I like this one:

I was very glad not to have taken my beloved Strat with me when we landed and I was told that my luggages weren't on the plane. They arrived a few days later, but I can't imagine the anxiety if it had been my Fender. The Epiphone survived the operation to and from Spain and again to and from Moscow. Wrote a few decent songs on it. I still have it in a closet somewhere.

That's just being lazy... I didn't have that option when we went to Spain and Russia, and I wouldn't have wanted to take an expensive guitar or one that had any sentimental value with me, so I opted for the creative option...

Gear that you DON'T miss or regret having to say farewell to

That's strange to hear as I've had nothing but good luck with them, except that Trigger Finger thingie. I think my Delta 44 was the first thing that I bought when I decided to get serious about that whole DAW business. Midiman, as they had been known until then, were known for their solid products, and the Delta 1010 was receiving very positive reviews. I remember a fellow cakewalk newsgroup member got one and was quite happy with it - David Abraham Fenton I think his name was (I may be confusing people, that was obviously quite some time ago, circa 2000). As I was looking to upgrade my uber cheap PCI card, I figured M-Audio was the way to go. Although it didn't have quite the same pedigree as the 1010, the 44 was amply sufficient for my needs. I never used more than 2 ins at a time, anyway. And everything else in my humble rig was M-Audio too - preamp, monitors, midi keyboard. Didn't hurt that they had an office in Quebec City where I lived - which was almost unheard of. And then came Pro Tools M-Powered, which was quite exciting at the time. My perception of it was that the quality went south after Avid sold them, which coincided with me upgrading my gear, anyway. Are they even still in business? The only M-Audio "product" that I still use is this old key thingie: But I take your word for it - I guess I was particularly lucky. -
That Kirk Hammett signature guitar. It arrived damaged so I sent it back. But the 5 minutes I had it in my hands were enough to convince me that Floyd Rose tremolos are not for me (which I apprehended, anyway). I needed a "metal" type of guitar for a project and it would have otherwise seem to fit the bill (even if I am not fan of Hammett). So I stuck with my LP and SG. Tune-o-Matic all day for me (or wraparound).

Gear that you DON'T miss or regret having to say farewell to

Yeah, it was that horrible. I know there's a lot of people my age buying toys and stuff they used to own in their youth because it brings back memories. A few years ago, I even tracked an old 8 track player exactly like the one my dad owned when I was a kid and acquired it. For the memories it brings. But that guitar would be in the exact opposite category for me. I am not sure it still exists. It was in a closet in my parents house, in 2 pieces (bolted neck) last I saw it. It's probably been dumped ages ago. The only thing to do with that piece of garbage. -
