marketing strategy to PT. The subscription version of PT comes with over 80 plug ins. I just can't get into a subscription at 26 dollars a month....for life...unless it goes up. There is also a free version of that DAW.
As I understand it, PT is great for audio editing which is where it began, Cubase is probably the best for midi work at a very detailed level. Cakewalk started out as a midi sequencer. It is at the very least number 2 in my eyes when it comes to midi and it might be closer than that to Cubase. Almost like comparing another sore subject Intel .vs AMD...both are good and one is very close to the other. Most of the midi editing features anyone will ever need are in Cakewalk along with a few not many will ever use . Buying into Cubase is probably similar to buying into Sonar in the Gibson days. You'll get Halion lite, nice plugins, a vocal plugin that resembles a better version of V-vocal, drums and pretty much anything else you could need to build tracks.
In reading the VI forum it seems there were issues with Cubase running on Macs recently. So bad that some users were jumping ship to other DAWs or going over to PC custom builds for their movie track work. To say Hans Zimmer being behind that DAW helped a little is probably an understatement. For the person who just wants to record a band it's probably overkill and then some. You don't absolutely need Cubase for movie work. There are guys using Reaper and Ableton for it.

Fill your email in HERE or create an account with Mastering The Mix and you will get a confirmation serial number for the 180 day extension.
ANIMATE is also available as a trial. I didn't see a time limit on it. Reminds me of Andrew Scheps Parallel Particles.
I tried Expose on a trial and ended up buying it. It seems all of Tom's plugins are good.

You may move the authorization to another computer pretty quickly online or simply take the ilok to the other computer with the license on it.
I understand if you move back and forth between computers a lot it's a small hassle for sure. I seldom use computer 2.

I just finished my file downloads. I generally create a folder on a separate SSD drive for each large library. I download all of the zipped folders to that folder. I unzip the folders in the same folder I created. Later on I'll drag the zipped versions onto another drive for safe storage. I downloaded all of the programs to my downloads folder. I will open them from there and install each one. Then I designate to the program where the files are located. This worked well when I installed ST4 MAX.
When I first attempted to download I was getting an hour wait time to download a 1.2gb file. Last night I left the computer on and selected all files for download. Didn't work. Tried again today downloading each file separately and downloads per file averaged 6-10 minutes. This seems to be about average for the server for me.
It wasn't so bad since I kept myself busy doing other things. Just had to remember to keep initiating the downloads. If it had been the only thing I was doing I would have probably died of boredom.
