  1. Now is the time to upgrade They do it every year at this time. Each of my upgrades was from the free version that came with Sonar Platinum. It’s always $99. So I’m into it for $300( $400?) now and have Studio.
  2. I used to do what you are doing. I don’t look at the meter I use the peak and hold numbers. I worked in small sections which more or less are one line of the lyrics. I have the G shortcut key to open the Gain dialogue. I would drag over the quiet parts and add a few db of gain. Play the part and observe the meter peaks. It was more of a visual editing process looking at the waveform to find quiet parts as well as listening to understanding the lyrics in the mix. When done I would print the track by exporting it, then I learned about bouncing to clip. This was a lot of work! Now it’s easy. I discovered a levelling tool in Melodyne which is brilliant and became part of my new workflow. It has 2 sliders one to bring up quiet parts and then one to lower the loud parts. It’s percentage based and I’m using around 70% on each. The results are I can toss the compressor and limiter in the trash bin. Well. I still use them as watchdogs. Im not sure at what version level of Melodyne this is included as I had it in the Editor version and I just upgraded to Studio. It’s on sale for a few more days if you need to upgrade. Best $99 I ever spent. And now I can work on harmonies all in one view. So all the tools you need to work on vocals are right there just like you’re working with midi in PRV. If used correctly there’s no noticeable artifacts.
  3. @wiviv you should start your own topic because what you have done is called high jacking. And when you do state what you problem is as this and what gear you are using is totally not clear. Like are you using an audio interface etc
  4. I actually find this comment very negative.! People shouldn’t post on the internet if they are so easy to offend. This forum is very polite and helpful and sometimes we need to point out the facts realistically and not dripping with sugar.
  5. Open the help menu and activate. If the web site is slow be patient. Make sure you are signed in to you Bandlab account. If your posting here you should be already singed in unless you’re posting using a different device.
  6. I just did exactly this yesterday. I opened a song . The song was starting on a Pick up in measure 0. So I turned on Ripple edit used CTRL A to select all and dragged the whole song 2 measures. The tempo track had changes in the first 2 measures and they followed right along. Possibly you didn’t use select all?
  7. We ran over a Moose coming home from my Daughters on Christmas Eve last year. Tonight we will try again with out the Moose. We weren’t the first person to hit it, a large truck took it out first. It was very snowy and we were only going 60 Kph. I was only 30 feet away when I saw it laying across our lane of the highway. This thing is as big as a milk cow. We literally catapulted over it like the Dukes of Hazard. It took out my radiator support and the air conditioning system was also on the ground. This was a Hyundai Santa Fe so we had just enough clearance to result in going over as apposed to hitting it which would have been a trip to emergency for sure. Tonight we will take my Old Chevy Silverado. You always feel a little safer around here in a good old PU. I don’t think an Uber car would have survived! But then I guess you don’t have many Mooses in the City. PS. This was a very remote section of highway with no cell service. There’s not much traffic on Christmas Eve. The next vehicle who also hit it was a big Dodge 4x4 they were unscathed and gave us a ride home.
  8. Ya the TTS1 is actually unique in this way. Most instruments are not GM so don’t respond the same way. I don’t think I have found any other synth that responds to the effects controller in the midi inspector strip. But those usually have midi learn.
  9. When you say gone do you mean it was there and then it wasn’t? Im seeing that lane 5 has audio data but it is at a very low level.
  10. If you play around with the settings in the track header they seem to create hidden data that does not actually show anywhere else in Cakewalk. So this can confuse people expecting to see the data in the event list. It’s easy to test all this using the TTS-1 as example. Open the TTS-1 and change any settings you like, program, level, pan even the effects. if you do not touch any of the controls in the track header or the track inspector Midi strip those settings will remain unchanged. The settings in the track inspector will all say none. But change the settings on the reverb in the inspector and you will see the reverb send in the TTS1 move too. But now if you set the reverb in the TTS1 GUI as soon as you start playback it will jump to the position of the Inspector controller. So for any one making Midi files to share they are better off using the track header and midi inspector to embed data and names. This way any one can play the file correctly on any GM playback system.
  11. I guess I better delete this post as well as it was in answer to the now defunct post above. This is why people quote I guess. ?
  12. In Cakewalk the tracks header overrules all other info. Example in TTS -1 you open the GUI and change Ch 1 instrument to a saxophone. If the track header says “ None” it will remain as a saxophone. But if you enter any other choices in the track header the minute you start playback it will change to the choice you made there. Generally all the info in the track header including the name and volume and pan becomes imbedded in a saved midi file.
  13. Ya that’s what I was thinking. I just revisited my Cakewalk account and I see I have a license for Melodyne Essentials from way back then. Over time they offered updates and I’m about to spent yet another $99 to get Studio finally. Your first stop should be your Celemony account on the web page and see which license you have. You can only have 2 computers per license and that is where you can deactivate a computer you are no longer using. And I’m not sure but I think older versions won’t run on W11. But once you install it you can open the stand alone version to enter you serial number. And make sure it installs to its default location so Cakewalk can find it in the scanning pathway
  14. To add to this All audio interfaces have direct monitoring which is the preferred way to hear your input signal with out having the system latency delaying what you hear. To me it’s part of the best practices to lay down squeaky tight overdubs. I never turn on input echo for audio. And for midi it was one of the first things I learned about Cakewalk 20 years ago. And yes it normally on after I insert a midi track. But there’s a zillion reasons why it might not be on. Just like everything else about Cakewalk. I’m glad you’re learning that’s the main thing.
  15. Speaking of Melodyne that is what I’ve found is working really well for me. I don’t apply much pitch correction to my lead vocals as it tends to zap my vibrato. But my harmonies I always flatline them. What I found is because I do have this huge vibrato as well as I tend to slid up into notes that this is terrible technique for singing harmonies. So my attempts have been pretty awful in the past. I’ve only really learned how to use Melodyne lately so this flatlining harmonies was a new discovery. I sing the harmony parts trying mostly to match the phrasing. I don’t worry to much about if the notes are right. Just sing them clean an pure. It’s a lot of falsetto on the edge of my range. Then in Melodyne I pitch correct to 100%. And then I remove all the vibrato ( Wavy lines) Then I move each note as I solo the lead and the harmonies along with maybe a piano or guitar until the harmony part sounds pleasing. I can also adjust the levels and timing. I think the results are about as good as I can get other than hiring a good singer to do it. But even that would need tweaking. Sure it’s a bit of work but it’s the sort of work I like doing. They are baiting me with the upgrade to the top version for only $99. Then I can see all the vocals in the editor at the same time. It’s the best investment I ever made in software. And they have very good tutorials that are a must to watch every one a few times.
  16. If your audio interface has a Loopback feature then you insert an audio track and select the Loopback as the input. Thenn solo the midi instrument and record it as it plays. Other options is freeze the instrument then copy the results to a new track. Or Export just the harmony track as a stem and drag it back into the project.
