  1. And to add there’s been hundreds of bug fixes and improvements. Most of us still have Sonar Platinum installed just to get the plug ins that were included. I even have 8.5. Each version is individual and can’t harm the older versions. It’s no different than installing Cubase and using it too
  2. The point is, why bother answering to a thread the OP has abandoned.
  3. Interesting info. I sort of thought this myself and have never doubted that Cakewalk probably used good convertion. Also Interesting that the Op left the building even though it shows they logged on 10 hours ago?
  4. Solution to lag time- Ditch all VST intruments and the effects they are using and convert the tracks to audio. This is very easy to do and there are a few options. What I do is export the entire project as stems ( Tracks through entire mix ) and use that to create pure audio versions for all my songs. , then, not only will it load faster, but it will be generally 100% dependable forever. No twigging out on you because something changed about a VST licence or an update. I've been using backing tracks since 1984. First live Midi through hardware and then I switched to stereo backing tracks using Mini Disk ( digital format) in the mid 90's. Now I just export my backing tracks as a stereo mix from Cakewalk using a system where all 150 + songs are mastered and mixed identically. I playback on a little Netbook using WIn Amp and a foot controller. I can start the next song as the last one was fading out,, and with my foot. Hand never leaves guitar. I have started on a project to set up some shows where I do use Cakewalk instead because I need live midi for lighting and effects control. As well as I might have more musicians playing with me so will use the 4 outputs to manage that. It's also nice to run the bass track direct to a bass amp.
  5. Actually one of the problems with Windows/prntscrn is it does take a screenshot of both monitors. But because I have a shortcut to the screenshot picture folder on my desktop it’s real easy to take the shot, open the folder, open with the default picture viewer which I have set to using “Photos “. Which has some basic editing tools built in like crop.
  6. It was introduced with Windows 8 I think. I used to use ALT/ Prtscrn which saved to One Drive or to DropBox. I accidentally pressed Windows/prtscrn one day and it certainly made it easier.
  7. I now re reading your post- it sounds like your having to have input echo on to hear an instrument. Is this correct ? Or are you saying the track needs to be in focus? If you open the instrument property page can you preview the sound?
  8. If you press the Windows key and PRT Screen It saves a screen shot to your Picture Folder and then I open them with the windows photo viewer. you can edit the pictures real fast. Mostly I just crop them. I still prefer using Paint to add text but you can draw arrows or circle things in the default Windows Photo view
  9. Possibly you are doing things in a none standard way. Follow these tutorials to see how Cakewalk works Normally.
  10. Watch tutorial # 28 and # 29. You can most certainly name the export in many different ways.

  12. I read that thread and all I can do is shake my head and wonder why when presented with the solution in the first answer why it went on and on.
  13. I would be curious to see a screenshot of your Preferences/Audio/ Sync Caching page. What shows as the device? Reason I say this is I noticed you have Voicemeeter installed. I would totally remove that from your system. It’s very possible that it is conflicting with your Focusrite driver. You don’t need it if the 8i6 has loopback.
  14. The quick answer is to use WASAPI shared or exclusive mode. Tutorial #1 goes into details of using on board audio
  15. Midi delay is often caused by the audio system due to certain effects adding latency. Try bypassing your effects.
  16. For sure first save as a track template. You can open the original project and resize it half screen. Open new project , make half screen and now just drag the track from one project to the other. Or use Copy/ Paste between the two projects.
  17. Windows explorer can display different date formats including last modification. This is very accurate for when you wish to compare files. A great way to avoid future confusion is to simply include the date in the titles of “save as” backup copies.

Basically when using hardware for both sending or receiving Midi data you will need to read the manuals or watch videos made for the hardware. All DAWS are is a way to capture the incoming Data and record it and play it back. Configurations can be very simple or very complicated depending on what you are trying to accomplish. Simple: Any keyboard that has USB or DIN midi output set at the Omni input to a Simple Instrument track. Input echo on and you can play and record the performance from the keyboard controller to that track as midi. Complicated: Keyboard / Controller used for controlling the DAW and down line hardware connected to the DAW midi output. This is way more complicated because there is a zillion variables on what needs to be either passed through the DAW or transmitted, synced, CC events, midi channels. Then the midi routing. If it’s DIN you need a midi interface with stable up to date drivers. USB is a little more useful but then you might run out of ports. Then the playback hardware needs settings and audio connection to via an audio interface.
  19. This is exactly what I was getting at. Not only for the PVR but when I work in Melodyne editor. I like to place the now time just so to listen to the section I’m working on. Once I totally understood the Skylight interface and all the options and shortcut keys I found I could work real fast and smoothly even with one monitor. It’s actually very well designed for flexibility and customized workspaces. And I find that I now use the Alt/Mouse scroll to zoom in and out a lot.
  20. #2 then # 12 and #13 cover everything about midi. Do you have input echo on?
  21. So it’s just not me being an idiot about tack lanes. If I keep things simple they work brilliantly, but as noted you can’t treat them the same as tracks. I’ve made some big messes with lanes and had to delete everything and start over just using a few regular tracks instead. I gave up on them a while ago.
  22. Don’t worry about that. Look in your audio folder and you can see the correct name was used
  23. The audio box is a low end usb audio interface and uses ASIO drivers. It should work just fine. This tutorial might help you set it up properly- watch #20
