Amplitube 5 is here - Release Date 15/12/20 or 16/12/20
Matthew Sorrels replied to Fret Flintstone's topic in Deals
I think if you go AT5 SE rather than full AT5 and decide you want some of that new gear I don't believe you will be able to purchase any of it in the custom shop. That's the one unclear thing. So for example those two new rooms, I don't think they will be sold outside the full AT5. You will get all the AT5 features and all your AT4 stuff will be fully usable with the advanced features. But the 2 new stomps, 5 acclaimed amps, 2 new rooms, 19 new rack FX may not be available. The 100 completely re-captured cabinets you'll get if any of them were included with AT4 (I think). But the 2 stomps, 5 amps, 2 rooms and 19 new racks it's not clear if you can buy in the custom shop in pieces or if you will have to buy the full AT5 to get them. And I don't think there is any discount on AT5SE to AT5. So you end up "buying" it again. As a result I decided full AT5 was the cheaper path. Getting AT5SE first would make getting full AT5 more expensive. But it's possible that AT5 new gear would be available in the store in pieces, which you might be able to get using group buys or other discounts. Which might be cheaper than the extra $50 for the full AT5. I decided the odds of that are very low though. -
If you are blocking Facebook and don't have an account instead of seeing the image Larry posted you just see a string of numbers, like this: If I right click on the string of numbers I can view image and see what he's actually posted. Might be because I'm running the Firefox plugin Facebook Container. I'll admit it makes a lot of Larry's posts make no sense, but that's OK if it keeps Facebook out of my life.

So I watched this again: Is it just sad that the one thing that really makes me excited is the new preset browser? -

I was fooled by the "native plugins" line myself. They consider native to mean native to FL Studio. That said all the synths can be used in other DAWs using the FL Studio plugin. Which I tested out with Cakewalk and found it works pretty nicely.

It's on their forum. I got the Signature edition in the charity auction this weekend and when I saw they were doing this went ahead and bought the upgrade, only to find the VST versions have been removed for the duration of the sale. Here's the post: https://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=241983 I still got a pretty good deal, but it was kind of disappointing to realize the VST versions that I thought were part of the all plugin edition wasn't included in this offer.

Their page that shows what qualifies for what is kind of crazy. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/eligibilitycheck/ But Larry is right they do have three classes of discounts: Upgrade, Crossgrade, or Maxgrade But I think it's safe to assume that whatever you own will never qualify for any of them -- if and only if the discount for that level is actually a good deal. -
Note they have removed the VST versions from the all plugins edition only during this Black Friday special. Very disappointing.

Given the blow out deals on Total Studio and the general devaluing their Max versions, I doubt owning the paid or not paid versions of any IK product will ever make a difference in upgrade pricing again. If they don't actually offer real update pricing, it won't matter how you get Amplitube 5 Max. -

This was my conclusion. That in order to get all the new AmpliTube 5 stuff you had to at least buy the full AT5, the SE version wouldn't close that gap. And there is no "upgrade" path from SE to Full or Max. So I placed my pre-order on that basis. -
That's odd. I just exited and restarted Cakewalk and re-loaded the project with the Pitch change and now it plays correctly (without requiring it be applied). So I did the process again. Start with a new Kontakt project (I have a Kontakt 6 template). I load in the MIDI Transforms and the Chord Triad Articulation maps. Then using the Chord Triad I add two chords. Then I shift drag to make copies of those cords to get the four chords you can see in the screen shot in the first post. I play this and it sounds great. I then do a right click and "Apply all articulations to track" and so I get actual chords. I then go and add the pitch articulation for +12 to the second chord. When I play this it doesn't change the notes sent to Kontkat. I save the project and close it and reopen it. The re-opened version plays correctly with the pitch being increased.

The problem is they don't do upgrades. They do have a discount for IK customers that have bought something worth $99 or more but that's it. They haven't done upgrades for a long time. Despite the fact my order for AT5 said "upgrade" the price was the same as a $99 level IK customer with no AT products at all. Becuase of this I don't think "MAX" has any meaning, So I keep re-buying the same products over and over I guess. -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2020.10 Early Access 2
Matthew Sorrels replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
The Blade2 crash happens for me on an empty project, if you add it and press the panic it crashes. Not sure why it wouldn't crash with the demo version, but it sure does with the full version. Out of all the synths in Rob Papen's Explorer 6: Blade, Blade2, Punch, Punch-BD, Punch-BD Multi, Punch2, Punch2 Multi, PunchMulti all crash. But none of the other synths just Blade and Punch. Not sure if this happened in previous Cakewalk versions though, it may not be new to the early release. -

So CS is not good enough for people (like me) with AT4 Max + everything but Sach. That's fine I think that makes sense. So we need to buy AT 5 SE or AT 5 or AT 5 Max. So what's the difference between those three for me? Is there gear that is only in Max or the Full AT 5 that can't be bought a la carte and added to 5 SE? -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2020.10 Early Access 2
Matthew Sorrels replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
When I installed the first early access I got an error message at the end of the install "Out of system resources." I kind of just brushed it off since everything seemed to install correctly. I just did this 2nd early update from inside Cakewalk. Once again at the end of the install I got the error message. This time I grabbed a screen shot. I'm not sure what kind of resouce it could be complaining about, I have tons of disc space and 128GB of ram. When doing the update from inside Cakewalk it's not closing Cakewalk and brings up the dialog saying it's running. Perhaps you should exit Cakewalk when you launch the installer? -
I think it's 99 Euro minimum for all of them. So no reason at all to use the non 20 code. Wow20 worked on my order and took off $19.71, I'm guessing do to Euro->Dollar conversion factors.

It also doesn't have a date, just Q4 2020. The "press release": https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=10048 Also claims "129 new gear models" I guess the real question is, Amplitude 4 Max + X = Amplitude 5 Max This line in the release is interesting -

It looks like they have added two new types of things, Speakers and Rooms, that aren't in AmpliTube 4. It may be necessary to buy some level of AmpliTube 5 to get all those things I'd guess. But all your current stuff should upgrade in the CS version. Maybe. The last T-Racks was kind of like that I guess. -

It's a collection of plugins that work in various hosts. The box that appeared is just the activation manager. You need to load something like Blackmagic Resolve (free video editor) or Adobe After Effects to use these plugins. I'm not sure about HitFilm, I thought these were "built" into it, but I've never really bothered looking that closely.
