Don't know how they view Bud in the UK. Here it's sort of average everyday beer. The hops aren't overt nor are they underwhelming. I think it's balanced. My taste is totally different than most. For one thing I seldom ever drink a beer. When I do I don't like the expensive strong hops stuff but that's me. I think I get it too but maybe not.

Makes a good repository I suppose. Probably kills the bushes. I once serviced an A/C unit located outside a bar in the back and people would wind up there to get rid of some ballast. The pee was so acidic it ate through the cooling fins.

I tried to use some plugins a few days ago and discovered my SSD clone brought on a few licensing issues. Even Sonarworks failed to work. I'm supposed to locate the registration numbers for it. Oh well. What can one do? It's just a part of the process sometimes.

I hope that doesn't come from experience ?

I don't depend on depends yet, but I've had some close calls. There's the " I gotta go", then if the bathroom isn't close I start scanning for a cup of any kind, and hopefully remember which cup it was.

We celebrated the 4th on the 3rd because that was when people could come over. I spent the 4th recovering.

Can you comment on why you prefer the Strat over something like a Gibson? For me, the pickups on any Gibson I've ever played were not the cleaner sound I was looking for. I like that body style as well.

Sorry to hear about the dissolution of your marriage Rain. FWIW I have been through it too and given the way she was, I am better off. Remarried now-Happily. I'm guessing COVID might have played a part in adding to the issues many experienced. So you are an 'established' American Canadian now? The thing that concerns me about LV Nevada is the water supply. Lake Mead is dangerously low right now. I had heard Las Vegas gets some of their water from that location. Maybe I'm wrong. You had a dragon? ? So far as having enough, we are holding at bay right now. My commute to work helps because often I take someone else in with me and they help with gas expenses. Food is definitely getting more expensive. I consider myself fortunate so far. We do the best we can do right?

I believe forums were once more open to things that are now considered to be off base. The problem is in not having a point of reference. If you claim no point of reference you have nothing to go off of, and in modern society this is what has happened. The result is most forums have thrown the baby out with the bathwater. Debate and reason no longer govern an outcome or an idea. Some ideas are not to be discussed due to being too controversial. Of course all forums are free to establish a point of reference or none at all. In order to be fair to everyone, most things are off limits. Meaning even discussion of points of reference in detail is not allowed. On a technical forum such as this, one would not expect anything too awfully 'out there' in terms of discussion. This particular part of the forum has always been seen as a hang out by me. It was at one time much more open and allowed things I probably would not have posted. Then I have been guilty of posting things that would not be accepted now ( I have had posts removed not too long ago). This is because I was still thinking about the way we once did it. Thank goodness we can still go to other forums that are more open politically and who discuss some of those topics others shy away from. I don't believe the answer is censorship, but this is what we see happening all over the media.

Using Macrium Reflect Free to Clone A Larger Drive
Tim Smith replied to Tim Smith's topic in Computer Systems
Thanks for your help @rsinger. I finally managed to get it to work using Macrium Reflect. The free version of Macrium Reflect allows for enlargement of C partition when cloning as you stated. It's a little tricky for the first time user because you need to right click on the C partition to change partition size after dragging it to the clone drive and BEFORE you drag any more partitions on to it. After ordering some additional cabling, I should be able to now use my old 500gb drive as another storage drive and image all of my drives onto a larger external drive. Thanks Kevin, I attempted this with the last clone I made ( the smaller partition) it seemed as if it should work but didn't. I remember reading something about the succession of partitions being important. IOW if you had a partition after the C partition, this somehow prevented enlarging the middle one. I'm not sure why my boot drive has three partitions, a smaller 500mb at the beginning, the larger C drive in the middle and another a smaller 500mbish one at the end. I replaced everything the same because I didn't want to take any chances on the new drive. -
2 mountains that have yet to be successfully climbed!
Tim Smith replied to Jonald Blip's topic in General Music Discussion
The task of a DAW really isn't for this purpose. The vocal programs duplicating human singing are pretty convincing if done well. When I looked into them the only negative I could find was some of the better ones are tied to a server on the web. Why? I had similar thoughts about synths. There are still people out there building home made synths. I guess these guys are serious electronic enthusiasts. With literally dozens of the best synths replicated in software, or at least close approximations, I would rather spend my time making music, but that's me and I realize not everyone thinks the same say. Check out the channel " Look Mum No Computer" on YouTube. He gets into some crazy stuff. -
Live performance methods for electronic music?
Tim Smith replied to Starship Krupa's topic in Production Techniques
I have a full version of Ableton and I have dabbled in some of it. You are correct, it is a different way of thinking. In some ways I think you have to let yourself go. You can't really be too concerned about choreographing an entire show. Preparation is all about mapping a controller ( can be almost any controller) and selecting the loops you like. Everyone will probably have a slightly different way of doing things. Some might start out withe several known loops and parameters, others will have a recording setup and come at it with a sort of hybrid approach. Still others will 'wing it' in playing or tapping drums and bass, then adding whatever their mood suits with loops or synths. So there are three main ways- Using all pre programmed loops Using a hybrid approach consisting of some choreography and some music on the fly Using all played input live, making the inputs into loops and playing along with it, adding yet more loops until you have a song going live.- 1 reply

I had a few questions about using Macrium Reflect free and wondered if I really needed the payed version. What I'm doing- Cloning my C drive from a 500gb drive to a 1tb drive. Last evening I successfully managed to make a clean clone of C drive. It appeared to have two smaller partitions (less than 500mb) and the main larger partition. My plan was to extend the C partition after I made the clone in disk management. After some wrangling I realized disk management will not allow me to increase the size on my C drive. The image is an exact copy with no provision to add the extra space on my 1TB drive to the C partition. After investigating some more it appears that when using Macrium before you go to step 4 in the clone process, there is provision to add the rest of the space to C, THEN you commit to the image. What this means is I will need to start all over and erase that clone to increase the size of that partition DURING the process right after step 3. I should add, I have heard in some cases enlarging the C partition can introduce data corruption. My questions are- Will I need the paid version of Macrium to do this correctly? Are there real dangers in enlarging my C partition this way? As a side note- I noticed my license usb thumb drive stopped scanning and was flagged after I made the clone. Everything else boorted and worked normally. I suspect Waves and ilock might be I.D.ing my hard drive. Since it sees a different SSD it's a no go. How do I get around that if true?

I've been away on holiday for two weeks and must have missed something?

It usually isn't as bad if you are vaxxed. My wife caught it. She was vaxxed twice with the booster. Not that it wasn't an ordeal, but it was more like a bad flu or cold. I sat across the table from her while she coughed in my face and never tested positive, even now weeks out I'm still ok. I go out among the workforce in my job, use the same restrooms etc. Go figure.

I hope they can find the issue. Sorry to hear this.

The Little Things That Make Us Temporarily Happy
Tim Smith replied to Tim Smith's topic in The Coffee House
I was tubing on the river and didn't see any girls. We rented a house directly beside the river. That part was fun but could be surprising when a rock came along under water and bumped you on the posterior. I kept hoping an underwater sunken branch wasn't going to snag my bathing suit. We had a whole cluster of tubes tied together so we wouldn't get separated. That I was the steer man. That contraption was interesting to steer. -

Too late for me. I already have the boobs, so a little tofu probably won't matter ? -

I accidentally bought some fake beef tips. They looked real on the bag, but ended up being brown chunks of "beefish" ???. No beef in them. They weren't really bad, but like you say not a direct replacement for beef. I haven't tried those sausage-less sausages. We have a Trader Joe's not too far from where I live and I've gone in there on occasion. I will say they look interesting. The body needs a certain amount of protein and not all protein is the same. I was drinking plant protein drinks. More expensive than meat. I would probably be more healthy if I ate more salads. Adding chicken to one puts the needed protein in it. Not very familiar with the benefits of tofu. There's a Vietnamese grocery store not far from here and I can get lots of things I have no idea what they are lol. -
HD has been less expensive and as a result I have bought a few of them mainly for storage. It would not be difficult to clone the data from an HDD to an SDD. I have found SSD to be more reliable. and overall faster, though you can buy a 7200 rpm HDD and probably get similar results. I have had them ever since they came out and have NEVER had one single issue using SSD. I have the maximum number of drives my MOBO will accept. All SSD. Whenever a computer begins to show some age and we contemplate the next move, I have most often opted to save the files I wanted to save, wipe the drive and load a new OS. It's a lot of trouble to put all of those programs on the new machine again. The main reason I do it is because over times a lot of glut builds up on a system. Much of the software might need updating anyways. I realize this is probably the least desired way to go about it and admittedly it is somewhat unconventional, however it assures you don't have any old problems following you into a new OS.

Songs that you love or hate to play live... What are yours?
Tim Smith replied to Rain's topic in The Coffee House
I'm not given to like standing in front of lots of people, yet it seems to have happened on a fairly regular basis. Never got into music to 'entertain'. At this point in my life I have to think about whether to say yes or not when I am asked. Back in the day I jumped at any request. I like to get into the moment with some music which allows me to forget there is anyone listening. If no one notices you in a group, for me that's a good thing. Sticking out usually isn't good unless you are soloing on a guitar. I would rather make people think and reflect than entertain. I know. I'm boring but I'm ok with that. Actually quite content.
