  1. You can do it Richard. I know you can!! My secret weapon when it’s not working is the best Scotch I can afford ?
  2. I can see that track is probably toast. When you see a waveform with flat tops and bottoms that is a sure sign that track is well past 0db. But- Most importantly is what does that part sound like? If it sounds nasty there’s no point carrying on because with digital audio if it clipping it’s toast. That’s why lesson #1 is always set you inputs well below where clipping is even remotely possible. Super easy to turn up tracks but if it clips it basically garbage. You need to re record any part that clips. There’s nothing else can be done.
  3. As I said if you want this fixed submit a crash report to Cakewalk. The developers don’t always see posts here.
  4. You can never have too many synths!
  5. The standard practice has always been to create a midi track for each channel. Or you use a Simple Instrument track which I do. You can view multiple tracks as an overlay in PVR by holding Ctrl and selecting them. Tutorials #12, 13&14 explain using midi tracks and instruments
  6. Just a few pointers on how to ask questions on user Forums. First it is always best to start your own thread rather than dig up old threads where the OP has 2 posts count and has not visited this forum since. Even the people who replied have not returned to this forum for more than a year with the exception of @Freddie see how I tagged him by adding @. To his user name? That’s how we get the attention of other forum members. But only if they are active members which out of the few who replied he’s the only one you can see is still active here. You can click on any members name to see this info and you can also send them a PM from there. They might get that if they agreed to email notifications. But asking a question to none active members is like picking up your phone and asking a question to the dial tone. Sorry for the long winded reply but I’m putting this here so other new members understand how user forums work.
  7. Audio is recorded directly from your interfaces which is 100% in control of input gain. From there the signal is converted to digital and “recorded “ as data to your hard drive as a wave file Example 48/24 or 44.1/24 wav. That file becomes your audio track in Cakewalk and from there it feeds the channel strip from top to bottom. Cakewalks channel strip only processes audio after it is recorded. You can “Monitor “ the processing in real time by engaging input echo but that just monitoring. You need to be aware that monitoring input echo is subject to your system latency.
  8. Yes it’s not anything you would need unless you did use it in the past. It’s certainly falls in the obsolete category. What I do with unwanted plug ins is use the plug in manager and the Exclude option. Go through the different types and exclude the ones I’ll never use. That way the plug in is still installed and harmless but it won’t clutter up your lists in Cakewalk. This gives me the option to re try a plug in again down the road.
  9. As said above always export your stems or rough mix using the “Entire Project “ time setting so tracks are always starting at zero. With the fast speed of the internet these day you can certainly upload and download stereo 44.1/16 wave files easily. You friend should send back the stem the same way, starting at zero , but I would be using at least 44.1/24 or better.
  10. I get a similar issue with Ample P bass lite. Randomly you hear what I determined is a slap sample when you press the transport to stop playback. It’s very annoying but it’s a free version so I won’t complain. There is absolutely no midi data to generate the note which is way up above C7. So it will be the plug ins involved not Cakewalk. Obviously Scaler from what you say. If you output the VST to Midi Ox it will possibly show you what the midi data is.
  11. You even spelt their name wrong. But @Reinaldo Farías only posted here those 2 times exactly 2 years ago, and unless they get email notifications you’re talking to the wind.

    BandLab assistant

Good to know, thanks. Cakewalk‘s info on the internet is mostly outdated. The best info is actually found here on this forum but you need to pay attention to the posting dates. Sad thing is the majority of Cakewalk users now post on Facebook and not this Forum. Facebook is useless for gathering the correct answers and info.
  13. I know exactly the videos that recommend Asio4all and they have millions of views. They are the most highly recommended too. So it's not the OP's fault for taking advice from a source like that. Here's the Videos with correct information, the first few are the most important.

    BandLab assistant

I thought you had to leave the Assistant installed to activate Cakewalk every 6 months? I know you don’t need to ever open it or use it, but my understanding was it is the “ manager” for Cakewalk just like XLN and Izotope use. I googled the question “Do you need the Bandlab Assistant installed to use Cakewalk?” And as usual there’s a zillion different outdated answers.
  15. Watch video #1 for proper settings for audio with Cakewalk
  16. Watch tutorial #1. And # 20 It will get you fixed up. You might want to watch a few more if you’re new to Cakewalk it’s a complete series that will take the guesswork out of working with Cakewalk

    Too Much

Possibly Joe Walsh vibe to the vocal? Great track.
  18. No but the Cakewalk team does appreciate it if you submit a crash dump report so they can fix it.
  19. This- I really don’t think you can synchronize a bunch of GIFs. But I will vote for a “ Rude”. Ripple edit button. Wasn’t that Mackie that used that term for the Solo light on their mixers?
  20. I’ve created a series of tutorials and many of them cover using midi tracks as well as export, copy freeze bounce etc.
  21. The other solution which is what I do is turn the track gain down by 3db. I do this with creating stems but I would think it would also work for clips too.
  22. You need a audio interface with a Loopback feature. This is the best solution. You need an audio interface anyway if you plan on using Cakewalk to its full potential Some sound cards support using “What you hear” It would be in the Windows sound settings. I think Audacity can select desktop audio as a input source. OBS does for sure would be easier just to record using any thing but Cakewalk and import the audio. But just this one situation is why having a loop back built in to your interface is cool. That way you’re working with ASIO drivers
  23. And I did note you had 64 bit engine engaged in preferences so turn that off. The consensus around here has been if you don’t understand what it’s for don’t use it as it is not necessary.
