It was a great exercise.. I don't know much about guitar tones.. nor can I replicate Tom Petty stuff. I have never listened to him, but know many are influenced by his records. Looking back now I see that the mix isn't very well balanced panning wise. But when you are caught up in something its so easy to miss. In the mix I had a lot of busses set up.. which caused me panning problems in the end.. so I have learnt from that. I did start the mix in mono.. so when it sounds ok there with eq and you can hear instruments.. then you are halfway there. But it takes some discipline not to touch the pan knobs ? I would have loved for someone to program a better drum track.. I reckon that would take the song up another level. All in all it was a great experience and learning curve for sure. Thanks for sharing the project and stems.. very much appreciated.

Listening again on my IEMs while my wife is having some tests at the hospital. beautiful track and the mix is excellent. i don’t know how it could be improved.

Beautiful Tim. We all paint very different pictures... I believe it would sound even better with less reverb.

Well done. Very nice. -
I recognised the Noire as I have that... but dint know how you got you "pianos" to sound that way and couldn't work it out! I would never have thought about blending 3.. learnt something new today ?

Very nice Tom. Beautiful... sounds great on my Focals. Which felt piano is that? I also recognise some of the samples. I live in Norway so no all about winter in fact I haven't been in long as I have been snow ploughing.

Thank you Jack... the guy is really a mega star and its an honour to be trusted to do the job.

Thanks Steve. Looking back there would be a lot I would have done differently on levels etc. The thing is because it is live streaming... there is no PA.. just monitors and I have too also monitor with my IEMs. You push the master buss harder than you normally would with a PA to get the levels out. Very different way of working and the decision are very quickly made.

This is a song I was working on this Sunday... one of twelve to be honest. A live Christmas concert with one of the artist being Christian Ingebrigtsen who is famous for being in the band "A1". The song is about what was Josephs thoughts when he heard Mary was pregnant and would have a son. Live sound is tricky as you have to react fast. Quite a few artists one after another.. different eq settings and different monitor requirements.. I was sweating on this one. In a studio you have time to fix things... with "live" you just go for it and try not to make huge changes that people notice ? Joseph Mixed on a Allen & Heath DLive
