  1. Yeah I am kind of random in that regard as well. I'm flipping through YouTube and I see something I think looks interesting. Doesn't matter if I like the band or not. I have zero interest in Elton John but I was curious about how he got started. He is a pompous ***** but he sure can play. I also checked out Freddy Mercury. I always thought he was a truly talented person, but man, what a crazy self destructive life. That video also showed me the seedier side of the music business. There is a side to much of it the public never sees which generally takes many of these bands into a self destructive mode. People who travel constantly, have no real home base, are on all kinds of substances and probably tired tend to argue and loose their grip on reality sometimes. They often become more like kids who need a baby sitter than adults.
  2. The title of this thread reminds me of the click bait I see on YouTube all the time. The first thing I want to do is click it to see WHY there is a problem since most don't just pick up and leave a software program for no good reason. Sure I have had those ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!! moments with CbB and in the other 4 DAWS I sometimes use. Trust me, no matter what program you use it's going to happen. Best thing to do is walk away and regain composure, come back to it level headed again and approach the problem in a more calm logical way. If you do this you will always find a solution. If anything maybe this is something that we could consider as a future feature request on CTRL+S. If the auto save feature is not saving the same as the manual save resulting in potential loss of a project, maybe something could be changed in future versions of the program ? Even so, this won't guarantee you'll never have grief over CbB or any other software program. It happens. Sometimes not for a long while, other times more frequently. The OT poster seems to acknowledge all of that and instead is upset over the supposed frequency of the failures which were not taken here for resolutions so far as I know nor were they disclosed in any detail. Just a 'lot of stuff went wrong'. That isn't very helpful. A problem can be the same problem although it is taken much more seriously when it involves clients and hours of recording .vs a dude playing in his home studio. I would take this as lessons learned the hard way and save manually on a regular basis. The days of instability for most in CbB are over. If this was true the forum would be glutted with such responses. No matter how stable the program is we still get these periodic rants by emotionally charged frustrated people who decided to come at Cakewalk for all of their problems. Just walk away, cool off, come back and sure if it makes you feel better, buy another DAW. Whatever works for you. I mean Cakewalk isn't losing any revenue. I'm sure they want happy users. They have worked hard and continue to work hard to maintain the program. In addition they have one of the most helpful forums in all of the web.
  3. Same here. I have a bunch. It has been argued there isn't much difference between free plug ins and paid ones. I would take this on a case by case basis since they are not all equal. In some cases there is a HUGE difference in audio quality and processes. In other cases the lines are more blurred. Tokyo Dawn and Melda are just a few who offer a few free plugins as leaders to their paid product. There are other companies out there that have a hand full of very useful free plugins. Pros and cons to each. A person has nothing to loose by trying free plugins(unless malware is piggy backing on them) I would only download from reliable sources. Some are gifted at writing plugins and not very business savvy. They get their reward by seeing the numbers of persons who download what they made. There is some satisfaction in that. Others might have a donation box on their web site. There are some amazing free plugins out there. There are others that were just someone's hobby, they might work ok but not the best. If I were looking at free plugins I would not try anything old like 32 bit stuff, but that's me. Theoretically, a person could get along just fine with the RIGHT free plugins in addition to their DAW. Ongoing support and updates are reasons to stick with paid plugins. Generally speaking bought plugins are often much better written and implemented than paid plugins. Makes sense- larger and often more skilled design teams. And you could literally have hundreds of them because they don't have a huge footprint compared to something like sample libraries. It only stands to reason I guess that if a person downloaded a free DAW like CbB, they might be into free plugins as well.
  4. Only a small percentage of the population has near perfect symmetry. I was sorta kidding about it. Not too long ago there was a study covering what makes attractive people attractive, and it was determined many of them have good symmetry. We subconsciously see beauty in symmetry. Truly perfect symmetry looks a bit odd. As an example they took a person and photo shopped one side as two. People with noticeably off symmetry as in unusual cases are not seen as attractive. Just another lump of probably useless data. As people age some of their facial features continue to grow.
  5. I have heard if we look in the mirror and don't see symmetry something might be off. I mean.....it could be a problem with the mirror too. After years using one of the older cell phones I think it grew my left ear about 2% bigger than my right ear. Darned radiation.
  6. I'm going to step away and when I come back I hope I'm back in the normal reality. Note to self- Stay away from those oatmeal pies.
  7. Is it just me or does this guy resemble Benny Hill?
  8. I generally don't like to stick out in public. I like to blend. This means if I go into Walmart I have to find something unusual to wear. My toes don't see the light of day much.
  9. Oh man. The last time I bought chocolate I thought it was going to be good. It was 99%cocoa. Nope. It tasted like a block of unsweetened chocolate because that's what it was. Hershey moved their production to Mexico and that chocolate isn't as good any more. I think German chocolate is where it's at. JMO. Coffee? Say no more. Becan? No one around here cares much for it. * ducks and runs*.
  10. The sarcastic side of me- Great, another tool to make the very best music possible that will be mixed down to a 128 mp3 and never get past the ceiling.? The optimistic side of me- Presonus is making lots of money! Was that optimistic?
  11. "I think there is a little thing wrong with me that makes me temporarily happy" Oh I think that's probably more common than most think it is.
  12. Should I google that? I don't know what it is but I think I know what it is, meaning no I should not google that.
  13. Two little mice were caught in the plastic compartments of my mower. They were itty bitty. I caught them and let them go outside. I should have probably stepped on them but couldn't bring myself to do it.
  14. I'm pretty sure it isn't good to get hair on the alembic....is it?
  15. I need to borrow a cat for a night or two. There are mice in my shed. I figure I'll lock the buggar in there. The cat gets a nice meal. I loose the mice.
  16. I felt I needed to clarify. I call them Bubbies. Not their real names. As a result they don't know what their real names are. God help me if they get lost, someone reads their tags and tries to call then by those names.
  17. I may not get as excited about plugins, but I would miss going to look at the deals forum just in case I might get exited. I could play peanut gallery over there and really PO plug in vendors, but that isn't really my style........or is it? What they say- " If you can't say anything good then don't say anything at all". I guess it all depends. I wish someone would have sat me down and talked to me about my ex. It wouldn't have been good news. It would have saved me a lot of grief. We have plenty telling everyone how wonderful all of these instruments and plugins are. Maybe I could be the dark side? I'll need a partner though........wait! my phone just rang. Just heavy breathing and a click.
  18. @kennywtelejazz That's quite an interesting bunch of things there. I will stop with the commentary and try to come up with a few more. Listening to the birds. A nice evening walk. My doggies little 'bubs'.
