    Cakewalk

If Cakewalk is installed on a computer that is not connected to the internet, you can use offline activation as long as you have access to another computer that is connected to the internet. To use offline activation, follow these steps: In Cakewalk, go to Help > Offline Activation > Export Activation Request to open the Save activation request dialog box. Select the folder you want to save the activation request file to, then click Save. Cakewalk saves an Activation request.crq file. This file is encrypted and machine-specific and can only be used to activate Cakewalk on the machine originally used to create the Activation request.crq file. Copy the Activation request.crq file to removable media such as a USB flash drive that you can transfer to another computer with an active internet connection. Using an online computer, open BandLab Assistant and sign in with your BandLab username and password. Click the Apps tab. Under Cakewalk by BandLab, click the drop-down arrow next to the Open button, then click Process Offline Activation Request. If activation is granted, BandLab Assistant generates an Activation response.dat file. Copy the Activation response.dat file to removable media that you can transfer back to your offline Cakewalk computer. In Cakewalk, go to Help > Offline Activation > Import Activation Response to open the Import activation response dialog box. Select the Activation response.dat file and click Open. If the response file is valid, the program will be activated.
  2. I just re read your post and a concern came up. You will want to use the ASIO driver mode for best results. But you won't need or use the Real Tech audio with it. If all you have is computer speakers then plug them into either the headphone jack or main outputs of the Mixer. You will need an adaptor. You cannot use on board audio system and output jacks when you use ASIO mode. Your mixer will be all you need for listening to any audio playback from your computer now.
  3. I have the Signature 10 which uses the same ASIO driver V 3.20 Last Updated: Mar 25, 2019 I use it without issues on a W 7 Laptop. Update: I just downloaded and installed the ASIO driver and tested it with latest version Cakewalk and W10. Works great. I set it at a buffer of 512, I was also pleased to find it supported 48 hz. So to answer your question, your device is not obsolete. It's actually a pretty decent 2x2 audio interface. I think I leave it hooked up and do some recording with it. Thanks for making me dust it off, been in the road case for 2 years.
  4. I think you might get the same results by simply bouncing all the fragmented tracks into clean fresh continuous tracks. Midi of course doesn’t factor, only audio. Probably the issue arises when what was originally a continuous track gets chopped into dozens or even hundreds of clips that Cakewalk now has to compute in real time as you play the song. I recently wanted to speed up a song and the only way Cakewalk would allow this using Audio Snap was to bounce all the audio to new tracks and delete the originals. As well as bundle I think using save as to a new location with copy all audio checked will also clean stuff up. I’ll have to try this later.
  5. He got all that way back when in from watching my video. But then the OP used a 3rd party clean up tool as well. But I'm not sure that was actually nessassary. I think this type of stuff is why I like to install a new OS drive every 4 or 5 years and start fresh.
  6. Not sure what your Montage is plays. But creating midi files for playback on most systems is normally done using the GM ( general Midi) standard and you would use a different channel for each instrument. The song will play exactly like it does in Cakewalk using the TTS-1 as example. If you are only trying to create a drum track then there would be no volume involved for each drum part. Volume only controls one intrument at a time. Look in the event list to see if you inadvertently added a volume event cc 7 or ? You use Velocity to balance those parts if all are using the same channel. The default GM drum channel is 10.
  7. I always choose my controller as the track input. Takes 2 seconds I always thought this should have a saved preferences option. The add tracks dialogue will maintain the choice until you close the project. You can also use track templates.

    Where is "Wipe"?

Absolutely a new one for me. Why on earth would you want this? I’m curious ? My discovery is if you click on a track number it highlights all the data in the track even if it’s busted up in little pieces. Now delete or copy or ?
  9. You should be publishing using the proper You Tube Control panel. It’s part of your Google account. There’s a lot of steps involved.
  10. First thing comes to mind is your sample rate somehow got changed. In this video I show how to prevent this from happening
  11. I sort of quickly read most of this to make sure no one else had said it but right at the end @User 905133 has and this was immediately what I was thinking after reading first post. You have exceeded a device limit for the USB port. I cover it in the beginning of this video https://youtu.be/AcDcCmjPaWg
  12. Ya I have a USB connection from my Blackstar amp. It has a loud hiss. So I just use a mike into my interface. My friend has a Fender Mustang that also doesn’t work with USB. But let’s just see, Maybe this one is better. One thing is it’s not actually saying the driver is ASIO on the web site.
  13. And just a thought. You don’t mention setting your input levels? That clip sounds like a way to hot signal. How do you monitor Cakewalks playback and the incoming signal? You’ll need to be able to monitor what it sounds like before you record.
  14. Actually I’m thinking? Did you set Cakewalk in ASIO mode? Check the device is showing in all the preferences audio settings
  15. Everyone has a different system. And it also depends on if your computer has a second hard drive. standard practice is to let the installer use its default location for the software and dll but put libraries and samples on the second or 3rd drives. A lot of the free VST’s just have a .dll you simply copy to your VST folder. Best to use as few locations as possible. I have only 4 locations. I have the default Cakewalk VST folder and then the default VST3 folder. Then a Steinberg VST folder that their programs created. Then there is my main folder called VST that I put all 3rd party VST 2’s in. The VST 3’s goes to the default. There are also 32 bit folder locations but I removed those from Cakewalks scan pathways and if given a choice don’t install them. Which is another point. If an installer has a bunch of type options I only choose VST 64. If there’s a VST and VST 3 I only install VST 3.
  16. So this is latest mix now with the effects and a few minor ajustments. See OP top post for version. Here's the latest tutorial on the project.
  17. Yes I notice that as well but was thinking it due to me always leaving the box unchecked in the Insert Soft synth options. I just opened a blank project and while inserting AD2 the check box is Greyed out so this conferms that Midi output is not an option for AD2. It's weird Richard would end up with double notes unless that something that can happen if you use Comping mode. I never use that I always use overwrite. But good Idea to look in Event list. There is a UN DUPE CAL script found under Process. But if it's an entire lane then that would work best to just delete it.
  18. Seems instead of the pitch bend you should simply transpose the part by +1 - N opens transpose dialogue. It's common to modulate in the middle of a song or for the last chorus. I would do this in Track view so I can highlight the timeline of the section for all the midi tracks minus the drums. If you want a slide into the key change then only draw it in the measure where this happens.
  19. Here's screenshots of where you find the MIdi output toggles. Also temporarily if you turn off input echo for the Midi track I think it stops the loop. The dragging issue is make sure the tool shows as the move tool, not the pencil. But this sound more like the loop to me if you are hearing a delayed sound. For the double note you would see a goast of it after the original.
  20. So this is Midi data Sounds like double notes or a feedback loop. The feedback loop is easy Turn off Midi output for the synth. This is found in the synth properties. To see if there’s double note open in PVR and drag any note up or down to see if there’s a note hidden underneath
  21. The Behringer umc22 is your audio interface, the DAW is Cakewalk. I will assume the Microphone only has a 1/4" jack. That should be connected to say input 1 of the interface. You adjust the Gain control until the CLIP light comes on when talking or singing loudly and back it off a little bit. The meter in Cakewalk will verify your signal level and this should be between - 18db and -6 db. I cover audio set up in this video. https://youtu.be/iNPqNyoX4iU I cover setting up audio interfaces in this one https://youtu.be/P2pnDOC7HEk

    Cactus

Yes within a few seconds I noticed the whole song was sort of lurching along. I think it might be the rhythm guitar though. As your drums you would have quantized? Otherwise good work.
  23. Thinking about your challenge my approx would be to clean it up first using Sound Forge or any Wave editor that has the tools to do clean up. Then save that version. Then perform the next step and save that. Then perform the last step. You can use a wave editor for all your steps but whatever works best is what I do. That’s why I have 4 Wave editors! Each one seems to do certain things better. Wave Lab- $100 Sound Forge free ( comes with Sony turntables or Movie software) Audacity - free Gold Wave- free to try full version or $60 lifetime license
  24. The folder is most likely still where it was. Just find it and copy it to the other drive. No need to use links. The in preferences change your project folder location to the new drive. And make sure to copy that folder to a few back up drives.
