I tried Pianoteq . It is truly a very nice instrument. I keep waiting for it to go on a serious sale. I have Arturia Piano V. It's also quite amazing. I can't explain it, but my last several mixes and quite a few before those, I would go through 10 different pianos in a mix. Could not find what I was after. Pulling at straws I would reluctantly load up SONiVOX Eighty Eight and it just fit in those mixes with little of no tweaking. I forget exactly what I paid for it, but it came with several other SONiVOX libraries for a very reasonable price. Go figure. Sometimes that's the way it works in a mix. You drop in one of the least likely candidates and it just works.

Is it set up for audio? I understand it's a lot more fun to buy a new computer than to attempt to squeeze more juice out of an old one. One possible solution- Buy a MOBO/ cpu combination. You say you don't want to work on a computer. Maybe you know someone who would be willing to do the swap for you ? If you already need a general home computer update, I would check my hardware requirements and get one that could be purposed for music.

I'm kind of there too. I always think I'm done, but if I were completely done I probably wouldn't be coming back here. ? One day I'll be very old, my computer will die and my memory will be gone so I won't remember what I did with all of my passwords. I will at least remember I had a lot of fun playing with all of it. Maybe I can pass my plugins along to the next generation ?

I love the SHURE KSM 44 for both vocals and guitar. Another favorite of mine is the Audio Technica 4033A. I go for the 4033a on my vocals all the time. I am a tenor. Tones from it are sharp, detailed and crispy.

What's your present setup @Mr Torture?

Thank you @scook Can't pass that deal up.

Nice! Thanks. Why are we buying libraries when we can get these for free?

If this was the coffee house we would be talking about Uranus, but it isn't so...................... Exit stage left or as the B says- I'll get me coat.

No worries. At least you are aware I have them.

Yeah I know. Every time I think I have something then SHAZAM!! ..I get the little reminder he's already been there done that

I have read a lot about the tests giving false positives. I had the long swab up my nose at the pharmacy drive through because we rented a house during the holidays with other persons who were especially prone to sickness. I tested negative then. I have had both injections and the booster. Not sure if the injections really helped much or not. Since they don't really know the long term effects of the vaccine, it's hard to tell what the outcome will be. When I look in the mirror in the morning I look normal. So far so good.

I guess I should have been in the deals thread more. Oh well. Shadow Hills B isn't bad. Still looking at Shadow Hills A. Not sure how this whole combination is going to pan out in the future. I see NI offering Ozone deals in combination buys with their libraries. Maybe they will even integrate Ozone tech into NI instruments. Plugin Alliance looks to be the odd man out. There is overlap in plugin sales with Ozone. Hard to tell what's going to happen at this point.

Kirchhoff EQ Better Than Fabfilter Pro Q 3

Darn my foot won't reach around there. -
Well at least my premise was solid. I was attempting to show how simplicity could have made the Korg process so much easier and comparing it to that old story which I rather like even though it probably isn't true. One thing we can be pretty sure of here- Korg could stand to do a little streamlining of their process IMHO.

You lucky buggar. ?I think I payed something for Brainworx' bx_Masterdesk. As I recall it wasn't very much, but still.... I hate to admit I forgot I have it until now. Here's the thing that's blurring the lines for me a little bit with Plugin Alliance. Aren't they now owned by Ozone? And Ozone and NI are together as well. Does that work for or against us? Maybe I have my info wrong too. I've looked at Shadow Hills. The A one. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. The thing that causes me some reluctance is I need to learn what all of those knobs do. Is it just eye candy or is it a pretty decent copy? And it almost NEVER goes on sale, even when everything else is on sale. Sure I can get Shadow hills B on sale. Not the high end one.

I'm going to kick myself if I try F6 and it's as good as the Pro Q LOL. -
Kirchhoff EQ Better Than Fabfilter Pro Q 3
Tim Smith replied to Tim Smith's topic in Production Techniques
? I use Mdynamic EQ or similar on master in mixes where the mids in the 300-500 hz range are overpowering. A common problem with mic'd acoustic guitars. Of course I try to eliminate this at the track level but sometimes these freqs build up on the master and need taming. An EQ with low cpu load is ok on track channels too. I have no problem attempting to catch some of it at the track level. This is usually my first thing to do if it's necessary. I'm in the habit of going for Pro Q 3 even on tracks in a small mix for anything with accentuated mids. If it's a larger more demanding mix, then I'll use an EQ with less demand on the cpu. I find most of the other frequency issues are easily dealt with using almost any decent EQ. Sometimes an overly aggressive pluck or drum hit will need a dynamic. If I have a bass clash problem I'm attempting to side chain to knock down one of the offending tracks. I'm guessing you mean they are similar in this way? I think the large GUI and monitor functions aside from the dynamic functions are what makes the Pro Q one of my favorites. I agree it Mdynamic isn't entirely transparent as an EQ. And you bring up a good point here. This is the reason I looked for a better EQ, especially on the master- Transparency. I think it's hard to design an EQ that's totally transparent. In what way would you say it isn't transparent? Can you hear distortion or fudging between the filters? My ears might not be quite that good. -
Thanks for this. I'll post a link in a new thread so as not to interfere with the Korg thread.? With my luck It's probably already been posted. Worth posting again.

Kirchhoff EQ Better Than Fabfilter Pro Q 3

Wasn't aware of Waves F6. I checked my Waves collection and I don't think I have it. Did some research. It's a very reasonable way to get into a dynamic EQ at Waves 29.00 asking price at this time. Has anyone mixed with Eiosis AirEQ? Many report it being a fine EQ. I don't believe it's dynamic EQ though. -
I guess this comment was what had me on pianos and Reid's subsequent comments on pianos. Since we are talking about the Korg products I thought this was the direction. I see the M-1 as having strengths in other areas. I had the original M-1 and I remember composing Handel's Messiah in that little sequencer. I took the M-1 to a gig and there was another keys player there who commented on how lacking the pianos in it were. He sorta took the wind out of my sails then because I was really hyped about owning the coolest keyboard anywhere! At the time it was. I really had no way to directly compare it to a real piano so I made it work and frankly, in a mix it could work. Back in the day those extra cards were like 75$ a pop and the software M-1 has them all included. At one time I drooled over those. The DX 7 was probably the most popular keyboard before the M-1 came out.

I'm sure the pianos in Triton are an upgrade compared to pianos in M-1. I've heard those pianos played on YouTube videos. As you mentioned, you probably wouldn't be scouting a Triton for piano sounds. I might still consider the Triton if I can get them to give me a sale price for it. I would not be looking primarily at the piano sounds if I bought it. "Skippy" co designer of UNIFY was on the Korg team designing those sounds. The thing you might notice with Korg is they accomplished a lot using basic sounds and superior effects for their time. The sound design was and still is amazing. If you want a similar and possibly even more pliable way to customize sounds that are very similar buy into UNIFY. Skippy never lost his touch and still designs his sounds, only now it's mostly in UNIFY. If Korg ever introduces Oasys in software I'll be chomping at the bit. It was like having Omnisphere on steroids in a keyboard and then some. The talent really is in the sound design. The hardware is just a way to store play and manipulate those sounds.

Kirchhoff EQ Better Than Fabfilter Pro Q 3
Tim Smith replied to Tim Smith's topic in Production Techniques
Thank you @Quick Math for your comments in the Kirchhoff EQ. In my search for the best plugins, I attempt to buy the best, then another better one comes along. Such seems to be the case here. For master work I most often use Fabfilter Pro Q 3. I believe Pro Q 3 is 64 bit VST 3. Have you used any of the Melda EQs ? I rate them a close second to Pro Q. Pro Q has some ground breaking features no other EQ had making the process of EQ easier. Can't say how Kirchhoff competes here so far as GUI.
