@abacab something happened to your MP3 it's playing garbled. I tried a few ways of playback. I've heard of issues with exporting MP 3 in Cakewalk. I always convert in Gold Wave.

Nobody else has this problem. Well the Bandlab assistant is a bit buggy, but example I just started fresh on a new build and it took all of 10 minutes including the Add ons. It took a lot longer to install all my old Sonar stuff using CCC and that was without downloading. I have those backed up and I just copy them into the CCC download folder before running the installs. A week ago I did the same thing from scratch and that was a slow computer but it didn't take long to install the basic CbB and goodies.

https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/home I have 5 tutorials that cover everything to do with midi. Make sure you install the midi driver from Roland, don't use a generic windows driver. Make sure the Roland is checked under Preferences/ midi/ devices- Inputs On the midi track set the INPUT- make sure the Roland is the input device and choose OMNI The OUTPUT of the MIDI track needs to be set to the SI Piano and input echo on so you can hear it. The Si Piano OUTPUT need to be set to your master bus. Your Master Bus OUTPUT needs to be set to your audio interface. You can test the SI piano is outputting sound using the GUI interface.

This one is free but is not super detailed- https://www.voxengo.com/product/span/ This is the one I use now I paid for it to get the drag and drop feature which has paid for it self 10x over now https://youlean.co/youlean-loudness-meter/ When you say Export tracks do you mean you are exporting a mixdown of all tracks or just each track? This is a good tutorial

https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon You buffer setting is obviously set to low. I have to run a 256 with my Motu M4. I can get to 128 with my Scarlett but some projects with lots of goodies will crackle. And this is my Latency monitor report.

A # 1 cause of no sound can me your Master bus is sending to your digital outputs instead of the 1/2 analog outs. Check your master bus output. And make sure in all the pages of your Cakewalk Audio preferences that only your audio interface is checked and showing. Make sure your set for ASIO.

I think the reported issues were always Sound Blaster devices I think E mu was better quality hardware. My very first card was a Audigy II cost me $300 back in 2002. It was a great card for most applications and had a break out box with 1/4" jacks right there in a CD drive bay. Mostly I did a lot of work using Wave Lab for mastering and copying music. The midi never worked and in about 2004 I started to use Cakewalk and that was a train wreck. I ended up wasting months and months trying to get it to work. My tracks were visibly always out of sync to the midi backing tracks. It worked a little better using Asio4all. But I joined the Cakewalk forum and was educated to the evils of Creative drivers. I was not alone. I bought a M-audio Fast track pro and problem was solved so I could finally get some work done. Therefore, I always advise people who are fighting a losing battle with their audio system, be it an on board card or a older crappy interface, to stop wasting time and for $50 you can buy a modern, up to date, working interface. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UMC22--behringer-u-phoria-umc22-usb-audio-interface

And did you run Latency Monitor? this is important to do when having dropouts as it will narrow down the list of causes. There's no point randomly changing settings until you narrow it down. Example a week ago this topic came up and it was a Graphic card. Remove the graphic card and use on board video, DPC cut in half. Problem solved.

This is a new feature of Melodyne 5. It detects none musical audio and highlights it. You can delete it all with one mouse click. If your serious about cleaning up vocals or even guitar parts it is a good investment to upgrade from the demo supplied with CbB. I just got it for $99. On sale from a Black Friday through Boxing day sales. Always sign up for newsletters so you can watch for sales of any software your lusting after. And FYI Cakewalk has a "tool Copy" feature and if you add a wave editor to its list with @scook tool editor it will open any audio track in your wave editor automatically. You edit the track and then save it in the editor, when you put Cakewalk back in focus it will ask if you want to commit the changes. But Audacity is not really a wave editor so I don't think this works? There's a thread just a week ago about it. But I have added Gold Wave, Sound Forge and Wave Lab to my list. I probably will use Melodyne from now on.

Some interfaces companies are very focused on the status quo and do their testing on Pro tools and Logic etc. They also seem to write a Mac driver first. ? Anyhow when you shop for interface and you look on the website they often have a list of tested DAWS. Sometimes Cakewalk is not even on the list.

I looked on the web site and first dialogue box says End of service no support anymore. There is a W10 driver but it is from 2015 so windows update has probably trashed that. But through history Creative ASIO drivers have never work with Cakewalk. They are a deviated version of asio4all I think look at all the time you have already waisted.

Just to sort of show you why I'm bugging you to change I thought it would be fun to compare the difference between TTS-1 tracks and upgraded tracks. Below is the original midi file straight from my download folder. I opened it in Cakewalk which uses TTS-1 to play the file. I had to move the snare track from B2 to where it belongs in D2 but otherwise didn't touch nothing and exported it. I found my version and amazingly enough I hadn't really done much other than swap instruments , Tempo and key were the same. I opened a blank project and put mine version in Track 1 and the TTS-1 version in Track 2. I put the Youlean meter on the Master and adjusted so both were exact same level. I then automated crossfades between the 2 tracks at random. The MP3 file posted below starts with the TTS-1 . My track comes across as louder but honest, they were both showing same LUFs and close to clipping the track meters. The TTS-1 hit the red a few times. It's one of the reasons to use good instruments. They cut through a mix better. I used the following instruments; Bass - SI Bass Jazz patch with a few minor tweaks. SI Drums default but I add a little compression using only the GUI effects. Guitar is Strum Session shiny electric. I don't really like it and in my version I originally had muted it. The organ is a free download the Combo V and one of my favorites as it really captures that 60's combo sound. https://vst4free.com/plugin/1004/ I killed the vocal piano track too. So if anyone wants to try a shoot out grab the midi file and try your own upgrades. I'd like to hear what others come up with and what @Michael McBroom can do using the TTS_1 I'm sure you can make it better than the version I used. Where's @CJ Jacobson when we need him. Like me he'll tell you to toss that thing out. Long history of bad drivers that never work well with Cakewalk. I speak from personal experience. ASIO drivers are the heart of a well performing DAW system. Only use audio interfaces that are from trusted and proven brand names like Focusrite, Tascam, Motu, RME etc.

High Definition Audio Device disconnected from system
John Vere replied to tdehan's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
What I'm seeing is you have 2 ASIO drivers. What ever that Real Route driver is should be removed. Looks like a generic driver possibly something to do with installing Reaper? Make sure the recording Latency device shows your proper ASIO interface. You should see no other ASIO devices except your interface in the Audio menus. And for me my interface is the default device when attached. I have no problem playing videos etc. The OP issue is most likely caused by a rouge ASIO driver taking control. This is a quote from @scook in another thread. Go to the registry and delete all other drivers but your audio interfaces. ASIO4All or any generic "ASIO" driver can be a problem when a real ASIO driver is present. There should be at most one ASIO driver for each audio interface attached. CbB looks in the registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO for installed ASIO drivers. -
Cakewalk crashes when opening projects
John Vere replied to Sergio Miranda's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Did you try safe mode? That’s the best way to see if it was a plug in. If it is then often Cakewalk team will contact the vendor and they can work it out -
No sound out of Studio Instruments plug-in
John Vere replied to Brunodonkey's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
First the instrument track output needs to be set to your master bus Your master bus needs to be set to your audio interface or if using on board sound to Speakers you should see the track meters move as well as the master in my signature is a link to tutorials on this topic- 4 replies

Where is output 2 setting for my Steinberg Interface?
John Vere replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
All interfaces report to Cakewalk the same the input that says left is one the input that says right is 2. Set up your tracks with the correct settings and save them as track templates it will save you a lot of time -
What he said this is important Asio4all has been known to invade you real ASIO drivers territory. You’ll need to completely remove it including in the registry. My son in law has a solo and a very slow old laptop and we run it at 256 buffer with no issues. Do not turn on input echo use the direct monitoring feature.

In aWave editing app like Sound forge the workflow is probably more simple. It’s what wave editor are for. load the file ( make sure you have a second back up in case you screw up ) Step 1- find the end of first song and using the keystrokes highlight to the end of the whole track and delete. In Wave Lab this is Shift/End/Delete. Not sure about SF. now you have just the first song so using Save As renaming it to that song and I would put 1- in front of it. In Wave Lab I can now hit Undo and this brings the whole track back. If not just re load the original Step 2 - My cursor should still be at the end of the first song and using Shift/Home /Delete which will highlight from this spot to the beginning and deletes first song. This leaves from song 2 until the end of the track. Now go to the end of the second song and replete step 1. Now you have only song 2. Save as 2- Name of song Hit undo once to undo last delete and now replete step 2 and so on InWave lab I can do what you want in about 5 minutes. I would also be removing between song junk unless you actually want it. I always just do a quick fade on the applause 3 seconds gets the point across. My live recording was done mostly off the board to some sort of high quality recording device like Dat I used them to critique my mixing skills about all that was needed was to Normalize which I tended to just do after I edited each track and made sure the applause was not the loudest level this can happen with quieter folk or classical performances Done thousands of these as when I was doing sound I always recorded the shows. I always let the performers know and offer the recording for a small fee. I have never abused the unspoken rule that these tracks belong to the artist and are never to be used in any way without their permission

This has nothing to do with Cakewalk. Your controller is sending midi data. Cakewalk receives the data and sends it to the VST. So if the controller is sending note number 48 you’ll hear a crash or whatever that note is. If it sends a 35 you’ll hear a kick. You can do 3 things. 1-Change the pad assignment 2-Use a drum map to convert it This would be the only time Cakewalks software is involved 3-Re assign the notes in the VST’s mapping if it has this option. SI drums doesn’t. As said. It is. simple GM kit AD2 does So assign the pads is the easiest solution—but— It would not surprise me if Akai has not supplied a good quality editor that works. I have an Akai Synthstation 25 and it’s super buggy. Half the controls do nothing and when I looked into it I was not alone. Support doesn’t respond and the user forum takes 3 months for a reply. I love my Roland , solid drivers and everything works. And guess who wrote the book on GM. So nobody here can really help other than possibly the drum map option. Your best bet is google about using the editor and see if others have got it to work.

Need help from Midi Gurus: 1/4" out to MIDI converter?
John Vere replied to Billy86's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
In the check out bin it was $140 Can. What Guitar VST are you using? All the ones I've tried sound like Harpsicords. There not even close to sounding like what I can get using a simple condenser mike in a normal untreated room. I also mix in my PU often recording 3 tracks. 2 mikes and the PU. I have tried Strum Session, Ample Guitar M lite and DSK acoustic. -
Midi Piano sounds quieter than audio tracks
John Vere replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Yes Velocity. Piano sound best with a good variation in velocity but keep in mind going over 115 can sound too harsh with some VST's. The velocity has bearing on the timber of the sound just like a real piano being played soft or hard. So don't think of velocity for Volume but timber and dynamics. AD Keys is a very loud piano that I use because of it's ability to cut through when mixed with blues or rock guitars. If the meter for the piano VST audio track is showing a healthy level then there should be no difference in the mix than your other instruments. Make sure it's outputting to your master bus. -
Need help from Midi Gurus: 1/4" out to MIDI converter?
John Vere replied to Billy86's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
@scook The demo allowed me to use it as a VST audio plug in. And I used a acoustic guitar to try and see if what the OP was asking would work. As long as the input is hot it will track properly. Soft playing is very glitchy. But midi does not lend it self well to the complications of what an actual guitar sounds like so the end reslut is more piano like than guitar. The last thing I would use this and midi for is emulating a guitar. If you think about it what's the point? But it has many uses as a way to create midi to be used for other instruments. Possibly you might struggle with using a keyboard to input your data if your not a good keyboard player. And this with some tweaking can track cool things like pitch bends and vibrato something a keyboard would not do well. For me the guitar to midi option gives me a third 3 way to create midi tracks. Keyboards controllers and digital drum kits most of us own, but a guitar controller is rare. @abacabThe bass I have been using Melodyne drag and drop for a few years now so that does not require any additional hardware or software. I would not use this app for Bass. Much easier to use a real bass and Melodyne. The tracking errors are very few with Melodyne but this app would require twice as much editing I would think. But as said the demo is free to try. I'm going to keep an eye for a out for a sale price. You can actually get stuff done even with the interruptions and I do have my Godin, I just never have it hooked up these days, but it would work equally as well. What I like about this is the option to take any guitar part and create a parallel midi track. Think about layering possibility's for background.. big fat Polysynths ya! I logged on to the site and will get emails They have a Forum and as said above there are a few people from Cakewalk active there. I saw mr Fogle there. -
General MIDI Standard Percussion Set Key Map.pdf I could not say with out reading the user manual for the editor app. But that would seem to be how you re assign pads. I Googled the list of GM drum note assignments SI drums uses GM ( general midi ) Kick is note 35General MIDI Standard Percussion Set Key Map.pdf

The thing with finding the right VST's is you need to try the expensive ones first. Out of the hundreds of freebies I have downloaded I have only kept a few. Most are buggy or just plain sound like POOOH . There are tones of recommendations on this forum and a lot of us agree on a lot of our favourites. Most of mine came with older Sonars. But included with CbB is the studio intrument collection. This to me is a huge step up from TTS-1. If you only made one change it would be to swap out your Bass, Drums, strings and even electric piano to the SI instruments. Export a file with TTS_1. Then swap ot for the SI collection and export that. If it doesn't sound better to you then that I will stop bugging you
