Man totally blown away by that tone. Its not overbearingly distorted but just enough (like a great AC DC tone). Drums sound nice too.

I saw the movie Woodstock when I was about 11 years old. After I saw Hendrix, it really inspired me to switch from piano to guitar. Though I am not a huge Hendrix fan (im more in to Aerosmith, The Cars, Alice in chains) I do love my 05 Strat and its all I play because its the one guitar ive been able to set up perfectly. Sometimes its not always how great the guitar is but how well she can be tuned up. I have several loaded pickgaurds that quick connect for the jacks, but most of the time I use 1 Humbucker in the bridge (my 1982 Seymour Duncan 59)

My RODE NT1000. I know there are better microphones out there but once in a while you get a good microphone that matches your voices characteristics. My NT1000 was one of the first 1000 ever processed.

Here's One For Ya! RealTime MIDI VariPitch
chuckebaby replied to sjoens's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I've had strange things happen as well opening older X1 projects. What I normally do right off the bat is open the project, Save it under a new name (this way the original is left untouched). I then close cakewalk all together. Reopen Cakewalk and check for the same issue. -
^^This is the stuff I love.^^

I remember the video for this song (Back when MTV played music). As for this cover... The breaks were.. "tight" I thought the falsetto parts were pretty good too considering those can be hard to duplicate. Guitar tone was pretty much right one as well. The only thing I didn't like about is you recorded it in Studio one . Be a shame if this community lost you around here. Great job on the song.

The thing that impressed me most was this had to have been done using Tape. So there's no.. "Let me go back and fix this one part". (well sure we had "Punch in" but not like today when we needle everything to death by editing and editing. So even though I wasn't that impressed with the song, I can step back and take it for what it is.. A song recorded in the raw elements.

Great ideas here, the guitars are amazing, I love it. I would ditch the Reprise that begins @3:05 and just lay a fade and end. It would trim 1:30 off the TLOS (Total Length Of Song). What I have learned through the years is that it is difficult enough to keep anyone's attention for 3 minutes. A good song is built using multiple formulas, a great song only uses one= The craving to listen to the song again and again. The drums are really cool man, great rolling beat. However there are really no changes in that beat. That's okay for some songs. It seems to work here. Really like the guitar tone you have here. Mind if I ask what it is ?

Man is it tough to cover this song. Possibly because we have all heard it so many times our ears can hear any little imperfection. And I heard a couple in the vocal track or something like that. Me personally, I never had that voice to do cover songs like this.. It's also what lead me to sing my own stuff. I just didn't sound like any of those singers, I sounded like me. So I focused more on trying to find me. I did, but It took like 10 years Good job man, experiment with Melodyne. I don't like to use it on everything but when my ear picks out bad notes, I fix them right there and then.

getting reverb onto delay echoes/repeats
chuckebaby replied to jonathan's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
When ever possible (with me its 90% of the time) ... - Reverbs and Delays are controlled by sends via FX Bus. - EQ and compression are put on tracks. There are those times, for example: I have reverb in the FX bin of my snare track, guitar track, a second delay on vocals but for the most part I leave Modulation FX for Buses. If you really must have this reverberated delay and it doesn't sound natural using realtime FX.. You could try bouncing down the wet track and then running it through the second FX. -
Which Uses More PC Resources, ProChannel or 3rd Party?
chuckebaby replied to razor7music's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
There are 2 main reasons for Buses. 1- To use as a send for FX, Sidechains, or even sending a portion of the original signal out for extra processing. 2- To group tracks for level control Vs. Effect control. Im with you as normally I am carving and cant group individual tracks. However there are those instances where every piece of a drum kit should be sent (using the tracks output) to a Drum Bus. Or all the guitars (of same flavor) are sent to a Guitar bus. The pro channel uses little resources. I've used it (and still do) on 50% of my tracks. -
Is my laptop up to it? Cakewalk is crashing
chuckebaby replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
When you say "Period" does this mean Cakewalk is giving us the wrong System requirements ? Bandlab by Cakewalk- OS: Windows 7, 8/8.1 or 10 (64-bit) Processor: 2.6GHz Intel or AMD multi-core processor (at least Intel i5 or AMD A10 APU recommended) Memory: 4GB Hard Drive: 5GB for minimal install (20GB recommended) Monitor Resolution: 1280x800 (1920 x 1080 recommended) Audio Interface: ASIO compatible hardware is recommended -
Is my laptop up to it? Cakewalk is crashing
chuckebaby replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This sounds more like a soundcard issue than a specs issue. ^^^ What he says^^^ Don't go throwing money around upgrading RAM, New Laptop only to find out your Soundcard is a Hugo. I used to use an I3 intel with 4GB of RAM (my mobile DAW) back when Sonar X1 was released. I had great results. But I also had a USB Focusrite scarlett. -
No problem. Glad it worked. You might want to edit the title for this "SOLVED".
-
Have you tried opening up the Meter Key view and making adjustments there ? Same can be said for the Tempo View. Set everything up the way you want it and save it again as a template. I have to admit I kind of lost track to what the actual problem is. You explained it thoroughly but maybe to much detail for me sorry.

Can you post a screenshot of that same preference window screen only on "Devices" and "Device settings". -
My First Post on the New Forum! - "Made of Glass" Rock Video
chuckebaby replied to Bob Oister's topic in Songs
Pure brilliance. Always loved this song. I personally am waiting to hear some newer stuff. Power trip was the last song I heard (newer anyway). thought that was a great song as well Bob. We are both right up the same alley when it comes to blues/metal. I hear so many influences in your music. Great writing, even better production on the recordings, mixes. -
Im guessing Telecaster through a tweed amp sim with reverb ? Liked this a lot, The mix is good (cymbals are a little on the loud side). I hear the same with Cymbals not lining up with the kick on the down beats.

There is something about this song I really like. I cant put my finger on it because it sounds like there is a timing problem within the verses. but it all fits together nice. Very experimental (especially in the vocals/background overlaying vox track), I personally love that. That guitar work is great. the bending parts in (the intro and before the verses). Thanks for the listen.
-
Good song. Good structure. Good feeling. You would benefit from fixing some of the minor "flat-notes" on the vocal track using Melodyne. Clean it up and make it sound even better.

This has been asked quite a bit in the past. Im glad I have a place to link for future users asking this question. Great detail Morten. Thanks

Using Cakewalk with a Soundcraft Ui24r
chuckebaby replied to JAMES P COSTELLO's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes in Windows 10.. WASAPI, but first id like to know is there an included ASIO driver for the Ui24r ? I didn't see one when I looked up your product. Do you mean Latency. Is the new recorded signal delayed ? -
I've seen this a few times in past couple weeks. I can loop a 4 or 8 beat guitar part for 100 measures in under a couple minutes. Im not saying im cool or anything, im just saying its fairly easy when snap is selected. - Make sure your snap is set to 1/2 or Whole. - Drag/Select the 8 bar region - Hold CNTRL and Drag to copy/paste. - Once you have 2 done it becomes easier / Select both clips Drag and drop using Copy/paste. - then there's 4 parts easily copy/pasted into 8 parts (then 16, then 32, then 64, exc).

Using Cakewalk with a Soundcraft Ui24r
chuckebaby replied to JAMES P COSTELLO's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Have you chosen your Inputs and outputs in Preferences ? Have you installed a low latency driver for this device ? -
Its not. I personally have no idea why your choosing a 7 step, "reinstall everything" process.
