  1. This is quite a journey. It started a couple months ago as an example project to help a friend of mine learn to use Cakewalk. I decided that I liked what I started and decided to expand on it, and before I knew it, a 1 minute ditty turned into a 6 1/2 min long progressive trance track. I used a wide variety of synths, and loops for this. https://metapop.com/valerie-grimaude-valens/tracks/at-the-edge-of-reality-lies-oblivion/100793 Looking for feedback on this, mainly on the spectral balance.
  2. Yeah this does look fishy to me, a channel with only 69 subs, the Elixir of Stars video is unlisted on their channel, and if you go to the homepage of Design my Beat, Tomorrowland 2 Elixir of Stars is nowhere to be found.
  3. This Youtube search result should help get you started with extra plugins, should you need them. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=best+free+plugins+for+mixing
  4. If you can remember what settings you used, you can try replicating the effects with the included ProChannel modules. Almost everything the old XX-64 series does can be replicated with them. I say almost, because there isn't a good replacement for the expander processors that you can readily get anymore. (Unless you bought the ProChannel module before the Gibson shutdown happened.)
  5. If you can figure out the kind of compression the Dyna Comp hardware pedal uses, (FET, Opto, VCA, etc) and the settings like, threshold, attack time, release time, ratio, you can easily replicate it in something like Scheps Omni Channel. Keep in mind that it may also be using tube saturation in tandem for this effect.
  6. Decided to go back and fix what was wrong with this mix, mainly the fact that I'd been using compression too aggressively, and relying on them to avoid clipping. That really sucked the life out of the old mix, but now that I know better, here it is, for your enjoyment.
  7. Don't forget the ProChannel Softube Saturation Knob for no-frills, hard-edge saturation.
  8. Funny you mentioned that, because I just purchased it myself.
  9. I think you'll need to fix your recording equipment. Do you get the same results in other DAWs?
  10. That intro is quite wicked! Great job!
  11. For those who doesn't already have it, this is a great deal.
  12. Oooh these are good deals. Stuff I would jump on if i didn't just buy Scheps Omni Channel XD
  13. This will be great for scoring tracks for horror/sci-fi games. I wonder if I should pick up Cinematrix for $6 too.
  14. I think I'll step back for this one, my wallet can't take much more GAS lol
  15. This is one sexy guitar, let's see what you can make with this beauty.
  16. I just wanted to ask, since this is a thing that has been bugging me for a while, but sometimes, I would drag in an RX2 clip that has a length of something like 7 beats, or 15 beats, and Cakewalk would always stretch it in the timeline to fit into the length of the nearest bar length in 4/4 no matter what. I also couldn't figure out how to force the RX2 slices to play at half or double tempo. How would one address these problems without having to print the clips?
  17. I still use CbB exclusively, I really don't see myself using any other DAW. Almost pulled the trigger on Mixbus 32c, but the lack of good MIDI editing workflow killed it for me. I might try Studio One, Reaper or Reason in the future if my financial situation ever improves. Before then, I had been using Sonar X1 Producer.
  18. Limiter Nº6 Is a pretty good Compressor/Limiter plugin : https://vladgsound.wordpress.com/plugins/limiter6/
  19. 1) Set up a send to an aux track 2) On the aux track, set up the delay so that none of the dry signal is output 3) Then set up a reverb on both tracks. Light on the main track but heavier on the ER, a bit wetter on the delay track, but less ER. 4) Set up a patch point/bus, route both tracks to it, then add a different reverb effect, this time with some HP/LP rolloff. 5) Set up one final subtle delay, but with a different timing and more HP/LP rolloff. For reverb effects I tend to use Breverb 2 Cakewalk, and for Delay, I lean on iZotope DDLY a lot.
  20. It might be better to set it up so that every clip is a groove clip, that way, when you change the tempo, things stretch automatically.
  21. Is it me or does the website just doesn't work? All I got is a pulsing dot. EDIT : Oh nevermind, the site script got blocked by my adblock, derp.
  22. Always do a sound test and make sure that your noise floor is as low as possible. If that isn't possible, you will need an expander, and a noise reduction plugin. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO BEYOND 0dBFS. However, if you need a more consistent recording level, the PRO VLA II can be what you're looking for. it will set you back $299 tho.
  23. You may need to completely wipe the options and settings that persists after an uninstallation. I had to do something like this a while back for an unrelated reason, these are the instructions I was given back then, it may be relevant here :
  24. As a thank you gift for the success of the launch of Vaporwaves SampleScience is offering SQ8ROM, a ROMpler plugin based on the Ensoniq SQ80 for free forever. It comes with 50 sounds, but 2 expansion packs are included that will add 118 additional sounds, for a total of 168 sounds.
