I had to dig to find this so giving it a bump. I'm pointing people to it in the video I'm working on that is mostly about why new users need to join in on this forum.

Yes WASAPI exclusive has sometimes better round trip latency than even some ASIO devices at the same settings. But, I found many devices don't support it. The good news is the Realtek audio does support it so this makes it a very good driver for people using on board audio. The minute you plug in a USB audio device you will want ASIO. If you can live with the latency, fine. And that can actually be adjusted in sync and caching. You perform a loopback test and measure the difference and add or subtract it in the box I pointed out. The issue with the sound quality is a mystery but until the OP gets the mike working with WASAPI exclusive ( or shared) mode we can only guess as it most certainly would be the driver. I can see real bad sound happening in Cakewalk if using MME mode. Another question is if the Driver supports the projects sample rate, that can also sound terrible.

We are not talking about the audio quality that should not be the issue. We are taking about the need for all the other things that a proper audio interface with ASIO supports. Most important is track synchronization. I find it very odd that very few people realize how important ASIO really is to audio recording being in sync. You record the vocals to a backing track in WASAPI shared mode and it will be at least 60 ms late. WASAPI exclusive performance is better but not all devices support it and it will still be late , just by less. Then there’s monitoring etc.

Suggest me audio editing Application.
John Vere replied to TechWhiz's topic in Instruments & Effects
Yes you are correct not true freeware. Gold wave is free to use but you can pay for it to get rid of Nag screen. I bought the lifetime license a long time ago for $50. It’s the best one for batch conversion of files. I thought older versions of Sound Forge were available free? I have never paid for it myself. The latest version came with Movie Maker by Magix. -
That's sort of scary! You might want to turn on Auto save for now until you sort it out. I have re -assigned my M key to be save. I found I never used it for markers. But you seem suspicious of Trilian. See what happens if you swap it out for Ample P bass or SI Bass. I don't know if you've tried it, but I find Ample P bass lite the perfect bass for my music. It's free. Defiantly these days if Cakewalk crashes it's a plug in. You can submit a crash report to Cakewalk staff. They really appreciate the reports. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/3865-better-problem-reporting-how-to-capture-a-crash-dump/

Because Cakewalk works at 32 bit floating point I always export stems as 48/32 no dither. To me that's as good as it's going to get. Looking at digital audio under a microscope is a bit ( pun intended) of waist of time. I totally agree with this:

What is the proper way to export final mix-down audio?

As usual it's right under your nose if you right click the track header.

Chrome does not show Cakewalk.com PNG images
John Vere replied to Bassfaceus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
That doesn’t work for me. I have to use Safari. Both Chrome and Edge have never shown images from the documentation for me for years on all my computers. I tried all the suggestions offered. The web site is funky and that’s all there is to it. -
This is why for the longest time I’ve used only 48. 44.1 should be mothballed. It serves no purpose in recording anymore. And don’t tell me because of CD’s. I drag and drop my 48/24 wave files into Nero and it converts and burns them no problem.

I think you’re right and I should shut up and stick to making videos. Just finished another a few minutes ago. So thanks! you just did me a big favour. Ah the things I can now do with the spare time I’ll have.

Grooveclip looping After Time stretching
John Vere replied to pinguinotuerto's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I do believe that is what has to happen because the original audio has not changed in it's folder, but is held in limbo by the tool that has altered it. So it is not accessible to any other editing functions until you render it. This is true of all editing tools , like Melodyne and even with the step sequencer you can't edit the data until it is rendered . Bounce to clip only takes a half a second so I wouldn't be too upset about the necessary extra move. -
Before I had the Motu my workaround was very clunky. I had to use a small mixer and could only use WASAPI shared mode. That always sucked to have to change from ASIO and reconnect my mike etc. The loopback is a simple solution to bring Cakewalks output back to other software without leaving ASIO mode or making any changes to you whole set up. There is always a possibility that the software you are using is limited in features and the loopback can create a feedback loop. This hasn't happened to me in OBS. And looks like Zoom fully supports my Motus features.

Help installing EZ & Superior Drummer 2 from disk
John Vere replied to Bob Grieco's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Whoops, good catch I guess I didn't follow closely enough what was said. Looks like Tom has it covered. -
Update: I got a PM from the OP @Robert Hale I will apologize for above statement but only to a point. This is the internet and I'm allowed to get grumpy with people who don't follow through with being engaged in the threads they start when asking for help. This is because I felt like us "helpers" are being ignored. All you need is one Thread. Ask for help and you will get it. It often might take 3 pages to resolve issues but the folks here will keep trying BUT- that is only when the poster remains actively involved. We can see that you have actually visited the forum but for some reason did not respond to further questions. Starting new threads with different titles might fool a few people but many of us actually do pay attention. Seems where we left off in the other thread(s ) was the Behringer interface is one of the rare models available that does not come with ASIO drivers. This put you in a unique and awkward position. Our standard advice for people without Audio interfaces using Computers audio system is use WASAPI mode and do not attempt to record audio unless you are willing to adjust the timing offset. WASAPI is all you need for DAW playback and editing loops etc but needs to be manually synced so tracks will be in time. Recording audio, specifically the Overdubbing new tracks, requires ASIO drivers which 99% of the audio interfaces available will have. You were just unlucky and bought that 1%. It seems you did watch my videos, so good, all this is covered as well as what you will do when you trade the Behringer for an interface that does come with ASIO. Your currant issues are directly related to drivers and basic understanding of how to record audio in Cakewalk. My videos as well as dozens of other excellent videos will help with that. And if you prefer to read the documentation is a very good way to learn just about anything about Cakewalk.

Help installing EZ & Superior Drummer 2 from disk
John Vere replied to Bob Grieco's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
??? If you don’t install the sample library there’s probably no sound from the VST! -
I don’t normally get too grumpy but this is at least the 5th thread about this. Sort of waisting our time.

Funny you posted the same thing in 2020. I can only wonder if you are still using the same computer?? I've never owned a Presonus but I do believe they have very good ASIO drivers and it should not be the cause of your problem>>>> Unless you have the issue I had with my Motu M4. I needed more USB power. I had to add a PCI card with up to date USB 3.1 drivers because my computer was so old. I actually still have some minor issues so I just bought a USB C PCI card and will be installing later today. Bus Power has always had it's down side. Did you ever run the Resplendent latency test as recommended back then?
-
Thanks for your support. I don’t get a heck of a lot of that.

The last update was over 6 months ago and I have probably done a lot of copy and pastes in the that time period with out issues. Possibly a few details of exactly when this is not working would help clarify your issue. Saying that restarting Cakewalk fixes the issue points at something you are doing is different than normal.

For me getting out and playing my originals in front of totally unknown audiences and getting a good response makes it all worth it. Locking yourself in a studio is not how you get known or any appreciation. There is still a whole world out there that loves to hear something other than those same old cover tunes. And they seek it out as live music, not recordings. Try it, you'll like it. With the zillions of recording I've made both of my own and clients very little of it went beyond a small handful of people listening to it. I've think it's the nature of the beast. Without a proper record label behind an album or song release it will be doomed to obscurity for sure. And now the game is changing and instead of record labels we have a new type of Vulture asking for money to make your song a hit. Ya right. I bet they get enough suckers to make it profitable. $22.95 x 1,000 suckers =$ 22,950.00 not a bad annual income.

How many threads are you going to start about this same topic. You have been given very clear advice on what your issue is. Your Audio interface is your problem. If you hope to move forward and record any audio you ( as we all keep telling you) will need an audio interface with proper ASIO drivers, you have even received some excellent recommendations as in the Focusrite Solo would be a huge step up for possibly on a few more dollars than you paid for the Behringer. And I'm not sure if you have followed my Tutorials which would also clearly explain all these questions. We all would truly like to see you get this sorted out, that's what this forum is for. But starting threads and abandoning them and starting new threads is not going to work well here. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7YqVth30eGt7K5L5fUIUF_UjCsdAVCbd

If these are audio tracks what I do is to export the tracks from the first project. Make sure the range is starting at zero. Leave the export location open afterwards.( a Second monitor is handy) Now open the other project and simply drag and drop those tracks to that project. Of course the tempo will have to be identical. If it’s midi I drag and drop with the 2 open. just resize to fit screen. Another option is copy paste as mentioned above. both audio and midi. The reason I prefer to export audio as a track or stem is it will be starting at zero. And if the track was split up then there’s no weirdness
