As of today, September 15, 2021, I'm in the process of creating a mix for the stuff I've added to the original Boss RC-5 .wav file which was imported quite easily into a CbB project. Managed to add some synth's (the Minilab mkII and CbB I-Strings) and percussion (CbB I-drums), re-did the EQ for the original file and pondering another guitar overdub of some kind (acoustic and/or some treated electric). I can't list all the things I managed to learn in the past few weeks....quite a bit....but one thing I never anticipated is how important the final mix is. Achieving a really delicate and pleasing to the ear balance of all the tracks. Also, the realization of how each instrument has its own set position in the audio spectrum....which limits what other instruments in that audio position can be added. ........cheers!!!!

Very nice job. I think you succeeded in reaching the groove/feel you wanted. Could have been on the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" soundtrack. Conjures Dick Dale/Ventures/Shadows memories and a relaxing mood as well.

Greetings. I've been diving into the DAW landscape (CbB, Audio Interface, MIDI controller keyboard, cables, microphone....etc....) for the last few weeks and, imho, the Creative Sauce series by Mike on You Tube is the best CbB tutorial series available. Here is a LINK to the YT page of Creative Sauce: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCESNxzJHzDnCIuRO0RhQLeA

I just got a reply from arturia minilab mkII forum: The user manual is there : http://downloads.arturia.com/products/minilab-mkII/manual/MiniLabmkII_Manual_1_0_7_EN.pdf To use it in your DAW, make sure Analog Lab is closed before launching your DAW so the USB-MIDI port is released. Then, in your DAW, select the Minilab’s USB-MIDI ports as MIDI input and output and use the usual workflow to route them to your plugins. Analog Lab itself can be run as a plugin and you should appear as such. Hope this helps.

ummmmm....i think i figured this out....minilab comes with it's own preset plug-ins in analog lab 4 which are quite good....however, CbB and minilab are not set up to communicate this nor, apparently, allow CbB access to the plug-ins....i guess....who knows....the arturia minilab tech support forum website is a joke....almost a month of unanswered questions....i had a feeling it was going to be like this....?

Greetings. I am just getting into my Arturia minilab mkII midi controller. Never played any keyboards, acoustic nor electric before in my life. In other words, I'm about as ignorant as they come when it comes to this Arturia minilab. So....my question is I am running it on Windows 10, 8gb of ram, 3.4 processor....and I open CbB to record a preset synth track from arturia analog lab 4 I get this from CBb when setting Preferences/midi/devices: midi device failure. the following midi port(s) could not be enabled. the ports will remain unchecked in midi device preferences. inputs: device name: arturia mini lab mkII. reason: There is not enough memory available. outputs: device name: arturia mini lab mkII. reason: There is not enough memory available. So, my question is...seriously? 8 gb of ram isn't enough?? or, is this related to another setting i don't know about yet? I attached a sceenshot. TIA.

Thanks mark and Lynn. I did go to GC last Friday and managed to pick up three things: 1. Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface 2. Arturia Minilab MKII universal MIDI controller 3. a cable to run from a mic to the audio interface I found the YT Creative Sauce tutorials by Mike to be the best. He is the only one to mention the AISO driver I needed to get CW up and running. ****IMPORTANT**** The first Google return I got for a search for "AISO for all" was to a site that wanted me to give them $9.99/month!!!!! NEW USERS AVOID THAT CRAP.**** I looked a bit further and recognized a CNET site that had the dl for free. Installed and I now have CW, Scarlett and Arturia up and, somewhat, running. to be continued....

Well done. For some reason I think this would have been a perfect Who song for Roger Daltrey to sing. I sincerely mean that as a compliment as I have never heard any band remind me of the genius of Townsend, Entwistle, Moon and Daltrey.

Thank You Mark. Happy to be here. Please keep up your great work ?

Solid. I'm thinking Steely Dan without the half diminished minor7 b5 chords, early Pat Metheny, '80's George Benson....well done. Great band playing (is it a band or all you????), audio clarity, overall production quality....If you have time....I'm new to this Cakewalk/DAW business and wonder how much of Elevator are real instruments and how much are software synths....? ?
-
Thank You Nigel. Well, good news is I checked my PC's specs and they are ok for a Cakewalk dl so I did the dl last night. But now the real fun starts. I imported the wav file but need to get an audio interface and MIDI keyboard to record the guitars and bass and access the plug ins. I'm learning all this as I go along so it's all stuff you guys have already been through. I'll probably go to a Guitar Center and talk with the software/recording staff to see what they say as well as watch more Cakewalk videos. Thanks again for the compliment ? ?

Instruments I played/overdubbed are bass guitar, no effects, and 2 electric guitars: one dry and the other run through a Boss flanger pedal. Recorded on a Boss RC-5 Loop pedal with no mixing, eq, compression, reverb, echo....nada....doesn't get any more basic than that. I'm going to dl Cakewalk to my 9 year old PC and see if I can get it to work with the .WAV file, get the plug ins and get on the DAW bandwagon like the rest of you.... lol It's an extremely limited set up that I got just to start at the bottom of the barrel, so to speak, to see if I have a feel for production enough to upgrade to a DAW studio. I don't disagree with any of your comments jack....I just need to see if I can a DAW to run on my set up

My homage to Paul Desmond's classic jazz composition. Mods: I noticed a cover song or two here so I guess it's OK, if not please remove. Don't want to get suspended or banned. Thank You.

Overall very well done. The harmonica on the right is too distorted for my taste, but, you know, music is all about individual tastes ? The rest of the track sounds great.
-
Beautiful. Echoes of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush. Your production/programming tastes are exquisite. Your vocals are spot on. As others have already mentioned you nailed the abandonment existential ether zone perfectly.
-
Wow.....you are versatile. Very nice job on this one. I just listened to Gluten for Punishment and this is like a 180 degree but, you know, I love that in music.
-
Nice work. Certain sections harken my ears over to King Crimson's classic track Indiscipline.
-
Thank You very much jack c. Yes, I am working on a few other sections....it's very much a work in progress. The chord voiceings consist of the notes contained in the Ionian mode, hence the title Ionia. It's just I trick I use at times to get a new perspective on the guitar and writing music in general.
-
Enjoy it very, very much. Thanks ?
-
Music and video both extremely well done.

to hear latest iteration of ionia please click here: Greetings. Just joined. Brand new to the whole home recording scene. Here's a tune I wrote and recorded using a Boss RC-5 Loop pedal I got a few months ago. Instrumental called Ionia with guitars and bass. Will be doing the Cakewalk software thing as soon as I get a newer PC that can run it smoothly. Good Luck everyone!!!!
